Loooved this list! Another alternative for Delilah could be Dahlia which is a flower name. I know most British people pronounce it day-lia but in Australia we pronounce it dar-lia which I think is so soft and pretty.

Emma was and has been one of the MOST popular girl name for years now. My list of names for my daughter was Jade, Olivia, Amelia, and Camille. We picked none of those. I wanted simple, vintage but with a modern twist. Now we come back to Emma. My husband named our son after him so it was my choice this time but I wanted my husband to love her name of course its his baby too! He didn't like a single name I chose. After she was born we sat there for two days, and were down to the last hour before we had to fill out the paperwork before we left. Finally my husband turns to me and mentions a name that stuck out from the night before: Emmy. I loved it, I loved that he loved it. It was a twist on Emma, close to Amelia to me. It was right in line with what I wanted to name her. The modern twist we gave was spelling her name as: Emmie. We gave her my middle name so she is Emmie Marie. I get compliments on her name all the time, especially when we revealed her name. People's eyes brightened and I could tell they really thought we gave her such a pretty, fitting, and thoughtful name that was with the times we are in now but still has that vintage coolness to it that will stand the test of time.

An alternative to Isla that I love is Soleil (pronounced So-lay) meaning sun. To me it has all the softness, sweetness and lyrical qualities of Isla. I think it is outside the top 1000. Also Elia (pronounced Eh-lia) which again is outside the top 1000 and I don’t know why it’s so far down because it’s such a lovely alternative to Ellie and Eleanor and other classic vintage names

I am definitely a brave/daring namer. Which made it really fun at trying my hand at this same exercise! Here are the Safe, Brave, and Daring names I came up with: Adaline > Adele > Avalon Alice > Iris > Ione Aria > Arden > Ariadne Eloise > Elowen > Endellion Esme > Kerensa > Myfanwy Evelyn > Vivia > Vivendel Everly > Avery > Evening Hazel > Fable > Niobe Isabelle > Zelda > Azalea Jane > Juniper > Geneva (or January) Millie > Tesla > Tilhi (or Tesni) Madeline > Madelief > Meridian Nova > Stella > Tindra Olivia > Ophelia > Ovelia Sophia > Selah > Soraya Willow > Amaryllis > Aeronwy Rose > Posie > Ambrosia (or Poet) Ruby > Runa > Riviera Some I did as a progression of similar sounds while others were all around the same theme. So fun!

The main theme for my personal baby name list is magic or fae; if a name couldn’t be used for a fantasy character, then I don’t like it! 😉 Also, I’ve been thinking recently about the name Flora, seems like an underused vintage gem to me. I normally love the super out there names but Isolde just reminded me of iso like isolation thanks to covid! And Delphi makes me think of dolphin in Spanish like Delfín 🐬 bit not sure whether that makes me like it more or less …

Love this list!! Gonna go watch the boy list from last week. We just named our son Iivari (we pronounce it ee-var-ee in English). We were in love with Archer, but wanted something a bit more unique and found Iivari which means bow warrior, so similar meaning to Archer, but not ranked in the states and we felt it was a name that would grow with him as he got older.

Also wanted add, we use Ari as a nn which is “lion” in Hebrew or “eagle” in Scandinavian. So strong! Realistically we can use Archer as a nn as well 😊

Maeve is glorious, Mavis is definitely an edgier alternative, reminds me of 90's era band The Mavis's. When SJ mentioned names that are apparently quite common now she mentioned Connie, is that the full name or a nickname that is used? I ask because I adore the name Consuelo and would use Connie as a nickname, was not aware it had become popular! Deirdre is such a pretty and classic name. Isla alternatives: Ayla, Eisley, Twyla, Airlie. Violet alternative: Ayelet. Luna alternatives: Lumina or Oona. Delilah alternatives: Vitalia/Vidalia, Ursula, Sohaila, Shoshanna, Saskia, Rosalia, Elisheva, Cordelia.

We have Edith/Edie on our short list because it works so perfectly with our son Theodore/Theo. I love Delilah so was interested in your suggestions. I would pronounce Delphi as Delph-eye, but unfortunately where I live there’s a town called that and it’s famous for a very tragic murder a few years ago, so not an option. However, it made me think of the name Dulcinea with the nickname Dulcie. Love it, definitely a daring choice!

Love unique names and currently struggling to name my 2nd daughter due very soon! 2 minutes into the video and I can’t believe Maeve is now a “safe” common name 🥲😩 My first daughter is Maeve and I avoid common names so for it to now be considered as a popular safe name hurts a little 😅💔

You might have picked something already. But, I love Maeve too!! I think names that go well with Maeve are: Gillian maybe shortened to ‘Gilly’ when she’s young, it means child of the Gods. Or Aubrey which means ruler of the elves. Or Lilette which is a spin off of Lily and it means resembling a budding lily.
