Lews and abus are the same korean manufacturer reel brand called doyo.

Both are great reels. Two best in the industry.

The only gripe I have with Shimano is their MicroModule gears. They traded the strenght of their gears for percieved smoothness. Is a proven fact that smaller gear theeth are weeker than bigger gears. If you dont believe me, ask all this Metanium DC owners with worn aluminum main gears after big catches. Tackle Advisor on youtube has great videos on this matter. Specially on the zillion video.

​@locoshaggy not really. Daiwa makes very durable and long lasting aluminum alloy main gears like in most of their Steez and their JDM Zillion reels. The problem is the small teeth Shimano goes with, not the alloy

High end wise I think the Steez is much better than the high end Shimano reels. But lower to mid end I like the DC’s better than the Tatulas.

Daiwa Tatula TW 100 2024 vs Shimano Slx DC XT 71. Which is better??

I like Shimano for sure but for 129 the Daiwa Tatula CT is a great reel. I had 2 Shimano SLX DC's and sold them for the Tatula CT's (2020). The sound and brake system is a nice addition for sure but for me its kinda like driving an automatic over a manual. I want the experience of driving a manual. (I know there are non DC Shimano's that are great but using the $129 price point for a reason. SLX XT is good too but I would take the Daiwa over the XT)

I like Shimano dc reels, but o think diawa is just as good as non dc shimanos

Shimano stuff was a nightmare to own. So glad I’m using a company that only focuses on fishing products and not a million other things.

I use all reel brands right now I'm using a presidential pflueger 35 A daiwa 2500 hd Shimano Sahara 4000. All of them grind after enough fish

Have Shimanos and Daiwa i believe they same to me don't see advantage from one to another sometimes some brand like PISCFUN or KastKing can surprise u for price i love my AG Rocket

I don't have a Shimano and wouldn't want one over my Diawa Tatula's unless it was a DC Shimano....oh I also went with the Gomexus Green handles thanks to you Westin.... lol this is super funny though....

@dbjones254 You also don't need a nice $80,000 4x4 truck to get from point A to B, but for some people that can afford to do so, it's worth it and nice to have one. If you're happy with a 1999 toyota Corolla, more power to you.

Not even close lol i've owned a few abu's. I used to be strict abu but i've torn up every abu i've ever owned after about a year and tons of fish later so i switched to lews, never torn up a lews reel and then went to shimano and after a couole months she started grinding lol but i will give it to abu i loved my revo. One of the smoothest reels i ever owned.
