To be fair, "I think I hear a baby crying. Am I going mad?" is a pretty apt description of Bloodborne's second half. All the changes you noticed (like, say, there suddenly being a Cthulhu-like entity hanging out in a church) are usually triggered by killing Rom ("The Byrgenwerth spider hides all manner of rituals, and keeps our lost master from us."), but a lot of them also occur if you reach 40+ Insight pre-Rom. Consuming 30 Madman's Knowledge in one go is like doing a kegstand of all the things a human mind is not equipped to handle - you're bound to see some weird shit :) Also, if you're feeling completely without a clue (and somewhat out of your depth at times) - that's by design, of course. You've no idea how thematically relevant not-being-able-to-comprehend-what's-going-on is gonna be. There's a stat named Insight, after all :) Nice job on the bosses! These vids are great :) Cheers! x

I find that explaining the plot of this game to people who have not played bloodborne always results in me sounding like a lunatic. “And theres these people, they’re nuts, they’re trying to implant eyes on their BRAINS so they can commune with cosmic god entities”. The more i try to explain, the crazier the plot sounds and i love it everytime! Like describing the story makes you MAD! The more you understand bloodborne, the more you lose your mind!

About the changes in the Hunter's Dream and the sound of that baby crying: those changes happen when you defeat Rom or when you have enough insight. 50 insight for the music in the Dream and 60 for the crying. Insight also lowers your frenzy resistance, so that's why your frenzy bar was so small.

This continues to be the best blind play-through of Bloodborne I’ve seen yet. Your reactions are gold! You did amazing on all the bosses so far too! Figuring out about Numbing Mist with Vicar Amelia, getting strong enough to defeat Paarl, besting the Shadows of Yharnam, and beating Rom as well? Very well done. Now you’ve reached the turning point of the game…where it all turns into an absolute Nightmare. Those creatures…the Amygdalae…aren’t from the natural world. Yharnam is also changed now, and the beasts have overtaken everything. Yaharghul is the most horrific place now, and what you’ll find there is the result of that Mensis ritual you overheard when you first woke up in the dungeon. The choir above you, that is. But I won’t ruin it for you, because the way you carefully examine the lore is bound to help you uncover everything. I only now strongly suggest checking on your NPC friends when you can! Your friend at the window, Arianna, the people in the chapel…things are happening now.

  • @Nightingail126

By the way, the game does change based on your insight. You normally wouldn’t be able to see the Amygdala if your insight was below 40. The music in the Hunter’s Dream did change based on that too. It’s pretty trippy. Oh and, that poor lady in the dungeon will go to the Cathedral Ward if you talk to her again, haha. Just FYI!

I love this playthrough as well even though I'm very late to it. The way she uncovers alot of the lore and mechanics by reading everything is so satisfying to watch. My only concern is that she's playing very slow and going over areas multiple times which is causing her level to get really high, much higher then what it should be at this stage. She kinda ruin the Shadows of yarham fight because she was already at like 55 and did it first try easily because her damage was insane. At this current rate I think she'll beat the game around level 70-80 which in my opinion is 10-20 levels too high. I don't know if she's going to do the dlc before fighting moon presence but if she's does then she's going to be SUPER OP for that fight.

Run like a maniac from the bugs... Calm like a zen master and absolutely boss Rom! This was the weirdest stream 🤣 You chose a funny time to boost your insight. If you'd left it low then you wouldn't have been able to see the amygdala in the chapel, and it's very creepy when you get picked up by an unseen hand. But killing Rom means all the amygdala become visible, which is when most people see them. High insight also makes you more susceptible to frenzy, but I think you figured that out. Keep your sedatives handy 😉

So excited to watch this! Your God of War and Bloodborne videos have been carrying me through a rough time. Work has been so stressful and my soul feels like it's screaming sometimes while "high profile" clients use me as their emotional punching bag. Your videos help me destress and enjoy the game through your eyes. You seem so sweet and genuine that it feels so easy to connect and relate to you. Also, if you like zelda games, you might want to try a randomizer. Zelda randomizers are super fun for those who have played the game a lot and want to experience it in a new way. It can randomize things from rewards, rooms, and ocarina of time can randomize what part of the timeline you're in (ex. kid link in the adult town of hyrule). You can set the randomization based on the level of challenge or surprise you're looking for. Wishing you all the best, good food, good times with loved ones, and good memories!

