If it was such a big thing, why are nations happy to play in a tournament held in Qatar? Players from your club are going over there and are being paid for it. Yet how many have spoken out against Qatar? How many psg players have spoken out about Qatar? If its OK for all of them to go and make money, why shouldn't Beckham? If you were in his position and were offered what he's been offered, would you accept? Of course you would and that would make you hypocrites too!

The response to Beck's red card in 1998 is honestly one of England's darkest moments in our football history. I truly believe that. Yes I'm a Utd fan and yes Becks was a childhood hero but regardless of who you support, you can't hide from the fact as a nation, we let ourselves down terribly in that moment. To have the career he had, to go and do the things he did, he's an England legend and we can't ever allow what happened, to happen again.
@temporaryuseraccount0012
Жыл бұрын
He did arguably cost England that game (and therefore the tournament) with that totally unnecessary act of petulance. So, there's also that. Did some England fans (who weren't also Man United apologists) go too far in his condemnation? No doubt. However, Becks has never really been very apologetic about what he did to get that red card. Yes, he now admits that he regrets getting the card. But, he should have come forward straight away after England's exit from the tournament and publicly apologised for having being so reckless and he would probably have earned more forgiveness from a lot more of the public, much sooner. For the record, I wasn't one of those who condemned him afterwards. I just thought he was a bloody idiot for reacting the way he did in that moment. But I also thought he should have made more effort to genuinely apologise to the fans, and could understand the emotions of others, since he didn't take responsibility and apologise for his actions.

@@temporaryuseraccount0012 I think the intelligent element of England supporters realised that whilst what Beckham did was silly, the reaction to a flick of the foot by Simeone was cynical, and the red card from Nielsen was ridiculous. @@Julia-ns3kj You read that 6500 people died building the stadiums for the Qatar World Cup, and you’re asking what the issue is? Educate yourself the human rights issues they have.
Becks could take anyones place in the England squad right now, them accurate crosses and passes speak for its self, even to this day he can still ping a ball around the pitch like it’s 1999
Great long form interview again from Gary. Keep up the good work. I do think there was a missed opportunity to hear from both Gary and David, regarding the political and moral issues involved in the World Cup being in Qatar.
Arabic coffee Gary......lol this is awesome, well done GNev & Becks
Not a single player from the current England team would get near the 2000s England team - mind-blowing how much they underachieved. To me, it says a lot about how important the balance of a side is.

Sadly that midfield didn’t really work as well as it should have. Maybe having an unselfish ball winner who can play a tight pass - such as Rice - might have helped. We needed a strike partner for Rooney, why not Kane? And Saka would have been a great bench option, although I recall we weren’t blessed with pace in 2000’s. So he offers something different.
I remember watching the treble winning dvd back over and becks was instrumental in us winning all them that year he was absolutely brilliant
Criminally underrated becks look past the haircuts and fashion and the way he hit the ball and touched it was a thing of beauty his technique was unreal still not seen anyone near him for how he played a once in a generation baller
I assume Becks is promoting his brogues, as the camera continually pans to them

All the interviews so far have been class! I was looking forward to this one but just seems like some sort of advertising for Qatar? I agree this could be the best setup for fans and players you could possibly see nearly every single game in the tournament but surely questions need to be asked about human rights in this country why here why not play it in Asia? Australia & New Zealand?

This is Asia and Asia has had a World Cup before, Japan and South Korea ?? This is the first World Cup in the Middle East which Australia and New Zealand aren’t a part of. This is advertising for the World Cup Beckham is an ambassador . People have the wrong idea of the Middle East, yes there are human rights issues but so are there in the West. You can’t just ban this part of the world from the World Cup over “human rights”. Such a close minded take from too many westerners that have never been to this part of the world and have no idea what it’s like. We just had the last one in Russia ffs. Before that Brazil, Before that South Africa. It’s going to Mexico and The US after Qatar have they no human rights issues ? No Poverty ? Exploitation? Homophobia ? The Middle East is improving conditions for migrant workers and has been for many years. It’s a great part of the world surely this World Cup will show this

Magic ✨ the chemistry between the two is & always & will always be there !! Wonderful half hour of screen time !!
The two things I love about watching this.. is that after all these years, they both still call Fergie "The Boss".. it shows just how much that era of players respected their managers. And Becks saying that if Southgate gave him a call now, he'd still go out and play.. and we all know, he still has it!

You've gotta love this interview. When the 2 people are so close and familiar with each like this it makes for a fantastic interview.
The not winning with England question is always interesting but think of this. The Brazil, French, German, Italian and Spanish, Argentinian teams between 1998-2006 were full of world class players our players were good but just think of the legends on the international stage in that period

What a man David Beckham is… He was fuckin brilliant as a player. What a life man - Liverpool fan
I am an Indian kid who started following football around the time Beckham was at the last leg of his Man Utd career but I saw all his England matches and follwed his career till his last match for PSG. Even tried watching his MLS and AC Milan matches despite not having great access in those days. I had giant posters of him all over my room. People say his prime was his United days. Must be true. But even in the MLS and for Milan, he produced some world class goals and crosses and was just a great midefielder. I do wish he had stayed in Europe for longer for the sheer joy of watching him play. An absolute legend of the game. Best crosser and free kick taker of all time.
Really really enjoy this show.. Ive only really been into football over the last few years at 45yrs old... I love this video, 2 close mates having a good old laugh, proper British sense of humours ripping each other as only really close mates can do.. They happen to have been 2 great footballers who played in 1 of the best teams of the era.. Has Beckham done his coach training?? Reckon with his passion, obvious skills and mindset playing with the players in the teams he has he would make a great England manager

Wow I think it’s rare for someone to get into football at a later age. Most are indoctrinated at a young age, like me as a man united fan 😂 I’m sure he could be a good coach if he wanted that but I don’t think he’s interested. He owns “Inter Miami” an MLS team.

I don’t think he’d ever get into coaching or management. Which is a shame because he was such a technically gifted player, and those skills could be passed on to others easily. He won’t do it because he’s his own brand now and is unlikely to drop it all. He owns multiple businesses, he is the face for multiple brands, he’s the ambassador for several corporations and charities to name a few things. He won’t have the time.
What a legend
I love the overlap,Carra episode up there as the best (and I’m a United fan) but this is a case of not really reading the room! (Basically the final 5 minutes)
