How To Do A Calypso I Easy Tutorial With @MissAuti

Ойын-сауық

I am hosting a live dance WERKshop on April 11!! Buy your tickets here and use code MissAuti20..
organizer.runtheworld.today/i...
We are learning how to do a calypso leap!! This jump is v popular in the dance world and can be used in lots of different styles, especially jazz and lyrical. Calypso jumps have a bent back leg (attitude) and a straight front leg. I am showing you how to do the leap prep as well, the lovely high chaîné, low chaîné moment. I am so excited to show you another dance trick that you can work at home during the 'tine. This dance jump tutorial is quick and easy, so you can go watch even more dance videos when you're done with this one.. hehe. Make sure to do a good dance warmup before you try this dance class out. xo.

I’ve been a dance teacher for many years. Flexibility is important but what is the top priority should be strengthening of the legs. Your legs and core are not strong enough to pull up.

Try ankle weights/tie something heavy around your ankles (a purse filled with heavy coins or something may work!) and sit on a chair. Put your hands under your butt for balance, and lift your leg as high as you can, trying to get your hamstrings off the seat. Do around 30 reps on each leg, 2x daily. You should develop serious strength in your quads! Leg raises can serve as a simplified version of this, but being seated vertically means you get a higher "kick". I hope this helps!