What a great way to start off my rainy Saturday 👁 and great job with Rom! I love that boss fight, she’s not very difficult but I love the whole setting, the music and how lore-heavy she is! Byrgenwerth and Rom are always such a highlight for me, I love stepping out the the seemingly endless, oppressive woods to this quiet, near empty lakeside building with that brilliant full moon hanging in the sky. I only wish Byrgenwerth was a bit larger honestly! I couldn’t help but laugh by how badly you rogered yourself by eating all that insight though lmao - that is why you were getting frenzied in 2 seconds before you equipped the rune - the more eldrich insight you have, the faster you succumb to madness. I feel like whoever said to do that was definitely having you on >. Also not gonna lie I was absolutely triggered when you just left Adella in the Gaol, genuine curveball right there, was not expecting that 😂 I def want to say something about arcane though - you really, really don’t want to waste 10+ levels in arcane at this stage of the game just meet the stat requirements for a few of the tools. It is extremely not worth it - they would be useless until your arcane stat was MUCH higher, and arcane builds are a completely different play style that rely a lot more heavily on item management and specific gems. The arcane damage and scaling on your weapons is negligible compared to your physical damage output so putting points in arcane is going to have very disappointing returns on that front as well. I don’t want to tell you how to play at all but do remember that the absolute number one piece of advice new Bloodborne players receive is to focus on strength/skill on the first playthrough and leave arcane/bloodtinge for the future, because you definitely can roger your build. 50 is the cap for strength/skill/bloodtinge, you wanna focus on getting your main stat up + more vitality. Sorry about the long-ass comment 😅 and thank you for another fantastic and very fun video! Looking forward to the next one.

+1 to this. I will say that timing the attacks of the Bad Santas is very awkward compared to most other enemies. I just noticed (because you mentioned it purring) that Darkbeast Paarl is more feline than canine (unlike the other beasts you fight, that are all pretty wolf-like) also, high Insight has three effects: increases how frenzy builds up (which can be lethal), unlocks certain extra moves for mobs (I think at 15 insight) and reveals more of reality around you (above 10 you see the Mad Ones at Hemwick during the night, above 40 you see the Amygdalas *everywhere*, above 60 you hear the baby cry and the Hunter's Dream music changes), but that last effect also happens by killing Rom, so that point is moot now

The tonitrus is a fantastic weapon for specific purposes, as it's not uncommon for enemies (like Rom) to be weak to both blunt and bolt damage, which the tonitrus is high in both. I almost always have it as my secondary weapon, because it is usually highly effective against the enemies my primary weapon is not so great against. It doesn't make a good primary weapon, because it degrades very quickly. I definitely recommend upgrading it to at least a +9 without sacrificing primary weapon upgrades.

The music for Hypogean Gaol is super unsettling and I love that about it. The use of voice in it is crazy cool. Also the game post-Rom is my favourite cuz it really ramps up the Eldritch Lovecraftian elements and goes from a spooky game to downright scary. Amygdala is one of my favourite monster designs in any game ever. I love this game and these videos.

What a fun ride. From playing hide and seek with the piggies and playing tag with the flies to uncovering the truth hidden by spider-shrimp-blob. The fun really begins now. Now your eyes are open. Cant wait to see your reactions to the world changes and would love to see you tackle CAinhurst soon. PS: Even though you missed further dialogue from that NPC in gaol, you actually dodged a bullet there. Not a big loss there. In fact it will indirectly help you get the most complete ending.

The entire mind-bending first trip from the right of the Great Cathedral where the Lesser Amygdala grabs the player, takes them to the Lecture Building, only for that player to basically go straight through that area into the Nightmare Frontier is always a joy to witness. It was even more insane for you since you had 40+ Insight already when you approached the right of the Great Cathedral, so you could already see the Lesser Amygdala hanging on the wall. Normally its invisible until it grabs you, only then does it become semi-apparent. It becomes fully visible in the short cutscene after. Loving this playthrough.

Hey Amber, that was another excellent and entertaining Bloodborne adventure! I always hated those insect things at Byrgenwerth, they are freaky! You might want to visit Castle Cainhurst soon. If that's something you are thinking of doing, be aware that once the initial cutscene plays out, if you die before you enter the transportation you will be locked out of the area for this playthrough (no pressure!).

Great video as always and you're doing a fine job of piecing things together so far! If you're looking for advice, I'd say now is a great time to investigate the cainhurst summons further. I'd recommend sticking to one weapon and learning the moveset. Leaping attacks, backstep attacks and transform combos are all really strong and worth experimenting with. One weapon you're familiar with, levelled up and with your best gems would be the optimal way to play imo, but of course do whatever you find most enjoyable, you seem to be doing just fine so far... It can be hard to stick to one weapon/playstyle, especially on your first go with all this new stuff being given to you! Some points in Arcane to use some of the hunters tools isn't a bad idea, especially if you use weapons with a bit of arcane scaling, you'll get a small damage boost from it too.

