Dangerous CROSSWIND LANDINGS during a STORM - MULTIPLE ABORTED LANDINGS
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Finally I was able to film another Crosswind video at Düsseldorf. Almost two years after I made the last crosswind video the wind conditions were perfect for lots of crosswind action again. Check out the amazing skills of the pilots. Some of them realy had a hard time trying to land during these stormy conditions. We had wind speeds up to 55kts. I spend 7 hours at the airport and I was able to see 15 go arounds. Not all of them are shown in this video cause most of them already made a go around far before reaching the runway.
Featured planes: Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus A320, Airbus A330, Fokker 100, CRJ-900 and more.

That Russian A320 nailed it. Smooth touchdown and tracked the centerline very well indeed. Bravo!!
Absolutely incredible! Great job! Those Pilots had to show off some real flying talent there!
Frontal view is the only way to film crosswind landings in a most excellent way. Thanks!
Thank you so much for spending 7+ hours at the AP getting this video. And for continuing to produce such high quality, no nonsense, amazing aviation videos.
2:07 Did anyone else notice that the #1 reverser was inoperative?
@ilalbyybla
8 жыл бұрын
+Paolo Campos Yes .. I can't undestand why it was inoperative !
@SlowKlone
8 жыл бұрын
+ilalbyybla I think its to cancel out the effect of the crosswind pushing the aircraft to the left, higher forward thrust on the right engine would cancel it out. Just my though, correct me if wrong.
@william_2610
8 жыл бұрын
SlowKlone That's what I was thinking
@SuperRaptor4
8 жыл бұрын
+SlowKlone correct! when you do have adverse wind sheer and wind gusts on short final and touchdown then you would apply one reverse thrust to counter act the cross wind forces
@paolocampos5436

I dont fly the same equipment but I dont think I've come across any FCTM/FCOM that suggests the use of one reverser during cross wind conditions. But I do know that some planes maybe dispatched with one reverser inoperative depending on their MEL
This is top quality stuff as usual! Loved seeing how the pilots' skills are being put to the test.
Awesome videos! It shows how dangerous it is during landings in storms & how trained & skilled the pilots are!

FANTASTIC, breathtaking. HUGE like. Great skill Pilots
Some of those are shit scary, great captures, thanks.
Pure skill, I am in awe. Hat's off to all the pilots!
Great video. Nail biting stuff....
Anyone else notice the bird at 4:20 being a badman
Just amazing to watch, just goes to show how skilful the pilots are, They have a .big responsibility. and thanks to you for sharing your film
The pilot of the first plane deserves some recognition for his amazing skills. As he nears the runways, rather than taking the dive in and making the plane land on one wheel, he essentially flys just over runway, then as he nears, winds pick up, and increases trust..looks like was attempting a go around until you play close attention, he essentially increases trust and continues to fly low still gauging the situation. he could done the land, but rather than stress plane. but he flew within meters, continued to test waters and just did a go around.
Yet again another superb video - thanks!
Fantastic video and some seriously good pilot skills. Makes my stomach a little unsettled just watching. Thank you for your wonderful videos!
Awesome footage, thank you very much. I have to said I do like to land with some crosswind, and crabbing is my favorite technique.
Some of those guys came down so beautifully I actually clapped.
that emirates 777-300er really whipped his rudder when it hit the ground on the second attempt wow what an amazing video
Great clips thanks
03:52 was a fantastic landing! Great anticipation and reflexes.

Wow that A330 at 2:00 landed very hard. And the ANA 787 pilot very well done!
I was holding my breath everytime the plane is wiggling down. Pilots amazing skills indeed!
Awesome video!
Head on X-wind video's are by far some of the most entertaining video's to watch!! Incredible video mate!!
Thanks for the great video. Respect to these pilots...takes skill and nerves of steel to be one.
Thanks for the video
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5:54 Amazing :O
Great video,some great flying there! Thanks for sharing.
Hooray for the ANA Dreamliner. Badass!
Those flexible wings on the b787 does seem to do a great job at dampening out gusting winds, it seems like it had the most stable fuselage among all those planes
1:53 wow nice technique from the Turkish crew only using one reverse thruster.

@@TangHoaiNam There are no right or left side on planes or ships. There is the port and starboard side. Pilot didn't activate port side reverse thrust because he/she needed that engine to keep plane aligned in the runway. Makes sense. I bet that is the main reason to do so.

