Hey guys! I'm Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. Today I am making over my living room (again), hopefully for the last time! I finally figured out what to do with that blank tv wall (and the solution is renter-friendly!) and the space feels so much brighter!

Love that the cat tried out the sofa, the rug and the chair and didn't seem to know which one she liked best. And completely shunned her own bed! LOL!

PS - Your pink sofa... I just researched the Furniture Bank in Canada and am very impressed with this organization. Alexandra, you not only show us all how to decorate and solve spacial issues, but you share your resources like this one. It's heartfelt to know that your beloved pink sofa will live on in the care of someone who is in need.🌟 Bravo at setting a good example.🌟

My favorite part of this video was hearing the pink sofa would be going to a family in need. Well done, Alexandra. Please consider a rug pad under the pretty rug. If you leave as is, it is of course a tripping hazard, but coupled with the fabric of the couch, its just too much slouching. The smoothness of the rug with a pad, will elevate the sofa, regardless of the slouch. Curious, do your feet touch the floor when you sit back on the couch?

I cannot believe how much the molding made a difference on that wall... it's incredible! And Lottie LOVES her new chair!
Though I’m sad to see the pink sofa go, I think this white sofa really helps to ground and brighten the space up in the best way. Love this makeover!
I love how much brighter and inviting the room is! Lottie sitting on the chair when she has her own fancy bed, such a classic cat move 😆
I have got to say that your videos of you redecorating your own apartment are my favorites. I rewatch them all the time. It’s okay if you make a decision you don’t like. Just make another decision! Carla’s cat cam is on point! Love seeing Lottie between every shot ❤
That looks so good! The symmetry of the cord covers, to me, mean they don't interfere with the look of the moulding at all - it all just looks deliberate and works really well.
Another great refresh/revision. For me, the placement of the L-shaped cord lends a funky, geometric aspect to the molding, which is more traditional. It works for me! Smart and creative, as always. BTW, Lottie is adorbs (and tolerant, lol).
Your living room is absolutely beautiful. I'm glad you still have the bird light. It is so cool.

@@AlexandraGater I love how funny your team members are.
Polished, mature, classic yet fresh. Glad you are decorating your yourself. Stunning ❤
Hi Alexandra, when it comes to decor of your place, don't worry what people think. What's important is that you are happy with the outcome, feel comfortable and works for your lifestyle. It looks as beautiful as everything you create. I love your style.
My primary thought about this makeover - I’m stunned at just how chill Lottie is compared to my maniacs! I’ve got two Maine Coons who are just over a year old, and now I look at every decor decision with an eye to how my cats would react to it 😄 That string of hearts would be ON THE FLOOR in two seconds flat (which would be a tragedy), and I’m pretty sure the bird light would absolutely torment them as they plotted ways to reach it and hunt down those damn birdies 😹 My dining area is currently more of a junk zone, right next to the kitchen and where my new massively tall fridge-freezer lives… and the top of it doubles as a cat perch/bed (I had the perfect sized square cushion for it that I’ve had ever since before I went to uni 20 years ago, which is incredible/a sign of my true hoarder status 🙃) There’s a short little basic pendant light cord (with no shade) coming out of the ceiling, and it initially had a bulb in it… but my cats decided this whole thing was actually their punching bag now they can reach it from on top of the fridge 😹 Also - the bench stain colour is *perfect*! 😍
Genuinely love everything you do no matter the style, and also appreciate you being transparent about the process in your own space!
It's YOUR space. There will always be folks who don't share your aesthetic vision, thats ok. Its good to have different opinions in play, it helps us expand our vision. Your channel may be aimed at small space renters but the generally theconcepts work in any space. We lost our home to fire last year and are just at the place of unpacking the storage unit and deciding what stays and goes. The benefit is I can shop what I already own to start making our new small house our home. Thank you.
Love the molding , the light fixtures and the return of the bird light 😊 Lottie approves of all the seating choices 😂 Soft and pretty, just like her.
Third time is definitely the charm in this case!! Fantastic!!!! It kinda makes me sad that you felt you couldn’t make your living room your own because you’re too worried what the audience will think/say. It’s YOUR home! Do what you love and to hell with the rest!

I totally love the bird light. I made one nearly ten years ago after I saw it on a UK site for £175. I’m glad your one is back where it belongs.
The way Noah looks at you directly when he says , "Well done!" is EVERYTHING!!!!!!❤❤❤
Glad I'm not the only one who does a room over more than once. My bedroom went from English Cottage with giant roses and chamois colored walls to white walls and blue florals to butter yellow walls with thrift store lamp and beige paisley duvet to gray walls with white curtains and bamboo shades and brown and white duvet to white walls (again) with atonal original art and black and white photos and a black and white Marimekko duvet. Whew. Thought I was finished, until I started watching the AG team.
Dear Alexandra, so happy to hear that you’re following your heart to make your home just the way you’ve imagined. Can I be cheeky and ask if you could do make over in Graham’s home?
I love how your cat has claimed every spot in the room! Beautiful outcome and smart choices. Love it!
I haven’t stopped thinking about Furniture Bank since you shared this, Alexandra. I didn’t know furniture poverty was a thing - I should’ve realized. I have a couple of pieces to donate now. Thank you

