Even 4x4 duster isn't meant for heavy offroading. It is supposed to be a family car with ground clearance which can take some light offroading. Bottom line, either go for the best or go for what certain amount of money can buy the best. Duster is budget friendly, that is the whole point but if you want to do serious offroading, you use nothing less than a Jeep with 35inch tyres.

Hi man, great video..I have some questions...I consider Duster as a family car for us(me+ wife+ one child) I would probably take the 2wd version (mainly because its a lot cheaper) and i would like to know if its capable of some light offroading, like going to a vacation to cottage on some non asphalt road. But it would be mainly used on asphalt roads and in city. Is it a good car for this kind of driving? Also I'm considering the 1.33tce 130 engine. Thanks

It depends on the condition of the trail you go on. I f the trail has sections where you can't use the speed to get by and you have to go slow, there are chances you'll have to force the car a lil bit. but if the trail is ok, even with 2wd you can pass it. high ground clearance and good angle of attack are helping alot.

Do you know how the duster (and actually most) 4x4 lock work? If you go under a certain speed (usually it's in the range of 20-40 km/h) it will stay locked, if you go above it will unlock. So in conclusion, the tests you did with 4x4 lock on was on for the first 2 seconds, as soon as the wheels start to spin at that speed it will disengage it, even though the car wasn't moving fast. So those tests were useless but it did tell something valuable, and that is that the tests were bad and what counted more was the car's momentum than the 4x4 system.

    Жыл бұрын

@@jec_ecart Ok let me inform how the slippage works: 2 wheel drive, the 2 wheels slip > 4wd coupling engaged and it should direct power to all 4 but there is a catch. All these cars with these kind of coupling are designed to work when slipping on low speed and it doesn't work under heavy load of higher speeds so after a wheel(very important wheel speed) of 25-30-35 (depending on the manufacturer) the coupling disengages and becomes 2wd because it cannot handle the stress.

Not too much. Especially if the terrain is muddy. No matter how good are the tires, if the back wheels are not helping, you will fail very easy and get stuck.

Proper off road tyres to suit the conditions you were testing in would have made a huge difference..I have all season Mitchellin cross latitude tyre's and their crap in this, when I switch to at3's the difference is night and day..

  • 2 жыл бұрын

This Duster isn't 4WD, it is AWD which is different. If you have 4WD you can nearly get 50% of your power to the rear and 50% to the front. Plus you can mechanically lock the differentials. The AWD system isn't developed for off roading, that's why the front and rear tyres spinning with different speed at 4:13 for example. The two front tyres also spins at different speed. If you have 4WD you can have all your tyres will spin nearly at the same speed. So it's just addittional information for it, as far as i know this is the main differencies. Otherwise, the namings are very confusing and it is not at all clear that there is any difference between AWD and 4WD at all.

При такой покрытии не следует так сильно газовать, тем более если это дизель. Воткнул 1 передачу, чуть разогнался, переключил на вторую и держишь обороты не ниже 2000 об/мин, но не надо раскручивать выше 3000 об/мин.

the truth is : 4WD (4 wheel drive ) lets you to drive better in off-road. it can also help in stabliyzing the car in road. 2WD (2 wheel drive) only uses front two wheels -which is faster- costs more fuel oil or smth. 4WD better in off-road...ESC (electronic stabily control) improves the car sharp returns
