In 1990 Had been diagnosed with cancer and given a 10% chance of surviving. Went to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Tx. Finished Chemo and began Radiation. About the 3rd week of Radiation, I finished a treatment and was down and not feeling well. Walked out and got in my car. This song played on the radio. I listened to the words “Don’t believe it’s over”. They had a much stronger meaning that day and were inspirational. They still are 30 years later!

One of the best things my dad did for me was give to me the knowledge of 80’s music. I’ve always jammed it here and there but it wasn’t till his loss that I can really appreciate it now. After scrolling through a lot of the comments I’m seeing how people think the newer generations don’t appreciate this music and how youth is wasted on the young. While that is mostly true, there is also small pockets of us younger folk that do in fact appreciate not only music such as this, but also realize that life/youth/time is fleeting and the only way to slow it down (at least a little) is to truly live in the moment. Be Here Now is the best advice I can give to anyone. I also feel that every generation rises to the challenge when they have to, despite the previous generations misconceptions. After all we’ve learned from you guys 😁 so I wouldn’t worry too much about your legacies and such. I believe they’re in good hands 👍 and dad, I’ll never dream that it’s over. I’m sorry things didn’t work out between us but my only hope always has and always will be to make you proud ❤️ Rest In Peace. I love and miss you. 12/16/64 - 8/18/20

What a great song with meaning, and it is so relevant today! You don’t get songs like this anymore.

You are so correct!!!!! Never great music nowadays!!!
Time flies by so fast. I just just a lad when this song was released, now I'm almost 50....
Him and Tony Hadley still have absolutely flawless voices that have hardly aged. The 80s produced some true talent.
I was having the hardest day of my life, nothing good was happening. Only conflict. Then I found this by accident. The beauty of audience participation just blew my mind and turned my mood around. BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
Auauthentic gentlemen of rock, their songs transmit great humanity❤
I can't help but tear up when listening to this fabulous song, my youth is spent, and the sadness sets in.

Don’t dispair... there are real musicians still out there and being born every second. Go out there and find them and give them the same chance these guys had.
Neil Finn...one of the greatest songwriters of his generation.
This song is a soundtrack to a moment in my life when i was crossing the 3 Mile Bridge in Pensacola. Looking out over the Bay, the water, waves and ripple of sunlight on the whitecaps seemed to be in perfect unison with the song on my radio. It was a moment where i felt both peace and life. I try to relive that.
I remember buying this record and I almost danced 🕺 out the store to go home 🏡 and play it on my record player !! Great 👍 memories
This song helped me get through Army basic training back in 1987. We weren't allowed to have cassette tapes during basic training. I brought a boat load of cassettes with me. During shakedown a Drill Sargent got into my face and said "you came here to jam, didn't you?" So, this was the song that I sang in my head to get me through basic training.

Funny how you can recall the songs you liked after so many years....I had a 2nd job in the evening and they used to play it on the local radio. My brother asked me what I wished to my bd and I answered "Crowded house". I still have the CD and listen to it sometimes, but I prefer the farewell version with all band members.
One of the most underrated bands of all time, sadly, most of the youth of today has never even heard of them. Their writing and songs are timeless but sadly the ripples of their music haven’t spread too far.
One of the best songs ever.
80’s classic! A song that transcends from a generation to the present. lovely! Love this when i was 11, still love this now that im 48
Wow, Finn’s voice sounds just as great 30 years later! They all sound great. And that crowd. Dayum! So beautiful.

Heard this song here and there over the years but never paid attention to the lyrics, just the feeling I got. Today I got it all. How profound that experiences such as this can enable us to so easily connect with each other to truth, beauty, and peace across time and space. A glimpse of eternity?
very powerful..song..the power to make a man cry....even when it is over and you know it...oh well ,,life goes on...
Fantastic when you can stop singing and your audience just carries on and couldn’t care less! Then you really know you’ve arrived! Brilliant! What a great band! 🇬🇧😆
gosh! feels like a life time ago. We were so young, nothing could stop us.. full of dreams and not a worry on our mind. Life was so simple. I am so grateful to be one of the 80ies kids! Knowing all those fantastic bands knowing all the lyrics -- makes feel so alive! I loved that song so much back in the days.. and I still do - AWESOME ☺️

The most underrated, missed band of all time...
I have been obsessed with this perfect gem the past couple of days. Awesome
I remember John Martyn in Lisdoonvarna in 1983, and a few more times too! I thought I was in heaven, he and his band blew me away. His talent was exceptional and the proof is in the pudding, 40 years years later my sons are playing his music.
Absolutely love this song from the very first time I heard it in the 80's. It's already bringing joy to it's third generation of listeners.

Yes. I've lots of youths in the comment section of 80s music, who say they love it. Some even say they prefer 80s and 90s music better than those of their generation. Some indicated they discovered 80s music while playing video game (GTA).
