These videos are meant to be educational and funny, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
0:00 Intro.
0:05 "When I asked the customer what was going on with that setup, he said he wanted to fit a JDM wheel with 5x114.3mm PCD. His car originally came with a 4x100 PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter). The owner refused to change the hub to a proper 5x114.3mm or get it fixed even after our explanation about safety so we refused to touch the car, reinstalled the wheel and he drove away."
0:20 The driver-side far left vent was closed.
0:30 The oil pressure relief/bypass valve that was in the wrong spot prevented the engine from having any adequate oil flow through the rest of the engine and was ran like this by the customer.
Last he heard the customer still hasn't got the engine fixed or replaced.
0:57 Factory coil springs need to be removed after installing aftermarket coilovers.
1:09 "This Ford Ka was brought into our shop to change two front tires and some brake work and a pre-ITV inspection (If its road worthly) is when we noticed this custom Horn switch the customer had fabricated themselves."
1:15 Customer didn't know the transfer case was in Neutral. The transfer case was put into 2HI and it fixed their issue.
1:27 "A couple purchased a Mini from a local dealership with a bouquette of issues, that was probably the most minor one. Just another reason to do a pre-purchase inspection.
1:37 House keys the customer tied near the steering column made the noise the customer heard.
1:44 No extra info.
1:50 New brake pads and brake rotors were installed.
2:03 No extra info.
2:14 The engine shuts off when the auto start/stop feature is engaged and that's why the oil pressure goes to zero. No problem found.
2:21 The technician said it needed a ton of other work as well that was not performed.
2:32 Didn't take much to crack the plastic transmission pan on this Ford Bronco. The customer had it replaced.
2:40 A good reason to read the owner's manual.
2:52 This Mercedes-Benz had quite a strong smell to it from all of these "air fresheners" the customer had in their car.
3:10 Outro. Thanks for watching!

I told them I wanted to get my stuff and my stereo out of the car and the manager said "well, it has to have a stereo in it for us to sell it" (which is bullshit), but I just replied "oh, you won't get anything out of that car, the entire rear end is rotted and the trailing arms are dragging on the ground". That actually happened about 70 miles west of me. A couple went car shopping and happened upon a small car lot. When I say small, I mean it was a one man band, with just a handful of cars up for sale. So couple asked the dealer if they could test drive one that they took an interest in. Dealer said "Sure, Let me come with ya! I need to get some gas anyways!" and took a jerry can in the trunk. You can probably already see where this is going. Test drive went well, and along the way, the dealer filled the jerry can with 5 gallons. Couple went ahead and got the car, went back to the office and did all the paperwork and exchanged money. After the deal was done, the dealer said, "OH! I forgot, I need to get my gas out of the trunk!" Up until this point, both sides agree that this happened. What is disputed is what followed. Somebody pressed the button on the key fob to open the trunk. Dealer says it was the couple, the couple says it was the dealer, either way, somebody pressed the button, and there was a spark from the electronic trunk latch, and the car burned down to the bare frame, even the aluminum wheels were gone. Ponder on that for a second. The couple got to enjoy the car on a test drive, but never got to get behind the wheel after they owned the car. Because when they signed the paperwork, and the money changed hands, the car was theirs. It went to court, they demanded a refund, dealer says that the couple pressed the button so they were responsible for burning down their own car, couple said the dealer pressed the button so he burned down the car, no idea how it ended, never saw it in the paper again.

2:24 - I used to do security at an old job and I kept telling them that the vehicle's engine mounts were loose or broken. This went on for almost 7 months and I made the report every time I was assigned to the car. Eventually the engine AND transmission dropped entirely out of the car while it was in motion... right in front of the facility (which was bad enough) but also right in front of the facility director who went absolutely ballistic when he saw all of the reports I had submitted (no one else had mentioned the issue) and not been addressed, requiring replacement of the entire vehicle rather than just a few relatively inexpensive mounts.

