I can't believe that there's rabbits in the city. We used to live out in the country and would see rabbits in the yard when we came home from work. But we haven't seen any rabbits in about 15 years. We took our 2nd and 3rd beagles, Ranger and Runner (sibling brothers), with us camping. As we were walking to the bathhouse, a deer ran across the road. They wanted to give chase. We bred a litter, Trucker and Traveler. Once, when they were about 4 months old, I glanced to the backyard and they were lying on the back porch sphinx-like, staring intently in the backyard. I finally saw what they were concentrating on. It was a baby rabbit near the porch. When they thought the rabbit was at the point of no return, they jumped off the porch chasing the rabbit. Fortunately, the rabbit slipped through the fence.

I knew a small, fat dog who lived in a great big house. Every day, when she was let out, he would bark randomly for a good minute. I always took it as her announcing her arrival to the world.

My first Beagle, Molly, did not understand the word rabbit, only understood the word bunny. She would stand there, looking at the rabbit, and eventually she realized what it was, her ears would pick up and she would take off, chasing the bunny out of the yard. Once the rabbit was gone she would come back, walking like "I did my job, the rabbit is gone". She never came close to getting the bunny. Now the current Beagle, Jack, will do a staring contest with a local bunny and they do a ring around the rosy around one of the bushes in the backyard, just a few feet from each other. Jack has never harmed a rabbit and don't think he has the instinct to do so.

I'm definitely sure that Oliver really just wanted to make friends with the rabits - his reaction was very clear. I know this from my first Cocker Spaniel. He did not 'Think' first, he directly started hunting, when he saw or even just smelled a rabbit. Aric was very successful, and the rabits had no chance. It's important to mention that I rot my first Cocker Spaniel from a hunter. ... My other Cocker Spaniels later had no interesting in hunting - like Oliver. Oliver's reactions are awesome, 'Cocker Spaniel' from Germany. ❤😉🙋‍♀️

I missed Oliver and was hoping he was okay. I think the rabbit knew he was not in danger because he didn't run away, but I also think he was enjoying taunting Oliver. Oliver has a cute cousin about the same age in Miami. Would be great if they could meet. 🐶 🧡

I've got a lot of comments on there and I have subscribed to every beagle I come across. I've been helping my veterinarian out with work around the office just to get out a little and also help others with pets..you guys take care it's really hot here right now. I really loved the video seeing Oliver in action 🎬..hard to think he is six years old time flies and cherish each day with him and take time out for extra pettings and scratches and hugs. Havent seen Ollie in a long time. Just love that dogggie.

That's no ordinary rabbit. That was a rabbit ninja! It's fur blended well with the light color dirt. It shows it's agility by letting Oliver chased it. I love seeing Oliver's obsession in action. The tauating part was one of the best.

Oliver is one of those dogs that will always look like a puppy. We had a yellow lab named Sally. Even though she was 16 she still had that puppy look in her eyes❤️🐾❤️

Love seeing Oliver practice hunting in the courtyard. Doubt he'd know what to do if he'd caught the rabbit. He seemed to be having a good time though.

"Don't be grumpy" But the dog was intruding on my yard, is what Oliver said hehehehehe.

Oliver is so adorable, and the two of you have such excellent interaction. You are the kindest, most patient owner, and Oliver has such soulful eyes and an adorable face. Nice harness for him for his walks ... I just bought my two dogs something similar. Those harnesses with the chest loop are really the best for dogs who pull. It spares their tracheas from the tug of the collar. Great video!

OMG!! I have had many Beagles over the years and I NEVER had one stay SILENT when they saw anything moving, no less a rabbit. The Beagle’s ears are so long to help “push” the scent toward the nose; this helps them track. I miss having a Beagle!
