Terrain ! Terrain ! That warning to the pilot flying next to the side of the mountain gave me goosebumps. Simply amazing landing in such a difficult, dangerous runway

The main challenge here is that in mountainous terrain such as this, the winds can be very unpredictable. Beautiful to look at though.

Check out peru's airstrip in the canyon

like a runway perched right at the rim of the Grand Canyon!! most of Colombia is rugged like this except the Departmento Amazonas. very rugged and beautiful in blue sky weather. I would hate to be approaching this runway in foggy weather. rode a puddle jumper from medellin to Capurgana near the Panama border on the Caribbean once. just before the airport we were weaving our way between tree covered hills so close I swear you could reach out and grab a hand-full of leaves.

I love watching planes landing and taking off specially Bhutan airlines and just watched Columbia 's a really dangerous airport.I give my deepest respect to all the pilots who are flying on these difficult mountains terrain.I love you all dearly.

These professional pilots must be freaking out the challenges of suddenly appearing run way from no where ..looks like a video game landing but here it is reality ..hats off these magnificent men with flying machines ....

Fantastic airmanship. No place for error overshooting or landing too early.

That is the best bird's eye view landing I've ever seen, loved it! Even though my heart was in my mouth, descending through all that terrain and close to the runway too, excellent pilot skills!

The only scary issue is the pilot making a shallow approach, not smart when mountain flying because of possible downdrafts

Try this in bad weather in the middle of night.

I landed there once. It is Bucaramanga, if I'm not mistaken. It scared the crap out of me. From watching those beautiful deep valleys and all of a sudden the plane stood on the ground!!

Maybe because of the way KZread does suggestions - you can dismiss some from the main page, but can't hide others (maybe you've seen it, maybe you're trying to make a playlist and KZread doesn't cooperate) - I suspect some people click through and dislike because they don't have any other way to remove videos from the related section.

There is no night landing here since it is hilly terrain and i did not see any night facilities like Lights, ILS etc

The pilots have the option of turning this warning off when landing at airports like this one. It's called GPWS Override, and used to reduce distractions during certain landings. They probably left it on for effect in the video.

Hell of a place for an airport

Was surprised at how far down the runway the wheels touched down. There was obviously more runway than I thought there. Awesome scenery, beautiful country, insane place for a runway….lol 👍🏻😎

Who else is here after seeing a hard touchdown of N281AV on 27-10-2020 and on the next day damage to N284AV due to loose tarmac on take-off? Respect for the pilots flying to/from this airport! Beautiful scenery but very unforgiving it seems.

@@kkikke2003 only seasoned pilots can do that and he knew what he was doing then . Auto pilot said " Terrain, terrain will definitely shy a novatos captain to land and climb , climb risking more lives and the aircraft . For me he's one the best captain alive .

As a lifelong commercial pilot, I can assure you every runway is just as dangerous as any other if you choose not to land on it in the correct configuration and at the correct speed near to the indicated touch-down point.

The pilots are really very brave. They play with their lives and become responsible for the safe and sound arrival of the passengers in their destinations.

As far as I understand, this airport is closed at night... it is also common bad weather so it’s not surprising delays during day flights. Beautiful sightseen of the surrounding mountains and valleys!

That has to be more dangerous than Paro. A rouge up-draught or down-draught from that cliff face at final approach would be "Hello terra firma, good night sweet prince!"

This is the area where I was born, apparently. I am an adopted Colombian and live in The Netherlands. No wonder I love the German mountains so much and feel at home there. I was born in the middle of these beautiful heights.

Reminds me a lot of Catalina Island! Tremendous optical illusion! The first time I landed at Catalina I had to go around! That's when I started using my altimeter to check my altitude to the runway. Never had problems after that! At Catalina you can see several crashed airplanes below the threshold!!

Colombian pilots should have steel balls to land in such runways and steel ears to ignore all the alerts they hear. Well done :)

***** We have many airlines, the ones that I could think of are Avianca, Viva Colombia, Satena, ADA, Aero Republica (which now is part of Copa Airlines), Easyfly (if im not wrong), SAM Colombia, Aires (which is now part of LAN Colombia) And surprisingly enough in my opinion we don't have as much ATRs or Fokkers as we have a320's. The biggest airlines (Avianca, Viva Colombia, LAN, Copa) use more a320's 737's and some Embraers to travel around the country

Andres Guerrero Nice. Well there is an obvious reason for them to prefer the A320s and B737's. They are heavier and therefore more stable specially the they get into windy mountain corridors.
