My great gradmother was an Evelyn and her sister was Marilyn. She switched her first and middle names around though when she married, making her Larose Evelyn. Then her daughters are Lynda and Rosemary. My cousin named her daughter Evelyn after her. It's nice to still have it in the family, especially now that she's no longer with us. We're American and here it's almost exclusively said ev-eh-lyn/ev-uh-lyn.

I also love the nickname Winnie for a little girl. So cute!

I went to school with a girl named Nella ,, she was Italian and my step grandmother was Nellie, her sister was Irene but went by Rene pronounced Reenie , my paternal grandmother was Winifred, my maternal grandmother was born in 1922 she passed in 2019 @ 97 was Marie pronounced Maaarie and my name is Raelene Maree , I’m in Australia and was more common in the 50’s & 60’s and is usually because the fathers name is Rae,, it is also spelled a couple other ways Raylene / from Ray and also Rayleen.

I work as a teacher in China and it's so interesting seeing their choices of English names. There are a lot of names that I would consider "old" or "middle aged" as they have no context here. I teach a wee 3 year old boy called Roy which is so cute and hilarious!

Hazel and Eleanor were my top 2 when I was pregnant with our first (who is Rachel), but my partner veto'd them. I feel like Hazel is too close in sound to Rachel to use as a first name, and Eleanor didn't feel right when I was pregnant with our second (who is Mackenzie). We may or may not have third.

Dorothy is my great-grandmother’s name and my nan’s name, her daughter, is Valerie Joyce which I’ve always loved that name combination!

Definitely think I've found my decade, so many faves on this list. My first daughter is Frances (nickname Francie), and my second will be Sylvie if she's a girl (due march). I also think Ettie/Etta as a nickname for Margaret is such a sweet name, sadly too many e's and t's to go with my surname! Can't wait for the boys list next week, I'm so into these vintage names!

I had my little baby Ada Elsie on Valentine's Day this year and I had never heard of another Ada before that. We chose it because of Ada Lovelace. Lots of these names are so lovely!! Mavis is really interesting and different plus I've always loved Margot and Norah! Xx

I love so many of these! I've added a few to my list!

I have wanted to call my child ivy my whole life. I am called holly and was born on Christmas Day. My great grandmother passed away a few days before I was born and she was called ivy. It is such a beautiful family name for me. I am a few years off having a baby so I really hope it starts to decrease in popularity!!

My grandmother was born in 1921 and her name was Ethel Mae, and she had two younger sisters named Alma and Dorothy. I never knew how popular their names were at the time!

I love your outfit! Super cute! My favorites from the list are Vera, Sylvia. They are classic names but I think can work for kids too.

My 3rd girls middle name is Iris

That list was like ticking off names from my family tree. My Granny was Florence Annie and her sisters were Alice May (known as May) Gladys, Margaret (known as Peggy), Dorothy (Dot), Hazel Violet and Agnes. My Grandma was Irene and her sisters were Marjorie and Elsie. Two of my Great Grandmothers were Amy Gertude (who had a sister Nellie) and Alice. Dad's cousins included Sylvia, Doris and Frances. About 15 other names represented as wives of cousins or Great Uncles, as well as many more being friends they all knew. I think I need to go a generation further back for me to start thinking of names as vintage probably because I knew many of these names in my life time

Rosemary and Jane have been at the top of my baby name list forever!! 😍 Irene and Joan are my grandmothers' names, so I've always had a weakness for them as well. 💗

I really love the names Hannah, Rosemary, Josephine and Beatrice 💕 I think they'd definitely be in my personal top 5 somewhere. I think they all also have adorable nickname potential, with Rosie, Josy/Joe, Bea/Trixie etc

Also LOVE Phyllis!! Been on my list for ages from the railway children and one of my faves ❤️

I'm 22 and single, but completely obsessed with baby names. I have a whole list of hopeful names, and absolutely adore your videos. I'm also quite young and naive, and used to not like the idea of naming children after family members (especially Jr's or Fifths or whatever). My mom gave both my twin sister and I the same middle name, her middle name, Ann. And I used to think that I would never pass it on. That I wouldn't use a family members name unless it was a few generations old or something. Unfortunately, a few months ago, my mom unexpectedly passed away, and now the only thing I can imagine doing is naming my first daughter after her. Passing our shared name along. I don't know what made me never want to do that before - honoring a loved one is certainly never a bad thing. I don't know why I really wrote all of this either - I guess maybe to say: definitely pick names that you love, but also don't be afraid to pick the names of those that you love. Happy baby name picking!

I'm so sorry for your loss! I know your mom is still watching over you and she'll be incredibly honoured and happy to have your first daughter named after her, I think it's a beautiful way to remember her ❤ I also wanna honour my parents in my future kids middle names, though I'm gonna choose names with the same meaning - which could be lovely if you have 2 or more daughters and don't want to give all of them the same middle name, but still want to honour your mother somehow (so for Ann, Amara, Carissa or Sena could work) 🙏🏻❤ All the best to you, I know your mom is very proud of you ❤

I have always loved the name Elsie. So glad to see it on the list!! I also love the nickname Annie, from the name Anisten

Vintage names are my favourite type! My top 5 from this list are Margaret, Ethel, Ruth, Norah and Florence, but I absolutely love every one of the names here!

Of this list, Edith is my favorite with the nickname Edie. I think its darling!

I have an Edie who is 9 and I still love her name! I’m glad I stuck with Edie and didn’t use the longer form of Edith as I’d never have used it!
