Damen Rice - Cold Water live on Jonathan Ross
Музыка
This is a beutiful live performance of Cold Water by Damien Rice on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross from 2004.
Lisa Hannigan has such an amazing, haunting voice. I could just listen to her all day.

Yes, it is awful that Lisa is never introduced on any of these performances, nor does Damien correct any host who ignores her...

Absolutely 💯
I fell in love with Lisa Hannigan after this performance. It's not just her voice (which is stunning in itself) but the way she seems to feel the music as she sings. I suppose the best word for it might be "angelic"?

Lisa is an artist that is very similar to Damien. They both put their souls into their craft. That's why they appeal to us. When Lisa sings, the audience is totally mesmerized
In another life time Damien and Lisa stayed together, grew old together, made many beautiful babies not to mention songs.................

Perhaps if he wasn't an asshole to her.
Lisa not introduced, none of my close circle of friends are awake of her existence. She is without doubt a one off a dream maker.
After all these years...this track is still on my playlist and never been skipped upon even once ... .... lisa still gives me chills !!!!!
This song brings tears to my eyes. THIS performance makes me weep openly... As long as there's such beauty as this in the world, I will never close my heart by refusing to forgive or giving in to the temptation of "having serious trust issues". PTSD is a bitch. People are cruel and callous and horrible, unspeakable shit happens. But when I hear this, I feel alive, I remember loving, I remember leaving without considering how devastated the other person was, I remember my father playing his guitar and teaching me to sing as a child and I remember him standing me up three times for the dinner I'd wanted so badly to take him out to for his 63rd birthday. I remember my brother making me annotated mix CDs when I was in rehab and I remember him stealing $500 from me later as he struggled with the same demons. Even if they won't ever sing together again, this performance exists. Life is so short. Shut yourself off from other people, and 9 times out of 10 you've saved yourself from betrayal, heartbreak, violation, abuse, devastation. But that 10th time? You may well have shut out the person who sees how magnificent and precious you are. Everyone's been a really big asshole at some point in their lives to another person - Seriously, can you say for sure that you've NEVER left someone feeling so empty, lost, rejected, ashamed or feeling so terminally alone that they couldn't even find the tears to cry or the voice to tell you? Pain is subjective, you may not see it, but I promise you have devastated someone. As someone has devastated you. Don't shut everyone out. Every time your heart breaks, it's just another wall coming down, another chamber opening in an infinite and exquisite essential facet of your humanity. And your capacity to love is as boundless as your capacity to forgive. It matters not whether the person you love loves you back, just as your genuine forgiveness of the person who did a Mexican Hat Dance on the very core of your heart has absolutely fucking nothing to do with them. You can love and forgive whomever you want. You don't need permission. Or approval. Recognition... If you think you do, then look inside your heart and open it wider. Love is the ultimate selfishness and forgiveness the ultimate indulgence. Opportunity is everywhere.

M there must always be hope. I just feel like a ghost now of what my life was like when I gave all my love to someone, they left, but I refuse to let it beat me. Just keep going & be the best person that you can be.

That closing shot on Lisa, she looks like an angel and sounds as one as well...
Them splitting up was like reliving Simon and Garfunkel's split. God, I'm old. Both duos created perfect timeless harmony.
this crowd was soooooooo lucky!
I can't help to be sad they don't work together anymore😞. Two angels of music.
oh my word. Lisa Hannigan :-)
The perfect song, period, and extra perfect for Lost.

Lisa Hannigan...wow! I mean wow!
From 2020 Still Love this song! 🧡
Still my favourite performance on Jonathan Ross of all time.... so many years later I still go back to this track on this talk show. Amazing vocals
Lisa Hannigan. Just that Lisa Hannigan.
Beautiful - Ah yes this is where I first heard Lisa Hannigan, have only recently rediscovered her angelic voice ❤️
Why this man and Ben howard haven't made a masterpiece yet is a real shame
Two Irish Geniuses.
Just heard this song at the end of a movie called I Am David. Great movie and listening to this song brought me to tears at the end of this wonderful and sad movie that shows how there truly are evil people in this world but then good can triumph because there’s still a Light that shines in our darkness.

Hope you are still enjoying damiens beautiful work 15 years on ❤
The first time I saw her she was wearing teal tights and doc Martians and playing an Indian organ and then the voice came, I still didn't know her name but her vision stuck with me and still does when I recognized the voice I new it was that woman from back then, I finally had her name.., and love her work
Shows, all you need is a guitar and a Lisa
Lisa is just unbelievable. It's such a shame they split up. Lisa's solo-stuff is not bad at all, but THIS... Cold Water is probably Damien's masterpiece.

That Should've Been Introduced As.. Mr Damien Rice & Lisa Hannigan
Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan make history some kinda love story what do you reckon?
Lisa habille d'or toutes les chansons qu'elle reprend!
absorb my soul
Pqp que lindo..
Simple amazing music
This was the closing song (sung by them) in the incredible movie “I Am David”.
Fit the end credits of "Stay" so well
Cold ,cold water ,surrounds me now
Wow
Esta cancion es bonita la conoci viendo la pelicula I am david y ahora que la escucho me hace querer llorar y querer ver de nuevo esta pelicula.
Lisa Hannigan barely or never got acknowledged when she was with Damien Rice's band although she practically sang co-lead vocals. Being let go from that band was probably the best thing that happened to her.

This song for me is all about Hospice
Cannot understand why Mr Ross made no mention of Lisa - this is the earliest recording I've seen of her and what she gives to the performance may be brief but its effect is out of all proportion to the duration of the song; for me it was the feminine soul of the song, gentle though ultimately more penetrating than the masculine power of Damien.

Scott D You seem to have ignored the point of my comment. If art is not for attention why does it present itself on a stage - to be ignored? I know Lisa is a singer who loves to sing above all - and she'd do it for nothing if necessary, but that doesn't excuse Ross's ignorant omission of her name in this performance, which implies she is not significant enough to include.
@nachoamaral

Mike Keyes I think he didn't mention her because she was part of Damien's proyect at this point. She sang many songs on O and 9 but she was, at those years, part of Damien's band. O and 9 are Damien Rice's albums. It was not like a Damien feat. Lisa Hannigan. She started her solo career after they split, in 2007, or so.

+nachoamaral Exactly, plus if he mentioned Lisa he'd have to mention the whole band. As you say, it was Damien's project - he wrote all the lyrics and composed all the music off the album.
i searched cold water live ( the justin bieber one) and came here
I am David
We all have our insecurities Damien, don't worry about it.
they will never sing together again. why?
Pity they never reconciled. He from Celbridge and she from Kilcloon.
Con ese corte se parece a Jesse pikman v:
THE GIRL IN THE CAFE...ONE OF THE MOST POIGNANT MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!
Strange paradox, Damien needs negative states to write his songs and Lisa leaving him has devastated him and made him a greater song writer and an unhappier person, and a better songster and a lonely soul and.......
The fact that Damien ignored her talents by not mentioning her name as part of the band was absurd.
Damien is a messer and a gowler. Lisa took all the nonsense to serious and jumped ship..
Shame on Damien for firing Lisa and his band. I get it.. you're sick of your music, but you haven't been the same since.
