@@ericbutler739 One of the biggest reasons that they won't is because of general statistics. There's a reason that surgical de-transition is so low or medical de-transition is so low according to statistics or hospitals. Because when those people go to hospitals to reverse everything they get told no. So technically if they are told no and nothing happens they're not considered a de-transitioner

I'm not sure about the truth of it but I recently heard that the Lobotomy was a legit surgical procedure. The problem was that some guy came along and developed the spike method which was meant to make it such that even someone that isn't medically trained could carry it out. I want to look into it but reading your comment kind of reminded me.

Do you mean Jessica Daria Lowkey? On a more serious note, Mary (the guest) strikes me as an activist for her cause. Fair enough, but her "confidence" or "assertiveness" (for lack of a better word) makes me instinctively want to fact-check her. A personal reaction, to be sure, but she has the same delivery and effect as a dedicated advocate for any particular issue. For contrast, I ask people to consider Michael Shellenberger's appearances and how he presents his views (about offshore wind turbines killing whales, free speech and censorship, etc.) and how much more credible he sounds.

According to my young niece, the worst part of de-transitioning is the absolute vitriol you receive from the community that claimed they cared about you and just wanted you to be happy. They only care about you if you're doing what they want. My niece was harassed straight off of social media by her Snapchat group who hunted down her Instagram and tiktok and just spammed hate at her every single day until she deleted it all. They kept telling her to "delete" herself. She's 16, just fyi, and decided she wasn't sure about transitioning when she was being pressured to get surgery. This community is grotesque and we need to protect our kids, starting with our own family members.

Trying to pin decisions on doctors is honestly unjustified. If anything, this conversation points to the need for mental health evaluation before continuing with any kind of gender affirming care. I think it's important to distinguish between a doctor and a psychologist, which is what they should refer to first before starting in a kind of gender transition. If anything, it should be standard for a doctor to defer to a psychologist first.
