The new Specialized Stumpjumper in the test: The jack of all trades from California?

Спорт

The Specialized Stumpjumper was the first mountain bike to be mass-produced and has been on the market for 43 years. The 15th version of the classic trail bike from California aims to be an all-rounder even more than before, which is made clear by the fact that there will no longer be two versions (Stumpy & Stumpy Evo). The latest model year of the Stumpjumper, which comes with 150 mm of suspension travel at the front and 145 mm at the rear, will now have both versions merged into one chassis. In order to achieve the properties of the much-quoted "jack of all trades", the fifteenth Stumpy has six different geometry options. The option to adjust the shock characteristics and the choice between full 29 or mullet construction, with the exception of frame sizes S1 and S2, which only use different tire sizes.
The biggest innovation on the new Stumpy, however, lies at the heart of the stylish carbon frame. The "Genie" shock absorber, developed in collaboration with Fox and patented by Specialized, is said to boast the traction and control of a coil shock absorber while offering better bottom-out protection than previous air shock absorbers. In addition, thanks to the adjustable platform, it should be possible to transform the Stumpjumper 15 from super "plush" to maximum "poppy".
The new Stumpjumper 15 starts at €4,500 and comes with a classy S-Works frameset. Complete bikes range from €6,500 for the Stumpjumper Comp to €13,000 for the S-Works model. The "Pro" version we tested for €9,500 in size M weighed around 14 kg on the luggage scales imported from Germany.
As part of the product launch, we had the chance to test the Stumpjumper 15 Pro for you. All impressions can be found in the video and in the detailed test on MTB-News: www.mtb-news.de/news/neues-sp...
