Squeeze your legs and make sure you’re turned out (it might not get to a full split because of you being turned out) I don’t know a lot because I’m kind of a beginner but my dance coach tell me that so

Is your split completely with toes pointing up or turning in to the floor? Splits are harder when your hips are turned out and toes pointing up if the foot is flexed or or pointing out with the inside of your arch facing out(and up) if the foot is pointed. Remember ability means nothing without proper technique just because you can do the splits doesn’t mean that it looks pretty or that you can use that ability for another move. However it does mean your on the right track and now your able to move forward. What will also help is laying on your stomach and stretching your hips and inner thigh muscles by bending your knees to look like a frog. Keep your hips and feet on the floor as you bend your knees. Don’t allow anyone to help you because forcing this is not ok but it’s a great stretch and the more you do it you will see progress over time and it will help with your turnout and middle splits.

I'm no expert by any means, but it sounds like you have flexibility without the strength to get it there without pushing up against something, like doing a split on the floor. My best tip would be to find a doorway in your house and do a vertical split in the doorway. Push yourself into a split so that one leg is on the ground and the other is in the air. Once you have that down, try to lean your top leg away from the door frame. Your goal is to be fully in the split without touching the frame with either leg, but you can start by just holding one leg away from it. This should build strength along with your flexibility if you do it often. I hope this helps

i got my leaps to look like full splits in the air by REALLY stretching my over split and then working out my legs to get the power to propel me into the air. it made my splits even more natural to go into and the extra power really propelled them to be much straighter, easier!!

I know this is real late, but it could be because of your oversplits. Oversplits can really hurt you; they weaken your ligaments so that your knees get weaker and it's harder to do things like land jumps.
