Grandmas always come up with the weirdest/most unsettling things. I once cracked a short joke at mine(I'm 6'2 and she's like 5'1) while giving her a hug as I was leaving her house and my in-her-70's grandmother looked me dead in the eyes and said she'd knee me in the crotch so hard I'd have testicles for teeth. Any kids or annoying adults in your life? Why wait? Start practicing so you're really good when it counts :D Life is short. As soon as I hit the 1/2 century mark (I have lotsa white hair; it Really impacts people's attitude/expectations), I started my old lady privilege. Tell people when they're doing a good job. Tell bosses they ought treat their workers better. Bake for a young helpful neighbor. (Turned out to be an incredible jackass & hurt decent people, but what am I, psychic?) Start sentences with "When I was young" to be able to tell people what to do or get them to appreciate how the world has improved..."we didn't have search engines. We used encyclopedias & for a curious kid, they were almost as distracting & addicting as the internet...especially if you couldn't care less about your assignment's subject..." Take age for a test drive! Do it. An old bag is telling you to.

I lost my grandma last year, and the other two didn’t bother to reach out (as per usual) to offer me any comfort 🙃 Funny story about my late grandma, she thought texting was unnecessary and lazy, and she said that calling would be better. She didn’t even know how to text on her flip phone, even though she’d had one for something like twenty years. Now of course, her disdain for texting didn’t apply to when she used my grandad’s smartphone lol. She was a character

I once was helping my Grandma send someone something on her phone, when I saw a conversation she was having with someone in her contacts named “Bro.” The messages the two exchanged were completely gibberish. When I asked her who Bro was, she said she had no idea, and didn’t recall having a conversation with them. Who knows how grandmas do it

My favorite text from my grandma I got was when I sent her a picture of my little parrot with her first egg. So a small fluffy adorable bird looking at an egg. Gramma's reply: "Scary!! My grandma said she hated texting, and would never do it herself unless absolutely necessary. She thought that if you truly needed something or wanted to talk, you should call. The only grandparent I ever talked to lives all the way in Ukraine and has dementia. She would call us from there now and then on our home phone and my mum would bring it over to me and I would hear her calling me a little rabbit and that was about all I could understand of her Russian. I hope she's doing well.

fun story: my grandma once sent me an image of a full trash container without any context. I replied with a GIF of confused guy with the text "WTF". Then she proceeds to type the name "Alice [Lastname]" 3 times (which wasn't my name) and then calls me. when I she talks about how that "Alice [lastname]" used to be kind but now she is cruel and wants to invite a stranger black man to her birthday. (the man was the guy in the GIF) that was the most confusing conversation, and I still need to know the Alice lore.
