Have just cancelled my box today, was so mad when i saw the review and was so hype to play with The Lion, got both models 30k and 40k ones...But hey can still paint them...just need to focus on one of my other armies...but had hope to stick to Darkangels :( @@SimplyWarhammer

0:52 Lion didn't just lose his -1 to Wound, he also lost 50% of his sweep damage from 2 down to 1. So he is a melee centerpiece character that will now do less damage and will be a lot easier to kill.

You know what’s even crazier. His sweep is now equivalent to Helbrecht, the only difference being the Lion has 4 more attacks. But everything else is the same.

Think it is revenge from when we had termies and innercircle stuff that got "can only be wounded on 4+" But alot of ppl came around that with just blowing you off the table with Mortal wounds xD

Wow thats a long time ! big feel bads in the new codex its a shame, they are the definitive terminator force in my eyes

Feels like they went too far on the Knights, had two ideas but should've picked one. Reduce their damage, or reduce their numbers, not both. Same with the Lion. Reduce his damage, and removed his -1? He carries the Emperor's shield. He should be extremely tanky. He tanked Angron! Didn't he blow up a planet recently?!

I don't understand the Primarch being nerfed !! And overall loads of the changes didn't feel necessary, especially for me how little AP the army had

The way you were saying it was ALL terminator squads are limited to 5, which isnt the case, you can still have a 10man terminator squad deepstrike turn 1 with a Terminator Captain and Ancient, so 12 Terminators.

Sorry for the datasheets the deathwing knights are limited to 5 now. And for the enhancement it does say a deathwing model so as long as the character has it they can bring another unit and can deep strike 👍 so yes 10 normal terminators 😁

It looks like gw intended for deathwing knights to be objective holders with the new deathwing detachment. Still think they should have kept damage 3

I wanna try it with my non dark angels army since overall it seems like it’s a better version of the first company task force. The fact that blade guard vets and stern guard should get buffed by the rules gives me some pretty fun lists to run.

@@SimplyWarhammer Primarch or no. The biggest loss we suffered in this Codex is the loss of the Dark Angels unique playstyle. I feel they did everything they could to get old units out for us to having to draw our wallets to replace them. I guarantee next we will see is a point reduction across the board to get the Dark Angels back on track and making us get.. more models... so we can become the next horde army out there, swamping the orks in hordes of Deathwing terminators.. Though the Ork in me does laugh at that a little.

Dangels are paying the price for 9th. Someone else's turn this edition. I've not played anything but gknights so far but after the data slate drops I'm thinking of giving black templar vanguard a go 🤔

They also did Inner Circle Companions dirty too. They're worse than BGV in every way

Then with points drops votann became more of a horde army 🙈 We haven't seen the points yet as the codex isn't on general release, all a bit weird but there's an opportunity for them to adjust but not sure they will as there won't be tournament data ...

Yer, after people buy more, they get adjusted and you don't need ad many, and the changes may be quick so people could still be painting them before playing !

I don’t dislike Codexs coming with a bit of a nerf it’s far better than what they did for 9th my problem is simply the nerfs feel deflating and the detachments don’t inspire me to make a list. I did warm up to the Admech codex but I really doubt I’ll do the same here.

That's a good way the phrase it, feeling deflated from the rules! I also agree the way codices were released in 9th was game breaking and rubbish... at least the harmony of some balance we have now (7 or 8 different factions in LGT top 8) is great and this won't break it. They aren't trying to sell the new boxset by making broken rules so there's another silver lining... I'm not sure I'll play this much either tbh !

It wouldn't matter if he did have the keyword. Most of the stratgems require it to be deathwing INFANTRY which the lion is not he's a monster for some stupid reason.@@SimplyWarhammer

Yep another good point ! He should just work as a primarch special rule, he should synergies. GW obviously wanted to say its a terminator detachment without saying that as they are selling a terminators box 🙈

It is a shame about the codex and now points but things change a lot and quickly so they could be in a better position when things are built and painted lol It's a nice looking army with cool lore so it's not a bad choice to go for 😊

-Mace of Absolution should at least get 1 more AP if they lost that 3 damage -Lion's shield should at least give a -1 to hit if they want to nerf that -1 to wound -The Inner Circle Companions must have an invulnerable save. At least 4++ -Bring back Land Speeder Samael

Necrons was ok with some interestingly play styles but this feels like an admech release ! it'll be 3 months from general release min before we see any attempt to balance and improve them 😒

Hard to be a Dark Angels player rn (good thing I have Custodes and just started World Eaters lol)

World Eaters are fantastic fun, I live em 😁 Custodes are likely to get a glow up tomorrow so that's only good lol... bring on none forgeworld kits though !

