I grew up going to horse pulls at the Erie Co fair. Love when you have them on. I’m sorry you have issues with folks having a problem with them. I don’t think they realize the discipline involved and how well you know your animals and when or if you need to call it enough. It’s a dying sport. When I was young there were many teams competing 20+ now, if they’re even having them there are few participants. I would have loved to have seen them back at the turn of the century or 1800’s. I can picture the old farm days and the county competitions with all the farm related events whether it was domestic or farm related.

Maybe those people who don't appreciate horse pulls should watch the team (Jim included!) pull logs, or hay, or plow a field, break a snow path....They do similar actions and build muscles year round! Much better than standing around being a pasture pony in a lot with no grass. These are working horses!!!

Ken & Bill are a great team working together, and all Jim & Brenda’s horses are loved and looked after so well. Jim is an excellent horseman, I’ve been watching every video for approx 3 years and I’m so impressed with his knowledge, a lifetime of experience, training, working logging and all their farm work. At this pull event, unfortunately some tackle/equipment failed but Jim was in total control of his horses handled them well. I see Brenda & Jim as good hard working humble people. And I say this in support of them because of some peoples opinions of pull events. I so much enjoy your sharing your farm work, a traditional way of life.

Draft horses by definition are bred to do heavy hauling, farm work, logging. You can tell by Jim and Brenda’s interaction , care and attention to their stock that the health and safety of every one of their horses is their primary concern. Horse pulls can be part of their working regimen to keep them in shape.

Abuse to a draft horse would be not allowing them to do what they were created to do which is to pull and work. I haven’t seen a horse pull since I was a kid. I’m 70 now. This just made me smile so broad I can’t describe it. I use to tractor pulls, but my dad was raised Apostolic & grew up with nothing but work horses. His father came from Germany when he was a little boy. Just like the Amish, they grew up in little colonies(groups). They all pitched in to help each other. That was fantastic to watch!!! 😊❤

What a magnificent animal. They are so beautiful and they try their hardest. I used to live near an amish community in Iowa and would attend their horse pulls. I so enjoy seeing the power in these animals. Thank you for taking us along. Loved seeing the boys enjoying the pasture.

Wow, you never fail to grab at all my emotions Brenda and Jim. I've been to horse pulls my whole life and seen the good, the bad and the ugly. With you it's always the GOOD 👍... first the excitement HOOT, HOOT, HOOT during each pull 😄, then it's the knowledge, the comradery, the respect. Truly felt like I was sitting there, thank you for bringing us along 🤗 Love your channel and the variety of day to day life on and off the farm, much gratitude and appreciation, much love from my farm (Rising Sun Stables/Maine) to yours 💞

I ramember back in the 50s when the driver would lay the whip right on them thank goodness that does not happen any more, when we lived in Vermont my wife would let me go to the horse pulls on fathers day I believe it was North Haverhill, N H we are now living in Florida on the South West coast love you both and be careful I can say that as I am 85 years young.

I so enjoyed watching the video of your horse pulls!!! Rules here in Canada are quite different. Here a pull is 14 ft, you get 2 chances per hook but it’s a continuous pull. (They don’t pull the load back and start over) Also no jerking allowed. Great to see your horses working so well together!!! I just posted a recent pull here on my page today. Wishing you continued success Jim!!!

I don't understand why people can be against this, these horses are so well looked after! And following Jim and his horses, there's nothing mean or bad, this is what these breeds do, you look at the condition of these horses and its amazing, its a testament to Jim and how much he cares for his horses, they are his family, and the simple fact that Jim usually pulls out that he only thinks about his horses. And all these reasons are why I started following, I'm in the riding area of horses and just love watching Jim and his wife and family and how much love they have for these beautiful horses. Thank you Jim and Brenda for making it possible for me to watch from New Zealand 😊 xx and congratulations on coming 2nd woop woop 🎉🎉🎉🎉
