okay as a male dancer I understand I do not have a build of a female dancer but I really want to get my calypso. I’m tired of being told I can’t do it because I’m a male. Plus starting up in August when school starts again I’m trying out for my school’s dance company. Update: auditions are next Tuesday I’m so nervous Update: I auditioned today results are on Friday I’m so nervous. Final update: I made the team ! 🥳

Yes! A good tip is to not let your hips push forward after your plie. Make sure you keep them under you and that will help a whole bunch. :)

Elite DanceWerks LLC. Yes! I think it’s call a “barreled calypso” I’m not a dancer, but I did musical theater and show choir but I wanna I guess learn the mechanics and work for it!

@@madisongracemusic at :45 I briefly explain how to safely get to the floor and roll out of the calypso. You can slow down the video to get more detail by changing the playback speed. That will help you to see the mechanics a little slower. Click the settings icon on the video, then playback speed and adjust to your desired speed. I listed some additional tips below: - Point your left foot when going down to the floor to protect your knee - Use your plie on the the right side to lower down to the floor - Catch yourself with your left hand - Sit on your left hip and turn over your right shoulder - Roll on your sitz bones (bottom)
