The unalloyed joy you take in even small things -- chirping tires -- is very entertaining. Thanks for posting.

I find you have more grip in the rain under standard circumstances with a locker. I also laugh at everyone who goes on about how hard the car will be to drive. My ex (not a car girl at all ) thought it was hillarious when her Ute was broken so I lent her the missile to go to an agricultural show. She said she's never stopped twenty people by trying to reverse a trailer before. Had no idea what everyone was looking at as she can reverse a trailer. She realised everyone was listening to the locker. Half were like what's wrong with that car other half were like fuck yeah. A 4 foot 11, 50 something kilo bird in a vs with 4.11's , t5, a cam and trailer full of goats chirping around 😂 She was worried about borrowing came back and was like. " I dno what everyone complains about. It absolutely pissed down and proper utes were getting stuck. It covered the trailer in mud but I just put it in second and crawled out of there at about 1500 rpm after everyone told me I couldn't. "

i have one on my skyline, and the attention that it gets man its alot, when you are certain that you arnt going to skid the car for an amount of time, you can run radials, the cherping is not as bad if you want to keep a lower profile (kinda hard with a straight piped car), but it will stress the components and understeer is increased more than if you had stockies on.

Also it’s hard to find a good working lsd for an old falcon these days it’s much better to lock the diff as it guarantees both wheels to spin 100% of the time and will never single out

The bad - tire wear, axle twist, "interesting" on slippery surfaces, harder on drive line parts, once welded you diff is not serviceable.. you can't unweld it. The good? Got a door slammer with a hot engine? Do it! Great off the line traction and like dude said, easy drifting fun. My experience - My 84' Cutless got about 3500 miles before my axles started looking like twizzlers.

If you want more stability you need to weld the suspension too, get rid of that useless bouncing of the springs. And if you're tired of using up tires, just use wooden wheels, the good old fashioned way.

I watched a video of another bloke with an AU ute (Howlers Garage) and he spent a lot of time installing a mini spool. It just seems like spools aren’t worth it. They are “reversible”, but take a lot of effort to install + uninstall compared to just welding it. The diffs are easy to find as they are in AU’s and BA’s also. I reckon weld the diff and if you get sick of it just get a cheap diff centre from the wreckers/fb marketplace that isn’t welded and put that in the car.

The right mount to the gearbox on the block is broken. because of that the transmission has problems too and then there's the diff. I'm already $4000 into the engine so life's painful.