I needed to transport a client once and requested a car, when I picked it up it had a due for service indicator light on, so I wrote up a maintenance request. I once did Security/Shuttle Bus work for a certain pharmaceutical company. I reported several times that my particular bus (1996 Ford E-350 Cutaway, with a Champion 14-passenger shuttle bus body) had very weak brakes. As in like, pedal-to-the-floor. The part of the facility that was my route had a speed limit of 5 mph, so he deemed it safe. At one point, I'm squeezing through this narrow roadway between two buildings, a roadway that also has train tracks down the center, with overhead pipes. As I'm slowly idling through, a forklift driver zips out of one building right in front of me. I hit the brakes, pedal goes to the floor, bus doesn't slow at all. A few moments later I'm descending a hill, riding the brakes, and picking up speed. I hit the E-brake gently to slow down, but the E-brake didn't work AT ALL. My fourth call over the radio, I blasted the "Transportation Secretary" explaining the bus would barely stop, and I refused to drive it any more, he could pick it up at one specific building and I would walk two miles to my car because I wasn't putting my safety, or any others, at risk. Finally, he decided to take a look at it, drove it around a bit, and said "the brakes have always been soft on this bus." Which is absolute BS, I drove the same exact bus on the same route two days prior with no issues. I reiterated my stance that I would refuse to operate the bus until it had been repaired. He threatened me with my job, I threatened him with the Department of Motor Vehicles, so he reluctantly gave me a GMC Safari as an alternate vehicle and had the bus towed. In a little over an hour, he had heard back from the shop the bus was towed to. Master cylinder was completely shot, barely holding any pressure at all. They took it for a test drive and lost all brakes completely, had to stop the vehicle by slamming it into Park because the E-brake was shot (E-brake indicator light switch was bad in all of our buses, some drivers would drive around all day with the E-brake on wearing the brakes down to nothing, you could check every bus's "Deficiency Report" in the mileage logbook and find me reporting every one of them as I found them). "Andy, you seem to know a lot more about cars than I do." I smiled sweetly and said, "Don't you think you're in the wrong job, then?" Which is something you never say to a retired military man who has no auto repair experience, yet is in charge of managing a fleet of buses, company cars, commercial trucks, the company's own fire department trucks... 🤣

When doing german Army basic service, one of my duties on occasion was to drive some guards around which were looking for the sheltered jet fighters and nukes there. First round in the morning was with an old VW T2 bus with aircooled engine. the rest of the day I had a T2 twin cab with the little Diesel engine in it. The bus, however, was completely rundown, and in dire need of maintenance. for unknown reasons the guard group never submitted it to maintenance at all. the brakes were so weak even if I stood on the brake pedal with all my weight (around 200 pounds at the time) I could only barely slow the vehicle down. there were other issues coming from wearout. being a car mechanic I could not risk it anymore and wrote a report on the order sheet. next day the bus was gone, and later I heard they thrashed it right away. the guard's boss tried to chew me out over it (they were afraid they wouldn't be assigned a bus again after that), so I explained to him that being a car mechanic I ought to know better than to drive a car without brakes, and could not take the risk to me and anyone else; and that was that. I was never again assigned that duty. worked for me.

The last one with air fresheners brings back horor memories. There were some cars that I would go to get into that stank so bad from them that I physically couldn't get in them. I opened the door for a couple minutes to let them air out before driving them into the shop. Now for the really fun part I had one customer that yelled at me for letting all the "freshness" leave his car and slammed the door shut. I told him to take the car somewhere else. It was a oil change so no great loss.

Seeing these reminds me of a repair I performed worthy of this channel. This was in the late '70s and my '66 Ford Fairlane GTA had a sagging rear end due to failing leaf springs. I installed some Monroe air shocks and was able to raise the back end up to where it should be. Got on the gas one day and the rear end dropped on one side. The plate holding the springs to the rear end via U-bolts was also where the shock connected. This 1/4" steel plate ripped such that the shock mount was almost touching the ground. My shoddy repair was to jam a log between the axle and the body. The ride sucked, but it kept me going until I bought some springs, plates, and U-bolts from a '71 Torino GT at a U-pull-it junk yard. The original springs had rusted and the leafs were all broken at the axle!

@@CJO-no1 Except for the oil filter with a built in pressure regulator. As Nelson said: if you can't afford the maintenance, you can't afford a Porsche. I'm not saying you can't work on these by yourself, at least up to the CANbus era, but you need to know what you're doing. Also, new Porsches don't last, like nothing does anymore.

@CJO-lq8bp the turbo cars require the motor to be pulled to change the spark plugs. Since it's a boxer the plugs get dirty faster too.

I live in the UK and having a strict MOT test on a yearly basis, These videos are mind blowingly unbelievable. I can't believe how some people risk their lives driving utter death traps. They also give me a good laugh too. Keep up the good work.

Bonus on that horn: Yellow/green is supposed to be used ONLY for grounding wires. Whoever did that botched it both as a mechanic and as an electrician.

But surely pressing that contact is what grounds the horn and makes it sound....

Probably not. Nearly all horns operate by being live & the horn button is the switched ground. Unless the horn is on a relay, in which case you're probably right.
