I remember when Madrid won 4-2 at the Clasico, he was the man of the match. He does everything on that match: running, passing, tackling, attacking, defending, finding space, etc. His through pass to Owen showed his class.

his technique was sublime and many of those freekicks were of some decent distance but that low, hard 'whip' he could get made them near-unstoppable on target....generally a goal! Incredible free-kick taker, one of the best ever and certainly of the last 20 years

figo was one of the best also in the world at that time and more rounded player than beckham. beks did have his strength but he wasn't a total footballer

Great goals but these goalkeepers had awful planning and positioning on the free kicks.

Nothing more than a crosser and a freekick merchant. Half his legacy is down to his Hollywood looks.

The great Petr Cech is not from Becks generation. To answer your question, name better players than Leo Messi and Cristiano😉 (they are from the same generation of Petr Cech, which is the one right after Beckham). But I agree, there was A LOT of insane players back then, but they can't compare to the Goats

I'm not doubting Beckham one bit because at the time he was doing things nobody else could but! Some of the goalkeeping here is seriously questionable, I think Allison and ederson save 80% of the goals I've just seen, as I said at the time he was the only one who could do this at the time

You don't play elite-tier goalkeepers 80% of the time though. Once that ball is over wall, goalkeepers have very little time to react. JWP has free kick goals against the top goalies in the Premier league. Becks would still bang them in against today's goalkeepers.
