Dave Allen - On Drunks

Комедия

Dave Allen was a unique Irish comedian whom appeared on British TV in the 70's and early 80's...
His humour was a unique brand that made fun of the normal every things in life. Dave Allen was the first alternative comedian before they even invented the phrase... enjoy...

Used to watch him late at night in the late '70s. Couldn't get enough of him, Benny Hill, Monty Python, The Two Ronnies... just wonderful. I'd be so tired in the mornings that I was often late to catch the school bus, but it was worth it.

I was a kid when I watched Dave Allen at Large. Here in the States, he was on PBS every Saturday night. I grew up in a very toxic family. Both parents and my older brothers were terrible Narcissists. I barely had a moment of peace. But I had the house to myself on weekends. Watching Dave, Benny Hill, Monty Python, Good Neighbors, etc. gave me things to laugh about. Most people don't understand, these shows saved my life. I probably would have offed myself if I couldn't laugh at something. You definitely had to live in the times to understand why these shows were so great. We had only three networks and PBS to choose from! When I heard Dave passed, I felt the loss even though we never met. Same with Benny Hill, Graham Chapman, and so on. To the stars, casts, and crew of all these programs, THANKS for all the laughs! To those we've lost along the way, THANKS too, and Rest in Peace.

Love me some Dave Allen. I was a kid when the BBC started showing repeats in the early 80's. Then he came back and did a new series with grey hair, and his more perfected, slow burner, story telling approach. He was that awesome uncle that I never had. Thanks for the upload.

Been a fan of him ever since and wish those shows would air again. Tremendously funny, very underrated and under appreciated talent he was.

Fuck this man was funny. I love comedy of all forms and have studied it for many years now, and this guy? Is a fucking great! I'm Aussie, and Allen was very popular in Aus with my Aunt's generation...probably more the 'grandparent's' generation for anyone born in the 1970's. And I only just found out how much my Aunty (now deceased), and Uncle (now in his 80s) loved this guy through my cousin (their child). They grew up in the same time, with the horrible religious public schools, and the Victorian values that caused so much damage for so many people in Britain, Australia and New Zealand...perhaps with the exception of architecture LOL! Yup! Love myself a beautiful bay-windowed Victorian! I grew up around working class folk who were raised amongst that bullshit, and they were HARD people, because they were made that way. And watching Allen not only make ME laugh because I can relate to what my forebears were like, but it also gives me some insight into why they WERE so tough and dismissive of any kind of emotion or acceptance of, what THEY perceived to be, weakness. A true great, who said to a whole generation; "you're okay and it's okay to laugh at how fucked up it all was". xxx ooo

My nephew totally disagrees with me on that, he's always saying "Watch this guy he's great" then puts on a DVD of someone who doesn't even raise much more than a smile on me (if that)... 🙄 Different strokes for different folks I suppose, but like yourself I know what I like and what makes me laugh and that's really all that really matters... 😊

Paul L That point is very good. Except you're comparing smoking (which no one thinks is convenient, or rather, I don't think they do) to the convenience of cars.

MadFranko008 Well that last part can be argued quite a bit. while I can see them being taken as unnecessary and for "lazy people" however, they most certainly have more redeeming qualities. Maybe you wouldn't see that if you live in an area where everything you need is nearby, or if you don't travel often. And to fix up my statement: "which is typically not convenient" (my meaning being while it can be taken as convenient as in your case, it has more negative effects than positive, and that is where my "convenient" term comes from.)

Aussie Baka Yes Moran is influenced by Allen but to say it's his whole career is ridiculous, sitcoms, art, serious short and feature films.....just because Dylan occasionally imitates being drunk does not make him Dave Allen, Jesus, how narrow minded and uninformed are you?

Ryan Kelly He wasn't just funny. No cheap slapstick here. He was highly intelligent! He told everyday stories that everyone could relate to. Like "teaching your kid time". Thanks to youtube I can watch him whenever I need cheering up.
