CrossFit® Open 24.2: Ben's Reaction and Quick Tips from WODprep

Thanks to RX Smart Gear for sponsoring this video! My absolute favorite jump rope for double unders is the RX Smart Gear Evo G2 - this is the best rope on the market for effortless double unders (note: only suggested for athletes that can do 50-100 unbroken). If you're a double under beginner, then my favorite is the RX Smart Gear CustomFit with 3.4 ounce "buff" cable. Use the code "WODPREP" to save $$.

I ended my day watching other heats but the heat that made it worth it was watching the kids. The gym has a great kids program. They did 100 m row, 20 jumps and 10 Romanian deadlifts with a kids barbell. So cute to watch them

Overall this is my favorite open workout because I liked how I executed it and didn't feel like I was going to die like other open workouts usually do. I found a way to keep moving and stay focused throughout.

Thank you for the rower tips in your other video....I've always struggled with my transitions in and out of the straps...that video is gonna be a game changer tomorrow!!

I'm doing CrossFit once a week and I'm not competing in the open but there was a gym that allowed me to come do the open workout 24.2 iand your advice was spot on. I did the women's division scaled and found a good strategy and pace to keep moving and got seven rounds which is commendable considering how little aI ue CrossFit. (I'm doing boot camp right now instead for the most part and I go to CrossFit gym on a punch card) about once a week but sometimes not even that. I was very surprised that the loose straps on the rower didn't affect my feet that much. I gently laid my rope down after each round. I did break up dead lifts early knowing that The weight wasn't super heavy but maybe about 10 lb heavier than what I would typically do for a workout like that. Took a breath before each movement. All these things made up for not doing CrossFit much. There was a scaled lady after me who went at a neck break speed. Her row anked at the end of the workout. She jumped singles so fast that I think that's why she had to run to the bathroom in the middle of the workout. I don't think she would have got a better score than me if she didn't have to use the restroom because those last rounds really tanked.

Haven't done double unders since I was a teenager, now 56. So it's going to be interesting. Still going to "jump" into Rx.

Hi Ben! I recently purchased an EVO G2. I'm curious as to what cable type you choose to use. Is it the "Hyper 1.3 uncoated"? Also, curious as to what length cable you use, and what your height is? Thank you!

So I can do 50 unbroken maybe 4 sets, but when I get fatigued I have a hard time with even 20. Would you recommend breaking it up from the start, maybe 25/25? Or just do as many as possible?

I'm the same. I'm probably going to break into 25s. Just a 3 second breather between them to reset. I think much like 24.1 the key is to keep consistent and keep moving. First attempt at 24.1 was 13 minutes then I watched his wodprep video and got 11 minutes by slowing down - I have a feeling this will be a similar concept of less will equal more

Depends on your skill and fitness level. I learned double unders 2 weeks ago and fresh I can do 40 unbroken, takes me a few tries. I'll split 25 25, take 20 seconds pause between.

I think it’s possible if the rowing is paced right. I just did a 7 rds workout with 50 DU’s in the Repscheme and the only time I broke my DU is the first round when I’m getting used to the uneven wet floor😂

What is the recommended site for the jump rope mentioned. I hear 'RX Marker' but that doesn't get me there on a search. I don't see a link in the description either.
