Robert DiBetta Egon meets Ulrich in 1986. Ulrich was arrested by Egon in 1953 and never left, he was placed in a mental asylum for 33 years. Egon then visits him 33 years after he was put there. Egon dies shortly after that so he isn’t alive in 2019/2020

My only aim is to take many lives. The more the better I feel.

Too bad we didn't see how he died. What incredible sadness and anger must arise in such a person who is trapped in time and can do nothing. For me Ulrich was one of the best characters ... he knew that his son was alive, he almost did it, but unfortunately he died in the end ... at a time when he never belonged.

unfortunately? lol i get that hes had a lot of trauma but the guy was an absolute sleazebag in every timeline we saw him in, in every world. cheats on his wife, cheats on the woman he cheated on his wife with, beats a child nearly to death for a crime he has no conclusive proof that the kid's adult self would go on to commit, is generally a dickhead to most ppl, etc.

Bruh I've watched this series twice and not once did I realise adult Ulrich and old Ulrich are played by different actors. 🤯🤯

There's a great bit in season 1, when upon releasing young Ulrich from jail in 1986, Egon explains that he recognizes the look on Ulrich's face as that of a criminal, and that is why he's so convinced of his immorality. What I love is that the look that Egon is talking about is the one he saw in the middle aged Ulrich’s eyes after arresting him in 1953, which was in turn created by Egon's own rough handling of Ulrich in 1986. Thus, Egon and Ulrich are both on the causing and effecting ends of each other's own timelines. Both are trapped in a closed causation loop in time, forever influenced by each other’s disdain of one another.

Fucking hell. This scene is so unsatisfying yet satisfying at the same time. On the one hand you fell the complete disinterest that Ulrich feels after so many years locked up, and on the other hand you feel the complete satisfaction that these two characters finally meet in this time period.

what an incredible moment this was first time watching seeing old Ulrich !!

Ulrich should have explained everything to Egon here.

He just check is he ( Egon ) come here becouse he find out the thruth, and as he realise hes not ( what wasnt correct exacly, Egon was full of suspicious, but he dont want believe it ) he decide to left things as they are, becouse in Ulrich mind, Ulrich know that whatever will going to happen - happend. And Ulrich left him clueless, as he saw Egon for all those years.

@@andychia3132 he cheated on his wife yes. But his wife was cheating on him too. Their relationship was effectively dead. So the only crime is that they both broke their vows. But neither of them were committed to the relationship at that point.
