My thoughts exactly. There's a huge difference between freedom of speech and death threats, inciting violence, bullying, harassment, intimidation, destruction of property, assaulting people, and antisemitism. The First Amendment does not give any person/group the right to carry out such anti-social behavior, support terrorism, burn the American flag, or violate the laws of America. Fullstop.

The deal for protestors has always been that if you want to, you can break the law to get a little more attention for your cause, but then you still must answer for the lawbreaking. If you want a career, it's not worth it to have to explain to every employer why you have an arrest record, or even a conviction.

Withholding someone's diploma will greatly affect their ability to get the best jobs since unless you are extraordinarily spectacular, most companies will not wait for you but will move on to the next candidate. You will also not be able to apply to grad school if that is your plan and will have to wait until the next year, and that will likely mean needing to explain why which might mean not getting accepted. It's not the end of the world, but it will create a lot of hassle and lost opportunities.

The University should permanently withhold degrees from these individuals who should not be able to leverage job opportunities through the University reputation. This would be a bad reflection on the character of other hard-working students graduating. The University should disassociation themselves from the bad behaviour and not undermine other students' credentials. Employers will be looking to mitigate toxic hires from these institutions.

That would require dedication. And virtue signaling is a far cry from dedication. In two weeks they will be back home with mommy and daddy all comfy and cozy, and all will be forgiven and forgotten.

CWRU is a private school, it is private property, the students do not have freedom of speech while on someone else’s property.

Students must appeal showing reflection of their actions and what they did wrong and should have not done to regain their diplomas because they have used the schools resources to go astray from the values and morals of the institution.

Scarlarship should become revoked. Or completely banned from school programs, classes etc. On campus and online. You cannot let students control the school.

CWRU can threaten students with disciplines , however ,if it withholds degrees without due process, the administration will pay a severe price from successful legal challenges.
