    Dont ask me why they're called that. Dado is a nonsense word. What makes the rail so 'dado'?!?! 🤔

    I have to remove a 6ft clued length in the kitchen to make room for a breakfast bar but need to make a cut 6ft in and remove it a bit more carefully as to not damage the decor. I'll be putting a baton on the wall where the old dado rail was for the breakfast bar. Any top tips?

  • @MrGeoffreySmith

    Sounds like fun! As its glued it's hard to predict the outcome. Don't attack it. Tease it off the wall to prevent damage. The batten you're putting up afterwards should cover any damage if any. Good luck! 😃

    It looks like our dado rails have been glued to the wall as.well as nailed. I assume your technic would crack the plaster in this case, what could you recommend instead or in addition?

    I want to do this but the wall has been skimmed again since the dado rail was put on, so it's a but buried. I started to chisel but got a crack in the plaster so stopped. Guessing I need to go along the top and bottom and just chisel away the skim coat.

  • @MrGeoffreySmith

    @MrGeoffreySmith

    2 жыл бұрын

    Or chisel into the dado and split it. Get a piece out and chisel along, following the direction of the dado. Once it's out you can fill the gap left in the skim.
