    Alexandra, you may never see this comment, but I had to stop by and tell you that I binge-watched your channel for over a week, seeking inspiration/a solution as to why I'd come to dislike our almost-tiny house so much. I knew if I just rearranged the furniture the right way, everything would pop into place. And then, I found THIS video. Which had the exact solution I needed: turn the couch around, and divide the entry area from the rest of the house! For the first time in years, I am loving our space again. Thank you so much for all the time you take in creating these videos. I'm sure you're helping many more frustrated homemakers than just me. 😀

    I vote for a breakfast nook by the fire or the bookshelf that was previously in her bedroom. It's too small a space to try and fit a reading nook but man, wouldn't that be amazing to sit next to the fire place with a book and some tea all cozy and calm.

    Agree with all the great suggestions here. I would move also the fridge to the corner, then fill in with more kitchen worktop and storage or kitchen dresser. Then put down a washable rug and a small cosy chair next to the fireplace, paint the wall behind fireplace, artwork, etc. It's a gift to have a fireplace, even in a kitchen!

    Suggestion for the patio doors with that crazy UNDER the deck view: use a double hanging curtain rod, and hang pretty sheers behind the blackout drapes. That way, she can still get the light (but not the skanky view) with the sheers, but when she wants to block the light at night (or whenever), she can pull the blackout drapes out. Easy breezy. ALSO, never neglect using MURPHY BEDS so you don't eat up a ton of real estate with a regular bed. Use a wall Murphy bed to fold up the bed for more space, then lower the mattress at night to sleep.

    to add to above: The view could have been prettified with hanging plants/flowers, and a couple of taller and larger planters - perhaps a small tree (or another fake tree) and a bistro set. The entire make-over was really gorgeous and transformative. Loved it.

  • @tyrnill

    @tyrnill

    For one thing, a Murphy bed is the opposite of renter-friendly. But even setting that aside, Murphy beds are terrible. Installing one is super expensive, and it's a huge pain to have put away and take out every single day, so you just end up leaving it out a lot of the time anyway, with the disadvantage that it can never be moved. And it renders an entire wall unusable - because, again, you can't put anything in front of it or hang anything on it unless you want to move it every. freakin'. day. No thanks!

    For the curtains, maybe you could hang a second curtain rod underneath the one with the blackout curtains, and add the linen curtains to that one. Then she could choose the blackout curtains at night, and close them during the day to have the linen curtains for privacy/aesthetic while still letting in the light during the day. Love the makeover, even if the table scares me... I'd break that thing so quickly 😅

    Since she had so little storage, I would have loved for some more pieces with drawers. Like choosing a vanity with a small drawer for make-up and hairbrush, etc. And there are tons of pouf seats with storage. That coffee table is gorgeous, but having one with drawers would have so helped keeping the the living room less cluttered. An armoire would have been great for her entryway rather than the coat rack, tons of storage! Same with underbed drawers. And maybe a small shelf underneath her bedroom divider wall. Since there is that odd void behind the bed, it would have been perfect to cut off the top rung of the headboard and have a shallow shelf there for her phone, a book, a notepad and pen, even a very small gooseneck reading light that could just be pulled forward when she needed it. This would save the space on top of that partition wall from getting cluttered and completely ruining the beautiful airy vibe the designer made.

    The accordion wicker room divider is warm, lush & exotic. Hanging it was an outstanding solution & keeps the Floor space! If you ever do the shelf/storage (which I love) behind the bed again…make it flush with the half wall top, then either: 1) get the carry-on luggage measurements for the width requirements, OR create 2 sliding/rolling carts for books & sweaters. You could even do both if they collapse/fold. Then, unused items could be in the back location or suitcases. The collapsed roller shelves could hang on headboard backside hooks. With suitcases against the wall, the first roller could have angled books racks on top & sweater baskets underneath. A rotating wooden, daisy knob could rotate the shelves into position or down into a collapsed position. It Looked Fabulous!

    What a fantastic makeover! You maximized her space and created a roomy but cozy living room and a very elegant bedroom. I love the placement of the sofa and the TV. The coffee table is stunning, and the console table and the beautiful bench at the foot of the bed are functional and stylish. I love what you did at the doorway - giving Chris a place for all that shoe clutter without taking up space. It's so difficult without a true entryway, but you did it! This makeover is definitely one of my all-time favorites!

I like that they have vision board ideas to narrow down there ideas too. I love how her whole team works side by side, offering suggestions, thinking out side the box at times to assist her in her vision of the space. I also enjoy watching her and Graham bring ideas to life that once was in her head. Simply brilliant. Final thought, I love that she is branching out in her designs, and showing us the various styles. Bravo, team AG.

    Great ideas, minimal effort, renter and budget friendly, , repurposed and redivided space, new color scheme, add a little texture, functionality and coziness… You made it look so easy to turn this cramped narrow space less of a basement and more into a ‘living’ My compliments on showing us the tricks by adding little bits and pieces and making them work. It also provides these girls a complete new basis to grow the space even further. For instance by making the tv wall an accent wall and gradually adding a few pops of color here and there. The room can definitely use more olive or sage green 👍🏻

    Just an idea for a headboard like that: maybe make it wider and put some shelves like two 2x2 Kallax from Ikea with rolls underneath it. Given they sell baskets for them, you can put stuff in them without seeing it through the headboard and it is very accessible. I had a bed setup once, where I had my bed between 4 small Kalaxes and it was cozy and had plenty of storage 😊

    Could get those rolling out storage centers to put into the area made by floating shelf and headboard. Kind of like the ones by washing machines or spice stoarge but bigger? Or make custom. Could put extra cleaners or bathroom supplies. A hobby center if she does that, emboridery etc. I sew and have an entire building now but I used to have all foldable tables etc. and shove in a closet. So I would put my machine on a pull out rolling shelf under the bed and put all my sewing supplies in the rolling cart or extra towels and bedding, blankets.

    Studio Fix is my absolute favourite ❤ and this is the first time I've EVER disagreed with some layout choices. My hands are itching to get in and elevate the bedroom. I believe every room needs a heart, but as it stands, the bedroom currently reads like a corridor. I'd lose the console, and move the chest of drawers (looking so much better with the new feet and handles) across from the bed. Then, instead of the little cushioned bench, I'd put a small easy chair diagonal to the bed, in that odd shaped corner. Then a rug inbetween, in front of the mirrors, creating a small dressing room. I'd also prefer a screen between the bedroom and lounge, rather than behind the sofa. And replace the freestanding coat unit (not AG's usual taste) with decorative hooks and shoe baskets. As I say, first time I've ever pictured a studio differently than AG's finished result. And even so, as always, the studio looks so much prettier, more adult, and more functional than before.

If l may suggest: A wall mirror above the entry table in addition to the stand-up one. l know faux plants are aesthetically pleasing, BUT real plants convert the carbon dioxide we exhale with every breath into breathable oxygen. SHE HAS AN ABUNDANCE of light coming in that door that would benefit plants greatly.
