This was a fairytale for Czech Republic and it’s sad it ended with the golden goal but I was devastated that England didn’t get to the final. The atmosphere in the UK when we were winning was electric. I was a kid with no commitments and watched nearly every game of the tournament but when England played it was just something else. I would give some of my organs to be transported back to that summer lol

He actually should've saved that penalty take. Also, the guy was brought down outside the box. But dived to be that theatrical, that he jumped high in the air and fell forward into the box, just like a swimming diver does. Give the man an Olympic medal after that dive.

​@@user-nu7th2jz5tok Malakia, hiding behind a Greek or Macedonian name. I still stand by my comment. As the Czech player was brought outside the box. It was very theatrical, have to admit. And the penalty shot went under the goalie, being a straight forward save. It wasn't all that powerful.

They choked in the last Euro as well, against Italy 🇮🇹 . 🤣🤣 So it isn't sad at all. It's like in 2006, when Germany didn't make the final of their home final. After losing to the Azzuri again in the Semi. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You know I've seen this so often but I don't think I consciously realized until now Poborsky (the person with arguably the goal of the tournament against Portugal) was on the team

Actually the actual tackle that tripped Poborsky while he was jumping over the defender was already inside the box or at least right on the line and the advantage in judgement here favors the attacker - fouls on the line are considered inside.

According to law 13 of the rules of the game: ‚Offences are penalised at the point on the field where the offence occurred so a foul outside the penalty area is a free kick offence even if the player falls into the penalty area.‘ The offence occurred outside the penalty area evident by Sammer raising his leg. I watched it many times and your comment doesn’t check out.

It is a big team in the world for sure,but i think brazil and italy are stronger football nations.. Damals habe ich mich mega gefreut. Heute sage ich, dass dieses Golden Goal eine der miesesten Regelungen überhaupt war. Vier Jahre später wurden die Franzosen durch Trezeguet ebenfalls dadurch Europameister. Zum Glück gibt es das nicht mehr.

@@norben1162, I think it wasn't “fearmongering” up there. He meant that the current team has a different mentality, it’s not German (despite the fact, that some of them was born in Germany). You can't compare their fighting spirit and will to win, with "German machine" of 70's or 80's, it's obvious. That's why today's team shows such poor results. You won’t argue, that the German team showed a disastrous performance at the last tournaments, will you? Their game was a complete nightmare.
