I worked in the automotive field for well over 30 years. I started as a mechanic, then a dealership service advisor, then a technical writer, and finally an insurance adjuster. Until I subscribed and started watching your videos, I thought I had seen everything. I was wrong! Some of the things I saw in the field: • A guy brought his car into the dealership for an oil leak and rough running. We opened the hood and found one of his connecting rods sticking through the side of the block. Yes, the engine was running. • A woman brought her car in for "poor handling." We found that the Pittman arm was turned around facing backwards. she said she didn't remember hitting anything. • Customer brought in a vehicle for new tires. Put it on the lift and as soon as the tires left the ground, the right front wheel fell off, taking the half-shaft with it. • Woman brought in a car for a new battery. We replaced her battery, she backed out of the stall, and immediately pulled back in complaining that there was something wrong. She had a broken engine mount and claimed that we broke it. While replacing the battery. Store manager bought her a new engine mount and I got paid to replace it. • Guy said he had to push the brake pedal too far to get the car to stop. We found that his front rotors were completely worn away. His brake pad backing plate was pressing on the cooling fins inside the rotor. There was NO friction surface left at all. These are just a few that come immediately to mind. But they are all from the days before we all carried video cameras in our pockets. You and your contributors keep up the good work. You're a source of endless amusement for an old hand like me.

Oh, I’ve got one that hasn’t been topped yet…I worked at a Kenworth repair center in Reno NV. We had a truck come in needing a new clutch (at least that’s what the seven guys in the truck said). We stopped them at the front of the lot because something smelled like raw sewage. The shop manager asked what the smell was from. They said they cut a hole in the sleeper floor so the guys didn’t have to stop for bathroom breaks. They just pissed and crapped through the hole as the truck rolled down the road. The entire underside of the truck was coated in human waste. When we refused to allow them to even park in our lot, they left. We immediately called a former mechanic who was now a commercial weighs and scales trooper with the Nevada Hwy Patrol. The truck was stopped leaving the International truck repair center across the street from us. The seven guys were all arrested for being in the country illegally, no licenses, false insurance/registration, and having a bunch of pot in the sleeper.

Gave him my advice to follow to keep the engine safe from harm. He didn't follow it and engine lasted about 500 miles. His father had classic car collection. Dumped about 2 gal of gas down the carb to get it going, cause he thought it wasn't getting any. Filled the crank case. Gave him the same advice I did to his son. But like son like father. that engine lasted about a 1000 miles. This one turned out to be the carb was already flooding over into the intake. He just added to the problem. 9:07 How did the turtle end up with enough velocity to end up in this situation ? LOL !
So much gold in just 1 video! Excellent!
11:16 that might actually be ok. I've seen several smaller, light duty machines that use grease as lubricant for power take offs and drivetrain boxes. When warm it will flow better than in that clip and it looks pretty clean. Its common practice to pump grease into tiller chain boxes when the lower seals give out and the oil is gone.....never had one fail yet with grease in it!
How the flying hell do people overfill their engine by not a quart but by something like 25 quarts... did nothing feel off when comparing the amount coming out to the amount going in?

I dunno, but my mom took her Lexus RX300 to a Lexus dealership and the tech put in oil without... checking it. There was 2x the amount of oil then it should've had. She wrote a letter to Lexus and I don't recall, but I'm pretty sure that tech was fired. (I think it was a courtesy service with the new car or something like that?)

Thats crazy that he went through the huge job of doing duramax heads just to put RTV. Also as far as the flamable trash bin, I feel that many shops don't take oily rag storage seriously. If there was to be an inspector that day, they would have a massive fine for putting oily rags in an open plastic bin. They even have to potential to spontaneously combust.

Old post. Must be the loose nut between the seat and the steering wheel.
1:15 STOP! DON'T LET IT ESCAPE! YOUR CAR NEEDED THAT TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY! 😆
4:32! I literally had to LOL! I did the exact same thing on a 1997 Ford F150 XLT around 1998. I didn't want to run the amp wire through the gasket where the steering column was so drilled through the floorboard thinking I had more than enough clearance. Nope! Drilled straight into the brake booster. I fixed it by screwing a slightly larger bolt into it but wound up replacing the booster later on as I could hear it hissing. Live and learn!