My two armies are dark angels and admcech :( At least I started collecting Knights to take as allies, hopefully they don't get nerfed too.

Some people forget it's only a game agreed and surely most play time isn't at tournaments, I just think there's a feels bad when a faction you are invested in just isn't what you hoped... or you realise your mate will definitely always beat you now with these units lol

@@SimplyWarhammer 50 plus magnetized termies and knights in total I think. Had a ton of extra arms with weapons and shoulder pads too of course... when chainfists were the best and then lightning claws and then relic termies and then stormshield thunder hammers idk I don't remember but you know what I mean. They're the wrong scale anyway and that would of bugged me. I got the new boxes of course but should even bother doing all that hobbying is the question or just return the boxes.

Oh wow some lucky person picked all that up, still a cool collection... the new models are gorgeous but yer is it worth it, will they be played in big numbers.... max 5 squad size is a killer for me

So far the codexes have been The good: space Marines, necrons (kinda) The meh: Tyranids (the army i play) they're fun but we have to spam 3 data sheets because everything else is kinda underwhelming. The awful: Admec, hordy elite units that are super expensive with mediocre detachments. Death angels got thwacked that's it be funny if Warhammer wasn't such an expensive hobby.

It changes pretty quickly and often faster than we can buy models, build and paint them 🙈 I'm sure GW watch content about factions and it influences them, shame its only every 3 months and often not that quick

its a travesty, like damn GW. we had something like a 45% winrate previously and now with pretty much all our unique units being strictly worse DA will just be either green space marines or hot garbage

Again the differing quality based on writers I imagine shines through, such a shame. Rules should be digital and GW shouldn't be scared to change when they get it wrong and not just through a dataslate which will never have a massive section in for dark angels so you are stuck with the codex rules now

Yup after they gutted the high elves in fantasy, I stopped buying GW products. Almost considered continuing my Dark Angels army after they resurrected the Lion. Glad I didn’t give in. They ruined my two warhammer armies.

Yer defo, there's a few combos that work well.... without DA units 🙈 It's possibly something that gets shutdown by GW like the Crypteks in Necrons buffing units

Exactly, it may get left if GW realise the codex is a little weak... but if people spam that in tournaments and it does well then GW will nerf it back 😞

I know my regular Dark Angels opponent isn't happy with the changes but personally I find they feel more balanced now than with the data sheets.

In 9th they were horrible lol but ultimately we need to play the rules and get some reps before we can really see. If they are fun to play and they are beautiful models that's potentially enough 😁

The codex would have to have awesome rules, but it doesn't. Even units that were meh or bad recived nerfs. Why can't the terminator sgt take a fist, just like the regular terminator one? Why do people have to sacrifice the cmd squad part of the knight box , to get power swords no one will ever use? Taking 3 DW special characters and 30 hellblasters is the "DW Fantasy" , this edition?

Yer that's normally the case, agreed. I think when the faction specific units are poor, the alternatives are generic space marine units, and then why use them as dark angels, the gladius detachment is probably better all round...

Exactly ! That's the problem. When the faction has been nerfed and the detachments aren't that special then why play DA, other than because you just want to

I'm not so shocked about the squad limit to 5 for the knights. They are already super tanky and having them as a small elite squad like a custodes guard unit makes more sense IMO.

Yer 10 was oppressive, especially with a character and the -1 damage, still a shame though. Their melee has gone down now AP1 attacks is poor when 50% of the meta have armour of contempt !

Always make your purchasing decisions on what you like or want to hobby on, rules changes so frequently. In 3 months there will be an update and things change again, you have to enjoy the models you have and play through it 😁 rule of cool always wins