@@gokberkulker3931 No it makes sense to help the plane land easier And to stop it due to this wind it wound go it fast and not slow down therrfore use 1 to slower the power of stopping because the wind is making the approach slow anyway
0:56 Was amazing. He made it seem like calm winds.....
I just find it interesting..These pilots really earn their pay on days like this..Good videos
10inlong 3:20 appears to an experienced pilot. No experienced needed, this is the best aircraft ever made. He could land even if he was blind

+Andy Casbo I thought the turboprop at 6:13 did a damn good job, being its a lot lighter plane. I figure the bigger plane the easier to land....
@TE-oq1ze
8 жыл бұрын
+C D Kennedy thats right, the bigger wing makes it easier and for example the A320 is more iffy to fly than the bigger A321.
@StropSharp
8 жыл бұрын
+TE9994 Well a prop plane would be like a tractor pull with the bite of the props, rather than a jet which pushes from narrow nozzles thus making it more of a balancing for airspeed. Incidentally I wonder what their airspeed actually is, it doesn't look like much.
@TE-oq1ze
8 жыл бұрын
C D Kennedy the airspeed should be a little bit higher than minimum because of the possibility of sudden stall because of the windshear and turbulance conditions -> so over 132 knots (Airbus A330)
@TE-oq1ze
8 жыл бұрын
A320 needs a higher speed because of the smaller wing
Man i love to see those 757 in crosswind :)
Amazing crosswind landings. The Air Berlin A330 was kind off impressive the way it came in. Liked!!
4:51 nice landing!! respect!
Dude I have been watching and sharing your previous video hundreds of times! Am happy to see you posted a new one :P.. Keep those coming :)
Another amazing crosswind video! Great work!
Go with the flow.Amazing footage.Impressed
The Air Berlin A330 at around 6:00 made it look so easy, well executed!
Superb video 😃 nice to see another superb crosswind video from you.
Thanks for uploading. Wonderful machines. Very skilled pilots.
Great collection! I would imagine that there were a number of passengers in the back-end of some of these aircraft who were praying for a safe landing as the tail-ends were swaying back and forth! : )
Wow perfect landing
Man i love your vids :D Great work!!!
Some of those landings are really dicey, for sure. Wow!
ahhhhhhhhhhhh very heavy crosswind and pilots are able to land...thanks for the video clip
Some great crosswind action there.

I agree with you. Many Russian pilots are skilled pilots as the weather conditions are also extremely adverse there (in Russia, especially in winter).
@MD-md4th

Russian pilots are almost all military-trained. The scariest approach I ever experienced was on Aeroflot into Baku, Azerbaijan. We were going in so steep it was crazy! My colleague was joking that he recently had a root canal and so his family would have good dental records to ID his remains. Then the pilot leveled it off and set the plane down so gently you could barely feel it. It was scary but beautiful!

+Paul Sorry, this is a total new idea: Judging the skills of a pilot by nationality. Fact is that flight control often has problems with their bad english skills. The overall safety record of Russia is worse then of most western countries, mostly due to improper maintenance.
@PaulReinhard
8 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Kossatz Yes and i will explain why. Russia had it's own way of training pilots especially during communism. This difference in training, including more time spent on various skills, has an effect on the entire group as a whole. I have flown with many russian trained pilots and they rarely do hard landings compared to their american collegues who are discouraged from using too much runway length during the flare. So yes, you can group them together. In addition i very much doubt that pilots flying out of destinations not known for windy conditions are more skilled than pilots flying out of the scandinavian countries for example. It does not mean they are better pilots as a whole, just more experienced and skilled in certain situations.
Man that 787 has a beautiful wing..Boeing sure knows how to build them!
Great stuff, thanks very much for your work.
Woo buddy! Some of those were scary!
Great video's. Scary!
Yet another great video

great video and a big Thumps up to the pilots

Very nice stuff!
Awesome demonstration of great skills
Love the spot you chose for this video!
skills are everything. great job boys!

Omigosh!!! Someone is really giggling at :48???? And I'm sitting here holding onto my chair and leaning side to side trying to get the plane to straighten out and hyperventilating!!! lol This angle really shows the SCARY (awesome to some) landings. Those pilots must really struggle sometimes. Man that is incredible!! Glad you finally got some 'perfect' wind conditions cuz you got some great shots. Love your work. Hope you guys stayed warm, it looked pretty chilly out there.. Thanks for the thrills!! :) And thank goodness NOBODY GOT HURT!!!

Excellent stuff, thanks a lot. An unusual amount of inadvertent touch-and-goes, i. e. go-around with a more-or-less light touch of the main wheels. Quite interesting.
Great Pilots !! wow !!
