Darin Olien is the New York Times best-selling author of SuperLife and host with Zac Efron of the hit Netflix series “Down to Earth,” but it’s his most recent work that may leave the biggest impact - or it should.
In his latest book, Fatal Conveniences, Olien explores some of the toxic products and harmful habits that are making us sick―and provides alternatives that are simple, non-toxic, and life-enhancing.
He calls them “fatal conveniences” because so many of these things are so ingrained in our daily lives - our toothpaste and deodorant, sunscreen, laundry detergent, cosmetics, and so much more. Darin sheds light on the fact that so many of these products are smothered in toxic chemicals, causing our planet and our bodies harm with conditions like chemical sensitivities, allergies, and autoimmune disorders.
Listen with an open mind and come away with ideas and alternatives to make your own lives healthier and less toxic. As Darin says today, “The more we awaken to making better choices, the more we can have agency to make change. Now that you know, you can do something about it.”

wow rip - didn't know you'd bring us to this place! I came for the plants, stayed for the in-depth looking past into everything. Rip treated us well - to something really nice! Didn't expect that - but got it - we all did.

Just starting to watch. Nice to see more people talking about the dangers of all of these things. Most of us know this information (or at least I thought), but seems like maybe many do not. Definitely purchasing this book. Only in the first 20 mins and I’m nodding yes! Yes! Yes! Absolutely true.

There are many options available now for nontoxic items from makeup to cleaning products. Thankfully. That’s a very positive thing. We can all limit these toxins and that’s great! Don’t despair, just do better.

24:26 this is why my deodorant is just pure (as close to the coconut as possible) extra virgin coconut oil. People think it's going to turn to liquid and go everywhere - but that's not an issue, because it doesn't do that when it's really thick. Coconuts are anti-microbial. They do the job. And if people worry so much - worry about deodorant in general that always stains clothes.

WOO!!! So so so good. Love Darin. Love his message. Love his energy and both your energies together. Proud you are men I can look to - and have my teenage boys look to - as great human examples. Can’t wait to read his book and continue leaning in.

I don’t think any of the fatal conveniences were ever innocent.

A pinch of salt in every glass of filtered water? That is a lot of sodium! What do you think, RIP?
