Bob Reynolds is a Grammy Award-winning tenor saxophonist known for his work with Snarky Puppy, John Mayer, and 8 solo albums. He is a D'Addario Woodwinds artist.
LONGER BIO
Saxophonist Bob Reynolds is an in-demand jazz performer, educator, and sideman, as well as a regular member of the Grammy Award-winning band Snarky Puppy. Born in Morristown, New Jersey in 1977, Reynolds grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where he first started playing saxophone at age 13. Although he listened to a range of music as a kid, by his late teens he was a dedicated jazz student. After high school he honed his skills at Boston's Berklee College of Music, where he mentored with George Garzone, Hal Crook, and others. As a leader, he debuted with 2000's The Bob Reynolds Quartet, followed by 2006's Can't Wait for Perfect. That same year, he joined fellow Berklee alum John Mayer's band and spent the next five years with the pop star, touring and appearing on such albums as 2008's Where the Light Is and 2009's Battle Studies.
In 2013, he returned to his solo work with Somewhere in Between, which reached number one on digital jazz charts. He then made his Snarky Puppy debut appearing on the genre-bending group's 2014 effort, We Like It Here. Two years later he was back with Snarky Puppy for the Grammy Award-winning Culcha Vulcha. In 2017, Reynolds delivered the EP Guitar Band, which featured appearances from Kneebody bassist Kaveh Rastegar as well as fellow Snarky Puppy members Robert "Sput" Searight (drums) and Mark Lettieri (guitar). ~ Matt Collar

Blamelouis, 9 minutes?! Perfect. That will give him enough time for smoke too! 😄
You guys are so tight. Oh my gosh.
Ruslan’s solo was from another dimension! Wow! What a ride!
I'm impressed by how you sound different on every album. I mean, you sound like Bob Reynods obviously, yet there's always a new color coming into your playing, truly inspiring.

This is probably the most connected quartet I've ever heard in my life. Thanks for this, Bob. You are a living inspiration for me. AWESOME!
Bob Reynolds I appreciate the lung art you share with us💚
Siiiiick! Ruslan and Chaun destroying the universe...
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” applies to this group. So many jazz groups use tunes to showcase individuals’ chops. The groups Bob puts together play with great sensibility to the song and to each other. What a great quartet.
This is the type of KZread content we need more of…wow! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It’s great to hear a recording of a group of musicians who have developed that 6th sense feel for each other. The Baked Potato was the slow cooker that gave birth to this delicious sample of sound. Unique voices coming together to create something great collectively. Bravo Bob!
Watched 3 times in a row. Better every time.
Holy s***...What a time to be alive. Can’t wait to witness this live in a months time 💯🎷🔥
continuing to listen and watch this, one of the tightest quartets I’ve ever heard.
Really impressed by the quartet Bob, keep it up;)
I just twisted my eyeballs and saw the back of my head on Ruslan Sirota's solo... jesus christ! And thank you for all these experiences, Bob. Your art is truly one of a kind. And especially because you're such a wonderfully humble and nice person - as I've had the opportunity to confirm through our chat after Snarky's show in Lisbon (Portugal) a few years ago. Please, keep being you and doing what you do for the sake of music history 💜

I follow bob since a year ago and I've been forced to get a sax again and start practicing again since he's too inspiring to be ignored. (im mainly bassist) Jeez, with those live records and the blog I only can say: what a time to be alive. #GoJazzOrGoHome
Les spirales du sax soutenues par une rythmique basse - batterie en totale synergie et introduisant le morceau, comme pour définir l'ambiance , puis vient le solo de piano qui ouvre une séquence plus libre . Un Jazz superbe .
Love the phrasing everything falls in the right place, from one Sax player to another
I'm setting up my cameras and lights to shoot my today guitar vlog while listening to this beautiful music. Very inspiring. Life is sweet today. Thank you.
Completely blown away by this... What an incredible performance, and the communication between them! WOW I got so carried away towards the end of the piano solo, my girlfriend came into the room to check on me cause cause i was screaming out loud... hahahah
This is a really great performance. Love song dynamic changes. Janek's bass sounds awesome, remember this one from one of his VLOGs ))) Bob is the top as always.
beautiful

I've listened to this song almost every day since Quartet came out. Everytime I listen to this song it gives me the feels and makes me feel good inside. I don't even know how to describe it but it's just so amazingly good! I'm gonna try and transcribe the piano part because it's so awesome! This is definitely one of my favorite songs
Come to Portugal Bob!! We love you up here at Porto!!
Amazing! That pocket tho'
wow - beautiful sound, AND outstanding musicianship. Unbeatable combo! Thank you again Bob....
Beautiful, melodic and simplistic. Love it. And wow - what a super tight band you have.
That sick tone control starting at 4:10. Gave me goosebumps. I'm taking a really late lunch. Been a really long day. It's like 3pm right now. This made it all better :) Also Ruslan's playing is incredible. I love how his face looks like he's surprised by his own playing. Now that's transcendence.
Massive groove and musicality, huge props to all the musicians and Bob
This is what i call a band, 4 great musicians with great feeling, beautiful work a real pleasure for the ears and soul. Thanks.
Great band, totally immersed in Mr. Chaun Dupre' Horton's hi-level skills for my first run-thru.
Super beautiful! Bob, it's surprise for me to hear that you play more outside phrases than usually! You pocket and sound is perfect! Thank you so much!
favorite quartet right there!

I got one word... SWEET!
Cool ! Sound sax 😎😎😎😎🎷🎶
incomparable to "crush" with its distinct attack, can't wait for this album to be release. May MAY 15th come early.
Wow great performance! I loved how dynamic you guys were throughout the tune and how the drummer played off the melody. Can you explain why it looks like you are playing into two microphones here?
@aidanmay5142
6 жыл бұрын
I imagine it's mainly for mixing purposes- different mics have different frequency responses so will record slightly different sounding audio and also the distance from the sax will also affect the audio- ocassionally a close bell mic (which usually records beefier low end because of the proximity effect) will suit certain songs and a slightly more distant mic will suit a different song better. A lot of it is trial and error though so if you have two mocs and don't like the sound of one- you can just mute it in the mix or delete the audio recorded by that mic...
Wonderfully loose but so crafted..
Love this one too!! And, as a bass player, well...there's Janek...
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dropped my jaw, now I can't find it.
Baked Potato Alumnis. Just great !!
dang!
Maravilha!!!
Great music, you should come in Montreal for The Montreal Jazz Festival.
