Bob Reynolds is a Grammy Award-winning tenor saxophonist known for his work with Snarky Puppy, John Mayer, and 8 solo albums. He is a D'Addario Woodwinds artist.
LONGER BIO
Saxophonist Bob Reynolds is an in-demand jazz performer, educator, and sideman, as well as a regular member of the Grammy Award-winning band Snarky Puppy. Born in Morristown, New Jersey in 1977, Reynolds grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where he first started playing saxophone at age 13. Although he listened to a range of music as a kid, by his late teens he was a dedicated jazz student. After high school he honed his skills at Boston's Berklee College of Music, where he mentored with George Garzone, Hal Crook, and others. As a leader, he debuted with 2000's The Bob Reynolds Quartet, followed by 2006's Can't Wait for Perfect. That same year, he joined fellow Berklee alum John Mayer's band and spent the next five years with the pop star, touring and appearing on such albums as 2008's Where the Light Is and 2009's Battle Studies.
In 2013, he returned to his solo work with Somewhere in Between, which reached number one on digital jazz charts. He then made his Snarky Puppy debut appearing on the genre-bending group's 2014 effort, We Like It Here. Two years later he was back with Snarky Puppy for the Grammy Award-winning Culcha Vulcha. In 2017, Reynolds delivered the EP Guitar Band, which featured appearances from Kneebody bassist Kaveh Rastegar as well as fellow Snarky Puppy members Robert "Sput" Searight (drums) and Mark Lettieri (guitar). ~ Matt Collar

Uau! mr Chaun Horton is pretty damn good on the drums! Specially with the contrast of the sax melody. Got me a little emotional, really beautiful. Sirota e Gwizdala are awesome too, but I already knew that hahaha. Really high expectations for the other tracks. Congrats guys!

Yeah. In my opinion, the piano sounded more classical than it does jazz for an improvisation which I thought was really cool.

I have given this a week of listens before deciding to comment. There are some moments - gems of sound and life - captured in this tune that are heartrendingly perfect. Even more so if you've followed the people in this band through Bob's and Janek's vlogs. That insane mischievous and perfect run at 1:33 into that Major chord by Ruslan. I knew where the harmony was going and it still managed to take me by surprise. 3:26 ish when Chaun Horton feel's Ruslan's solo settling into a different groove and starts opening his high hat just a bit for that sizzle sound on beat 2 and totally transforms the feel of the tune. So subtle and understated, but so musical. It sounds amazing. 3:44 -Bob grooving to his rhythm section mid solo in the background, a perfect smile on his face. It's such a great musical moment, and it's so him. Just pure joy at the music being created - digging it. And Janek with that mischievous, knowing, hip smile at 3:56. That right there is Janek Gwizdala encapsulated in a 3 section slice of video. His love for the music and his joy at being a part of it all. Anyway, I leave this here mostly for myself - to look back on in a year and see what I still hear the same and what's changed. Thanks as always Bob for giving us this glimpse into a beautiful world.

I like how this version basically crescendoes across the entire first five minutes, rather than restarting the energy at the beginning of every solo. Big picture.

Played this song and Hollywood Startup for my 13-old son yesterday in the car. We just sat and listened, both of us didn't say a thing. After the songs ended, he told me he thought the music was beautiful - it was soothing and made him feel at ease and peaceful. Great review ;-)

I've been on this earth about half century now. I've been an "audiophile" for about 15 of those years. I've heard more genres that I could recite, and love them all. I've lost count of the songs that have made an impact on my life. To date, those "mere songs", that I thought meant something to me seem to have been erased by the introduction of this mans music into my life. I'm beside myself at the thought that one man can erase a lifetime of musical passion, and replace it with his art. Everything else seems like it was some kind of childrens toy that's been playing music to me all these years.

I've found his entire 11 album discography on sale for $54. That inexpensive, especially since it's available in lossless format. Despite what my bank account says I should be doing, I think I'm about to buy them all. It's not what I "should be doing", but this music speaks to me. bobreynolds.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-the-jazz-corner

How can words begin to describe the beauty of this piece and the musicianship of this group? That sax tone and that piano solo. Just sublime. The hand-off of Bob's solo to Rusian's - masterful. The blending of Rusian's solo back into the melody. Unreal.