  • @fnargler

Tonitrus is a Strength and arcane weapon. Its trick form imbues it with bolt status and the damage is heavily boosted by arcane. It's very effective against some enemies later in the game. It's also commonly used in conjunction with the Logarius wheel in ST/AR runs.

This is a good time to do cainhurst and the nightmare frontier, both of which are optional. You should rate messages if you like them! I think it heals the player that wrote it. Try to write some helpful or funny notes of your own too! Just a fun little way to engage with the bloodborne community.

Hi amber, great job dealing with Rom you should explore the Nightmare Frontier next; you'll find lots of good loot there bring plenty of antidote and you should buy Fr Gascoine's outfit at the insight shop (it has poison resistance beside you have to much insight on your person) as well as fire paper. You should also explore Cainhurst Castle to get there you need to awaken at the witch's abode lantern kill the executioners and approach the Oblisk a cut scene will happen but don't Panick nothing bad will happen it will just take you to the castle. You should also stop putting points into endurance if you need the extra stamina, you have the anti-clockwise rune it will increase it by 10% and you should put some points towards Arcane at least till you reach 15. I'm totally enjoying the series it put a smile on my face when I saw pop up!

Now that you have fully explored the first floor of the Lecture Building, you have access to an easy blood echo farming spot, should you need it. Rather than entering through the door you initially entered through, which triggers most of the nightmare students to attack you, you can enter backwards through the side door and if you move around slowly and start with the back row, you can backstab all of them to death very safely.

The basic skinny on character builds is this: It's optimal to specialize in a specific combination of stats (in your case, Skill/Bloodtinge) because you can build them to their mathematical cap and use the rest of your points for HP and a touch of stamina; this is the most efficient/best way to build a character. *HOWEVER* optimum builds aren't necessarily the most fun. You can easily beat the game with a sub-optimal character (just upgrade your weapon). The arcane stuff is a lot of fun to play with! It's the closest this game comes to allowing magic builds, and it's awesome. There are a few items for dedicated arcane builds, and you'll want to steer clear of those. But there's no reason not to buff your arcane to 15 so you can play with more systems in the game. People on the internet often recommend you play in the most boring way possible. Don't listen to them. Have fun.

My other piece of advice, be more aggressive. You do a great job of looking around and catching details. That said, the game is made in a way that you can kick ass. I lazily got platinum without using items, other than vials, or my side arm. Take advantage of the revenge healing and charge at the monsters. The rhythm of the game is made so you can dominate if you push the tempo like sprinting through Mario lost levels. There is a rhythm to the game if you can fall into it. I say this only to tell you "you got this" no need to hold back... I'm really enjoying the play through so far. Great job!!

Level arcane if you want. It also increases discovery, and makes molotov's do more damage. The Blades Of Mercy scale medium well with arcane as well. You might have to do a chalice dungeon to get enough echoes. 32:15 She has more dialogue. I think it's too late though.

Hi Emma, regarding the Snatchers, I typically use a very specific combo to fight those enemies. Begin with 2 quick attacks - R1, R1. The snatcher will stop and go into its "charge" animation. During this animation, move to its back, and do a charged R2, then visceral for the kill.

GIRL YOU ATE THAT INSIGHT LIKE A BOSS It's very natural to be confused with this game's lore, btw (and you're doing much, much better than I was on my first playthru). The secrets and the stories are hidden in small details that make multiple playthroughs worth it. Regarding stats: your current stats are good for skill- or quality-build weapons (that use STR and SKL equally, like the Holy Blade). The Holy Blade is an incredible damage dealer in its own right and the papers add 80 dmg of their type. On the other hand, the Tonitrus uses Strength and Arcane so I'd advise against using it much. If you want, you can raise your Arcane up to 15 which lets you use the Beast Roar and Old Hunter's Bone. I'm a big fan of Castle Cainhurst. That place has a weapon you, as a fan of speed and parrying, might like, too. One other option: the DLC. It is definitely a challenge but it's possible to just get your toes wet and go look for some cool weapons. You can't do wrong by entering it, since it isn't a continuation of the main story but parallel to it. You can't spoil the main game by going there. P.S. I'm so glad you acknowledged the absolutely tremendous music at Yahar'gul. SANGUINE. SANGUINE.