Same. I'm renting a loft room in London and man, it really gives you life to have a space feels like your own.
I have laugh at the idea of a 5 year old couch being soooo old. Confused that she didn't get white covers for it like how she covered it in different pink covers last time.
Loved this makeover of AG's livingroom; the new sofa, the refurbishing of the bench, and the chair with the rounded armrests in an apricot color scheme were the highlights of this vid.
couch + carpet + coffee tables are chef's kiss 💕

This space is so beautiful, inviting, sofisticated but still with a touch of your personality ❤ I love everything in it. I even think the cords go with the mounding because it's sort of geometric. However! I have to say my favorite thing is lottie claiming that beautiful armchair for herself 😅 she's adorable
Alex, this is stunning! I'm crazy about that rug! The couch is so beautiful and the stain on the bench is perfection. Soooo glad you put the bird light up again, it is a treasure from that past, that had to be included. Enjoy!!! 💓
I personally loved the bird light in the kitchen but I totally understand the practicality of a brighter kitchen
The makeover looks AMAZING! Props to James for including that little clip of you and Lottie - it really made my day!!
loooove the transformation and the stylistic versatility of all pieces!! such a great blend of neutrals, interesting shapes and pops of beloved colours. the more restricted colour palette also makes the stained glass so much more of a *moment*. love to see it 🐔
We've missed you! Idk about this every 2 weeks post.
Personally, not nearly enough colour for me, but the important thing is that you love it! Love the natural wood and modifications to your TV bench.I am not a fan of the mouldings, only in that they collect dust. Used to live in a cool place with gorgeous period picture rails that I loved, but I was a slave to dusting them. My current place has very clean walls and so much less work to keep dust free. Love your videos and always enjoy seeing what's next!
I was going to meditate today but instead I watched one of your video"s!!! Love the sofa and chair and new couch and the color of the table. Thanks for being here to calm me down.
When I was going through a really bad depression and mental health period , these videos saved me, they gave me something to look forward to . ❤ This makeover has to be one of my favourites, I went this makeover lol. Living room makeover A+, love the checker rug, the 2 wood coffee tables. That sofa looks so comfy like you melt into it. Great job Team AG.
your spaces always bring me so much joy! I remember watching your vids in the tree house and it would inspire to fix my room and restroom when I was living with my mom! and now I live on my own and I still find myself rewatching your old vids and new vids for inspo!
I'm so happy the bird light stayed in the house. It's so pretty and iconic. Also, 10/10 here for the ending of you aggressively kissing your furbaby. I think every furmom can identify with that.
I love that you are making this space over for what fits your style. You do so many things for people and you deserve to come home to a space that makes your heart happy. Turned out lovely! That sofa looks like heaven!!!
Love how your living room turned out! All the textures and tones feel really well-balanced now.
I love that your style evolves and you bring it home and let us watch!!! Perfect
I love the peel and stick moulding, but it’s quite expensive for me. A whole wall is gonna be $900 Australian dollars to do. Looks gorgeous though.

Lottie paw of approval is good enough for me 🐾😊 Such a beautiful makeover. I feel like everything in the space has it's moment and chance to breathe.
For my personality type, the cord covers are my favorite thing and I really dig the extra pattern they make! 😊
i really wish that there was more of a focus on sustainable decor in your videos rather than ordering new things from companies with horrific human rights violations like h&m. Vintage items/thrifted items/pieces from places like facebook marketplace can be found that will fit any style and don't contribute to overconsumption and waste.
I’m surprised you don’t thrift more, save the planet.
Beautiful!! I love it, much more cozy and inviting. Thank you especailly for keeping the bird light! My fav!
Omg, it's phenomenal. Love it all.... It's a comfy grown up space with the quirkiness of fun. Ty for sharing.
Too much stuff delete a few items and a pillow.
The pink sofa was pretty, the new one is plain and ugly no matter how you style it, it will have no character, and it looks like an ill fitted bed with cushions that are way too big. Take it back. .
I've loved your videos for ever now! I was so happy to see the pink couch get donated to a worthy cause. I coupon for personal care items, and it all goes to our local women's shelter. It's a great feeling!
Love it. Clean,bright,comfy,and amazing.
That string of hearts will be happier in its old spot, with more light ❤
Omg! Kitty matches the couch PERFECTLY!
Loved the molding as it really made a change in the TV wall. Thumbs up on that add. 👍
Nailed it! Love new bench color. It's such a well put together room that looks effortless. 😊❤
I own my home but these videos are for everyone's home! My home is 1025 Sq. Ft so it's "small" and this designer is teaching me how to decorate and style my Casita.
I really like that your videos are focused on small apartments. Many people (me included) live in small spaces. Thank you very much for your great ideas in making our small spaces more charming and lovely. 💕💕
Love, love this, Alexandra. The bench now goes better with the framed tv; the flooring and the dining table. Love the "paneling on the tv wall" - wow what a difference it made!
