At least 10 years, at least a few times every year for the last ten years I’ve listened to this and it still has the same effect. It still gives me chills and almost moves me tears. This is the humanity’s most beautiful, brightest, vibrant and awe inspiring moment. Nothing will ever be as good as this.

Listening to this again a few years later. Beck has *extensive* musical knowledge - traditional Western orchestral instruments, Alpine horns, a yodeler (!), Chinese instruments, a gospel choir... you don't just say "hey, let's do something different", you have to THINK about this. Aside from the fact it's an amazing cover, it showcases his deep knowledge and his respect for music.

This is what Beck said to Rolling Stone about that cover: "I covered "Sound and Vision" a couple years ago with almost 200 other musicians. It was surreal and insane trying to get that many people to play together at the same time. I never heard anything from him about it, but I hope that it didnt make him cringe or anything. I know he was particular, and its always strange to hear one of your songs covered. It can be a great thing or it could be a terrible thing." I'm sure he loved it. I mean, how couldn't you? Bowie has said he wished he'd asked Curt Cobain why he was inspired to record The Man Who Sold the World. So maybe Bowie just didn't go out of his way to comment to other artists about their covers of his songs. I want to believe he heard and loved it.

This was a pleasure to behold. It took some big thinkers to pull this off! Fantastic work by Beck and the team that did the performing and the coordinators and the whole shibang. Gracious sakes man... what a tribute. i don't think this was just a simple cover of DB's original. Everyone sounded wonderful. The Grammy's couldn't handle something this large because the production would have been too big for them.

This... this is amazing!! Wow!! Why o why is Beck such a freaking underrated artist. So many people don't even know who he is. Only if you say: ''He also did the song loser'' than they know. So many mediocre to downright terrible ''music artists'' out there who get crazy popular for no reason, only beceuse that they have a good marketing team behind them. I don't understand this world anymore... I'm done. Beck, you're a freaking legend.

Listening to Beck & co. recreating the masterpiece by the late great David Bowie, I am reminded as to why we as a human species are put on earth and why we come in all shape and sizes. Every musicians that is in this recording bring in their own small piece of sound to the overall composition. Every sound is different & unique, yet when played together, they create a harmonic soundscape that is by far greater than the sum of its parts. An analogous as to why it is important to respect one another, regardless of race, religion, political stance, background, social status and the likes. Only by working together and respecting one another can these individual noises can come together and create music. #sayingnotoracism

Beck is known for being a huge Bowie fan himself, and this "reimagining" is clearly a labor of love and admiration. I can certainly appreciate the time and energy put into all this from the musicians, singers, as well as all the "eccentric" instuments (I mean, "singing saw", y'all! Come ON!!! I kind of hope there is a jug and washboard in there somewhere, LOL, as a hillbilly myself I could get with that)… But I love that Beck has always done his own creative things much like Bowie did, and that his voice isn't the typical "pop" voice just as Bowie's never was either. So this is … Perfect. I think David would have loved this.
