Daniel Boulud Challenges Amateur Cook To Keep Up With Him | Back-to-Back Chef | Bon Appétit
Ойын-сауық
French chef Daniel Boulud challenges amateur cook Jessica to keep up with him as they progress through Boulud's Tunisian brik pastry recipe in 15 minutes with their backs to each other. Without the benefit of visual aids, Jessica attempts to keep up with chef Boulud's hurried audio instructions (and accent).
An updated version of Daniel Boulud’s book "Letters to a Young Chef" came out on October 3. In it, he shares the story of his career and the lessons he has learned along the way.

Pretty sure Shane only eats like microwaved food, and instant noodles, and just like super basic stuff that you only toss on the pan without prepping when he has to cook for himself based on his knife skills.
Other than the scary knife skills, Jessica did a very admirable job. Besides the fact that no "Amateur Cook" would be making this dish.
@CarameliaM

Yes, but were you under time pressure when you made it the first time, with kind of unclear instructions from behind you? I think she did really well, considering the circumstances!

@@CarameliaM Nina didnt badmouthed her actions, she highlighted the fact, that a beginner can make the dish, and this is true. the problem wa,s that he used offical terms for cutting vegetables, while she is a beginner
They were so charming. They should cook together again.
I would have fell behind just peeling the potato. Kudos to her.
Chef Daniel Boulud I do like as i've seen him cook elsewhere. He was also real gracious to Jessica. So far in these challenges, Jessica has been the best Amateur Cook in performance. The overall funniest Chef duo and video though remains Gordon Ramsay and Shane. I luv the dish they created as well, interesting technique.

Go Jessica! I cooked professionally for seven years and this recipe is really technical! All things considered she did better than anyone else!
Why is this man purposefully going so fast lol! But Jessica is honestly so adorable!

They've done it like this for all the episodes. I think they find it funny and it sort of rams home the difference between how professionals work and communicate versus laymen. I don't remember them allowing questions from previous amateurs or she was the first one to actually ask for clarification.

I'm thinking something along the lines, "Split the egg, separate the egg yolk then add the egg yolk." I just explained how, "Split the egg" can easily be mistaken as something like "Crack the egg".

Publish more of these, I could watch them all day! These amateurs are actually doing a great job following top chefs like this
The chef is polite....For a French guy
Parschley
I love how patient and nice he was to her.
She tried. He was moving like he was in the weeds during a dinner service. lol
This woman is so confident and comfortable on camera. It's so fun to watch these two cook
I love her SO MUCH!!! She is such a good sport! She was trying to do the dish the best she could while being relaxed! I love her!!!!!!!
She does pretty well considering she was unfamiliar with recipe. Would like to see another pro chef try to follow a new recipe, with new techniques, this way.

I love this. So much better than the denigrating schadenfreude of those TV shows that shame people. Good fun and full of tiny little bits of info to expand your ideas on cooking.
They're both so sweet and wholesome it made my heart warm. I would love to see Jessica on another episode, he's adorable! Did great too!

Bring this series back!! It has such potential!!!
As an up and coming culinary student, I really enjoy these videos. I kind of look at them as insight to who I am now, and what I will one day be like. We really need more of these videos!
This one was the best so far! loved how he explained it to her at the end
"Hows the grating going?" "Grate"
She did fantastic considering she didn't speak the same language that 60% of the directions came in

She did incredible compared to the other guy they had on previously Plus chef had French accent and didn’t know half the words in English
These are the best.
Always amazed at how clean the chefs keep their station
Rly love tis series.. pls do moreeee...
This was very enjoyable to watch! It’s great how she, like the other guy before her, kept a good sense of humor while being uncertain during cooking. Cooking at home should be about enjoyment, so that’s a great attitude to have. She followed the instructions well, and I’ll bet she will improve greatly with practice!
This was heartwarming!!
I didn't realize these used to be so much harder. Damn. I'm glad they take more time explaining things now, it gives the celebrities a fair chance.
please make more of these! once a week!!!
Chef: Put a bit of egg white there Her: *sees no egg white since she put it on the wrap together with the yolk* Her: *takes the brush and tries to get the remaining egg white on the cutting board* 😂😂😂 god she's adorable 9:42

Larissa Kensington OMG, I died laughing when she started doing that. AMAZING. She never gave up and was totally a great sport about it.
they were both so cute haha. I think he was going so fast because this is something you have to make quickly and not overcook and do the salad and stuff while it was cooking so it needed to be done at a certain time. plus it's all about trying to keep up with an actual chef and how fast they would do it! I loved this one
Jessica is a joy to watch! She's so pretty and she's got such a great smile ❤️
Need more of these!!!
I've watched all of the vids of this series. Love them all. We need more!
Chef Daniel Boulud is the best! I love his restaurants especially the one in Miami 😍

A clean station is so aesthetically pleasing
This series, it’s alive and the 24 shift videos are my faves!
I love that the chef is mostly talking about the 'positives' of her dish, he is so nice XD
it's like BuzzFeed but good!
This was awesome.. they did great together.
The most amazing thing by far is how clean his chopping board is
so wholesome, now I want to cook alongside them!
omg i love this series
She has such a happy attitude for having it so hard with the accent and french words.
More of this!!!!
She did a phenomenal job. I don't know how she was able to follow him half the time. Wow!
He's so friendly~~ I'm gonna try this recipe now~
"That's about 30" literally puts 30 capers
i love french people hes so lovely
Keep these coming! I love this! Reminds me of the old show Can't Cook, Won't Cook.
Chef Daniel..always on point
They’re both such sweeties
This is one of the hardest Tunisian recipes in existence, maybe the hardest pan fried recipe in the world to my knowledge. She did AMAZING considering all of that!! Also, the whole egg is the farmer version of the Tunisian briq, so her briq is perfect to me.
Daniel is awesome! These shows are so good by the way. Super entertaining.
Jessica did super well consudering how complicated the recipe is, and how fast the chef was going.
this is just savage, but she did a pretty good job
6:22 *while holding giant knife* "The black dot?!" 😶😕
OMG, I love these two cooking. Best video out of all of them. Hahaha. Jessica was a trooper and the chef was such a great sport. AMAZING!
This is made harder just by the simple language barrier. "I don't know what it's called in English, so good luck." I LOVE DANIEL BOULUD
WONDERFUL SHOW!
She was by far the best so far!
This man is adorable and I want to see him more!
lmao this chef is so neat and this duo is so great to watch
Loved to video. Cheerful one.
This was lovely to watch :)
I love these
She is very patient, and good skills for an amateur. Good video.
I just had the most delicious meal at one of his restaurants. I love his food!! ❤️
