And man you were stitching fast....I would stop stitching so I could see what you were doing and why. You definitely outstitched me and I had already started earlier before I saw your video😂🤣. But I was watching more than stitching 🙄🤔. Hope you have a great day and looking forward to stitching together ❤ again.

    Hello! I really like your style of stitching. I’m about to attempt my very first full coverage and all the boarder pages are nearly all solid black. When I tried to do diagonal stitching on a test piece, I was strict with the diagonal and ended up with noticeable diagonal lines. I heard you say that you had a pattern you were working on that had a ton of white. How would I stitch a near solid page of black without creating lines? If it helps, the pattern is Howling Moon Wolf by Sarah Richter charted by ThreadGeeksDesigns. Thank you for any help you can provide😊😊

  • @gemmastitches

    When I stitch big blocks like that I often will stitch across several diagonals at once to avoid lines. I also will stagger things a bit so that I go one stitch shy one row, then two the next, then one for a couple rows, then two, then even for a few, etc, keeping it random so it’s less likely to get a line. Or a lot of times I will outline the large area and then fill it in as one big block, working straight from border to border so that it’s one continuous area of stitching i hope that helps! Good luck!

    I’ve been trying to get my mind around your technique for some time, these videos really help! ??? When parking the thread after the very first stitch, why did you carry the thread to the 4th stitch in that run? It seems wasteful, but is there logic to it?

  • @gemmastitches

    @gemmastitches

    Жыл бұрын

    I wanted the thread to be on that side (the right) of the run so that’s why I did it that way, because of the way that block of color is shaped for subsequent rows. I found crossing as I go so the thread is on that side uses a similar amount of floss so it works out about the same for me

    I use the app RecMe, it will record whatever you are doing on the tablet. I find on my Kindle Fire that once you open RecMe and start it you have to swipe down from the top and double check that the time counter is actually running, that means it’s recording. If it isn’t running then tap on “start”. Then swipe up to close that menu and open pattern keeper as normal. When done recording, swipe down from the top again and tap on “stop”. The video should save in your tablet files. Hope that helps!

  • @gemmastitches

    @gemmastitches

    I unfortunately am not skilled enough to manage that, I have seen some amazing pieces others have done that the back looks almost as good as the front and I am in awe! My biggest tips would be to learn loop starts and pin finishes, they tend to look the neatest, and to not travel too far. I go an inch at the most, but some people will only travel 3-4 stitches to keep the back neater.

    I have it marked on my pattern where the threads are parked, and I always grid my fabric which also helps. I also always park in the same spot (upper right corner) of where I will use the thread next so I don’t get mixed up.

    do all pdfs like this pattern work for pattern keeper?

  • @gemmastitches

    @gemmastitches

    Жыл бұрын

    No the PDF must have the proper coding so that Pattern Keeper can read it properly. If it is just a scan turned into a PDF then pattern keeper cannot read the symbols. You can still mark off the pattern but it will not be searchable by symbol. Here is a link showing which designer’s patterns are supported. Major designers like HAED, Artecy, The Cross Stitch Studio, etc, will work. patternkeeper.app/supported-designers/ You can also ask the designer before buying, many that are not listed will still work. I had a couple from Etsy that did but it depends on the seller and how they created the PDF.
