I have been watching your videos for a long time and I absolutely enjoy them. I am originally from a farm in Japan, but currently, I live in a bustling metropolis on the west coast of California. My family worked as rice farmers on a small farm, and tirelessly plowed the fields with cows. I deeply yearn for the farm and the cherished moments I had with my family. Unfortunately, they are no longer with us. However, the farm will always be a part of who I am. Jim, you remind me of my father. Thank you.

You could put a dozen horsemen in a room and they'll all give a different opinion on harnesses and what is the best draft horse breed . If you think about it , it's all what breed you've been trained or brought up around . Jim Gordon's opinion is correct that a good working draft horse is a good horse no matter what the breed . Jim has owned and trained Percheron , Belgian and Suffolk Punch Horses and also has cross bred some great younger horses in the last couple of years.

That was a great discussion, now I truly understand the difference and why Jim prefers this style of harness. While the pair owned by the young guy fidgeted and needed someone near their heads, the old guy's big horse settled right down, waited by his boss while the talking went on. I guess being at a big event like this can make them fidget, but with time and life's experience a horse learns to trust his boss, listen in, and wait patiently, reins loose, relaxing while he can. Was that the horse Jim used to haul those big logs? He was nicely worked down. Jim's channel seems to have earned him quite a reputation, and a lot of respect, and he seems to be well able to address a crowd. Great video thanks Brenda.

Very good to watch this video..good to hear 3 n 4 different views from different horseman... a saying here in Australia is " many men many methods"... no one way is right..what works for you is good.. another is a "good horse is a good colour"... same as breed...

What a great chat about D ring harness, I loved the fact that the guys disagreed on some things and that was fine, no arguments (what works for me might not work for you) I have said Jims comment myself, A horse is a horse is a horse. Makes sense to me. If that's the quality of the presentations, what a great couple of days you had.

Jim and Brenda, i love the way you care for your horses, how you treat them with kindness and care and value them. I would love to hear a talk on care of your horse and the big no no's so that people are educated on honouring the horse for the sevice they offer you, for example allowing an older horse to live and die on the land he/she worked on in retirement, showing respect and care and love for the horse, or teaching that sores are a definite big no no, and unacceptable to allow it etc so that people dont throw the horse away to kill pens, discarded and not valued once they stop earning money etc i think this message needs to be out there.

Jie m and Brenda, I really enjoyed Jim's tutorial on the D Ring Harness , he did an excellent Q and A session. I go along with Jim's opinion on his harness set up. Also the proof is in the pudding in the timber loads that Jim skids and hauls on his wagon out off woods in Northern New York

Learning more about the Suffolks in the USA, and the club's incentives to report deaths and gelding to get the ten dollar discount on membership was a good way to keep count. I am sure there isn't a whole lot of Suffolks having semen and egg frozen for future use, probably under 20 if that. This video had a lot of good opinions and each driver/owner have their own experiences and shared them with us. Thank you Brenda and Jim!
