    I have the tatula ct 100 xs 8.1 and I use it for flipping into Lily pads that are insanely thick at my favorite lake. I've used other reels that has a slower speed with less drag and I've lost fish in the Lily's. The daiwa pins them an rips them out of the thickest of thick!!!! Plus it's straight solid and holds up!

    Hey OWA, Is the mag brake dial more recessed on the newer model? I have an older Tatula, and a huge problem I have with Daiwa reels is that I inadvertently (and constantly) change the mag dial settings while I'm fighting fish and working lures. And it's entirely because I really choke up on my reels and palm them deep into my hand. I switched to Shimano because of that issue, but I've been really curious about these SV reels as I am a huge fan of finesse baitcasters.

    The sv tw is so overbreaked, I don't even use the zero adjuster setting. I open up that tension and still don't have to go above 5 or 6 on the breaks unless I'm skipping. • @SimonC82686

    @SimonC82686

    5 ай бұрын

    @olivier7990 If you are just now learning how to skip I would suggest starting with a side arm roll cast and you want to work on your release to get your bait parallel to the surface( you might want to spool up some cheap line to learn with because you might send that bait straight down sometimes and backlash it). Roll cast> release low> gradually raise your rod tip and thumb the spool. I don't know what equipment you're using but you want a rod with a tip that loads easily and it'll help a little. On whatever reel you're using start off maybe tighten that tension just a tab bit more and bump up the brakes. You could also learn the cast on a spinning setup to avoid backlashing, and once you're more familiar with the motion it'll be easier to do with a baitcaster. There should be plenty videos on YT that'll teach you the basics.

    8.1 is a good overall reel. You can always reel a bit slower. I find the 7.1 pretty good too if you don't want to have to slow down your reeling too much. I find the 6.3 to be too slow for many presentations. I feel I have to crank it super fast just to get some baits to work correctly, like spinner baits and some chatter baits. The 6.3 might be ok for deep diving cranks where you don't it to be so hard to turn.

    I put my 8 spd SV103 on a Dobyns cranking rod. I fish mostly shallow ponds from the bank. It does pretty well keeping the bait shallow without planing. I've caught a couple of fish on lipless crankbaits. So far, I'm happy with the combo.

    @@OklahomasWorstAngler aww man that sucks. Im a shimano guy and new to diawa so I did some research on this reel and the tatula elite, both of which I just purchased. Just like yours, mine had a surprising amount of play in it. But while researching it I came across this guy on KZread called The reel test channel. He explained that the zero adjuster means just that, dont adjust it. Diawa actually went as far as to make the adjuster very stiff to turn and designed the drag star in a way that makes it difficult to adjust so to deter the end user. After watching his review I researched it more and he was correct. Diawa says that they set it at the factory for its optimum performance, and though they leave it where you can still adjust it, they flat out say not to. My reel had alot of slop in the spool so it threw me back when I heard this.

    This video is a great example that you should always double check the info you're getting. This guy thinks a reels handle size will affect the retrieve IPT 🤦‍♂️. Doesn't matter if we're talking 80mm handle or 120mm handle. A full turn is still just a full turn. The spool size and gear ratio is what matters.
