D-loop DO’s and DONT! Your D-loop could be destroying accuracy
Спорт
There’s a lot of ways to tie a D-loop on a bowstring. BUT there are certainly ways that will kill your accuracy. In this video I explain what the big differences are!

The attention to detail is precise like only a bowhunter can give. Thanks JD. :)
Dudley you're a champ. I appreciate how you are not cheap with your knowledge.
I’ve had my Unite for a month now and it’s my first compound bow ever. I’m already shooting wayyyyy better than I thought I would years from now. Thanks so much for all the details on your KZread I definitely started my journey on the right foot. Nock On!

That’s awesome! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I got serving separation because I messed it up. Thank you for the tip!! 🙌🤘
That makes so much more sense to do it that way! Thank you for another great tutorial!
I've tried this method and so far it's the best way I've found to tie a D loop. Thanks very clear and straightforward
Thanks for this video! I'm new to the bow mechanics and I have been doing the precut d loops. I have been doing this exact thing to my center serving and was puzzled to if it was me doing it. Well I just ordered everything of your site to reserve my center and I will be tying all my d loops like this now! Thanks again man!
Thank You for the tutorial, my Friend. Clear and precise.
Another great reminder!! I have new a string set being delivered this week. I also have a 100ft roll of bcy #24 d loop string on order. The d loop placed by the local shop last year has never been tight. Lots of frustration. I should have thrown it on my press and replaced the d loop long ago.
John, thanks for sharing Your knowledge!
Best how-to out there! Thanks!
This is by far the best d-loop video tutorial on KZread 😉 ... it has made all the difference for me to get it tied in perfectly. Thanks again for sharing your experience, Brother 👍👊🇺🇸
Great info! Makes so much sense!
Thank you that's years of experience, trials and errors.Very helpful video.TY.
Excellent! This method makes perfect sense. It would be hard to argue that there is a better way. The demonstration of all the slack that was pulled from the bottom tag end is the evidence. However, I would love to see the same demonstration showing cinching down from the center only, then seeing how much slack is still in the outside loops. Maybe a video idea?
Love these golden nugets of bow wisdow. Thank you.
I'm guilty of doing iit the from the center. Thanks for the tip and great presentation.
Watch this video and did almost exactly what you were talking about an it came out great .Shot the bow later an arrow flight was better than before. Had never even thought of doing this until saw this video and it is definitely intimidating but after an hour of working on the bow is shooting much better
Best way to tie a d loop so far. thank you sir
Thank you 🙏
Good job
Great video as usual John,,, question...in regards to a portable bow press...what portable bow press option would you take to work on the now beyond parallel limb bows and others...my current portable press wont work on them safely so i need to get something different to take and use in the woods at hunting camp and other places when not at home near my bench press?... thank you, Don
That's a great tip. I want to learn how to do my oww d loops and peep tie in. I have a suggestion for a video. How remove a peep without cutting your bow string. There's plenty of videos of how to tie them, but not to remove the old serving without cutting the bow string. That part makes me nervous. Thanks for the great videos, I've learned a lot from them !!

I believe his video where talks about peeps and replacing them, he cuts it out and gives a suggestion how to do it without cutting your actually string. If I find it I will post you the video name.

@Jamie Partington hey man I just watched a guy with a mathew reinstall a peep and he dose what I do and runs a razor blade above the string across serving until one or two strans brake then you just untie the knot and also you cut peep on the peep with razor blade just gotta be careful and aim away from the string.
I completely agree your way is superior
I just tie them in a way were they are upside down, both knots. If its tied with the d loop on the outside. Everything tightens on its owe. And eventually
Thanks for the advice. I had a problem with the loop sliding, I think your method of tying will help. Greetings from Poland. Sorry for the spelling, I use a translator.

I pre-cut and burn the ends of my loops to avoid having to burn the ends close to the string itself. Different strokes, etc.
If you are good at something, you make it look easy. Well.... you are certainly good at this. Great video and thanks for sharing. I do have a question, I have spoken to a few folks that say to only put one knock stop on (bottom of nock I believe), but you always put two. Is there is a reason why, do you feel like this is just another measure to help secure your arrow, like the way it fits/shoots, etc.? Thanks

I have the same question. I've always used only a bottom knocking point. Seems like there's more than one acceptable way, but I'd like to know Dud's reasoning for why he uses two points.
Exactly how it's done, top away from you and bottom towards you. Squeeze ends together and snug then let the bow determine tightness.
Good instruction, but no mention of how not doing it that way could be destroying accuracy, as the video title says 🤔

great catch. It's a clickbait title.

Damn. The archery shop I went to buy my first bow, they didn’t even use the serving string, just a Dloop. the feeling I got from the shop was “hers your bow, let’s see how long you stick with archery”. Like they didn’t want to help me. Not a good experience

you don't need that serving.m inside the loop... it's just his personal preference. Lots of professionals only use a D-loop. Don't be so quick to judge your local shop because they don't setup a bow the same way a popular media personality does... I bet they set theirs up the same way and shoot better than you. Just saying.
Do you think most pro shops know this or do think its something i need to mention myself?
I’m right handed and left eye dominant with 3-4” groups at 50. Obviously my technique and form from the shoulders up is wrong using my left eye. (Right eye is near blind from a youth dart). Do I stay with these results and keep ailing for the pin in the middle or switch to a left handed bow and still use a single pin? I pull on a RH Martin Inferno currently, 65lbs at 29”. Any recommendations for starting over left handed would be rad.

If you want to use a slider sight, go lefty. If you can work with fixed pins, there's a few ways to create a reference for you left eye while drawing right handed. Variations of peep eliminators, mostly. If you want to go lefty, pick the bow you want right handed but at a lower draw weight. Take it easy on that transition and good luck!
How do you burn BCY 23 using this method?
How do you deal with serving separation from cam stops? I seem to go through one string per year
@robertmiller6822

Man this is a problem on alot of bows sometimes it can be the angle the string is on but it can usually be fixed by reserving again or over but I've been building strings and I've heard it could be the diameter of the serving or the kind of serving they use.
Why doesn’t anyone come up with a pre-stretched d-loop and rest cord??
@ImperiousArchery
Жыл бұрын
Chances are the knot probably has nothing (or little) to bite into (hold the knot/location) with pre-stretched string
I double up 280 lb power pro spectra one piece spliced inside other overhand knots on each end then burned ...lays flat holds does not move ...half the diameter of regular stuff...never wears either ...not even close to anybodys d loop on earth
The funniest thing is... for most people, terrible form and shot follow through is actually what's affecting their accuracy.
Hello, Does it matter which way you tie for left handed bows
@headstash1

I'm pretty sure you want to have the d loop tag ends opposite for a left handed bow. So there's a little angle in the direction you will twist with a release
Thank goodness for 2x speed.

I listen to every episode from his podcast at 1.2x time speed.
What size dloop is that
@JS-oi5jt
8 күн бұрын
it depends on the material you use... they all stretch differently.
so wheres the serving you don't show that .. wouldn't that be the 1st thing to get done??
That bow looks so bad a**! This video is timely... I just got center serving separation from pre-cutting and burning first, and cranking on for the final step.
Good info, but I never heard the part where "your d-loop could be destroying accuracy". Was that just click bait? Are you saying serving separation could destroy accuracy? Come on.
This dude has gotta fly fish hahaha

This time, I don't agree at all.

I don’t agree either. Using a pre cut and pre determined length of D loop is more consistent.
@patrickbink4617

From a knot tying perspective this method is standard procedure. Always tighten the knot from both ends. If you need consistency a dowel of desired diameter inside the loop will assure that.
