SFO is world renowned for its layout that allows planes to land simultaneously right next to each other, only 750 metres apart! Featured in this video is a variety of landings, takeoffs and other cool double runway footage to the theme of parallel action!
San Francisco is the primary airport to serve the Bay Area in northern California and is the second busiest airport in the state of California and on the west coast of the country. It serves as United's hub for Asian and Oceania routes and also is served by a lot of Asia and European airlines. Featured in this video is 30 minutes of action from the famous airport from the two most popular spots to watch the action from. Sadly, the first spot used for takeoffs is now inaccessible.

I experienced a parallel landing returning to SFO in a 747. I was so lucky to be on a window on that side. I could see another 747 getting so close. The pilot obviously came on the intercom and alerted us that not only were we doing this, but he flew with the pilot of the other aircraft during military service. 2 747's. Rare and really special. Even being on a 747 now is a real treat.

That’s really cool, a lot of US pilots seem to be well trained
So lucky I live in the Bay Area! Lucky to have experienced a parallel landing while inside the plane! It’s spectacular! You can literally wave at the other passengers sometimes and they can wave back!
This is truly an INTERNATIONAL airport with planes ✈️ coming and going to and from all over the world. I live in the Bay Area and come to this airport quite often...it is hard to explain how exciting it is to watch planes coming in and taking off on parallel runways. Slowest bag retrieval ive ever experienced tho due to its size
I got to be in a parallel take off from there once. It was so cool, it felt like we were racing.
I love the San Francisco Airport and luckily live in the Bay Area...especially love to be there on those clear days with the sky so blue and one plane after the other coming in and leaving. And the best moment I when they either come in parallel or take off parallel...that’s a sight to be seen. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video!
I have never seen a whole plane spotting video on just parallel arrivals and departures before. That's very creative keep up the great work.

Loved seeing the Air France A380 in the video! Helped service and board/deboard passengers from that plane in SFO years ago!

Phenomenal! I don’t recall ever seeing seeing parallel takeoffs/landings at JFK 4/22 or EWE 4/22, or maybe I just didn’t notice.

They don’t do it in EWR. JFK sometimes depending on runway configuration.
It's so different to watch 2 planes land and takeoff at the same time. Pretty cool tho.

Awesome footage. I really like the ones at dusk. I’ve seen my fair share of parallel landings and takeoffs in flight. Somehow the plane I’m on always lands on 28R instead of 28L. Go figure.

The planned 3 rd runway has not been built because the airport won't pay for it. If they did build it, then we would have parallel runways.

From what I have heard, pilots have to have some sort of special certification to be able to perform a parallel landing.

@@brianmcdonald6519 For certain types of parallel instrument approaches, yes... but not for landings and takeoffs in visual conditions.

@@johnfowler1627 True. Most if not all of these are visual approaches that require no special certainty for pilots. They also don’t use SOIA anymore at SFO so even in socked in IFR weather, they’re just using the ILSs.

Between the 4:27 mark and the 4:47 mark, the CA B748i and the LH A388 were taxiing parallel (to each) to what I am assuming were 28L and 28R. Does the airport allow such huge aircraft take off simultaneously like they would an E175 and a B737? Or would they start their take off rolls in a staggered manner? I am just curious. This is a very nice video, I bet it is lovely to flying into and out of SFO.
