I so enjoy watching ur videos and stitching with u. What do u use for a stand to stitch ur large patterns on ? I’m looking into getting a Daylight Company Stitchsmart stand and get the extras like light and pattern holder. Happy Stitching 🧵🪡❤️
I use the Michael’s brand Hook and Loop floor stand with a couple mods. I have a video here of my set-up. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qWWY062QdZvfqLA.html
Hi Gemma! I just finished my first full coverage piece thanks to you! It turns out that I really enjoy parking and now I have plans for at least three other pieces - might take a while but I'm very excited. Thanks for the inspiration :)
Oh that’s awesome! I’m so glad my work was helpful 🥰 Congratulations on your first finish!
@@gemmastitches Thank you!!!!
I still wish I could work on one project and finish it like you do. I would even be happy with 2 projects for the year but I squirrel all over the place. Diamond paint, cross stitch, crochet/knit. Anyway, dont worry about the yawning and the not being talkative when your throat is sore from the smoke or not getting enough sleep the night before. I dont mind listening to you stitch in silence as long as the humming doesnt make a reappearance. Thats the only thing in your videos that annoy me. I dont mind the wind, the air conditioner, the yawns or anything else. I love all your content and your stories.
Just curious, is your fabric pre-gridded, or do you grid it?
I sewed on my own grid. At the time I bought it I didn’t know pregridded was an option! When I buy more fabric I will be trying some for sure
100 degrees? Is that all? I'm in Las Vegas NV. LOL. Temps will reach 106 today...(cool day) and 111 by Thursday. I would rather stay indoors and watch you work on this canvas than venture outside...Cheers!
I would die at those temps lol

New to your channel. What fabric count are you using?
It is 14 count aida
Less than 2yrs is super excellent, it would take me years..👍
here in Washington state my parents (currently in their 60s) bought the Red Green box set on dvd when I was young so I grew up with him. No one else I know my age (29) knows about him. I lost my stitchy bug for a while and have it back now so I'm stitching along to you again following the playlist
Hi Gemma! I was wondering if you could explain what those ribbed needles are that you use to pull unwanted thread under. I can’t find them anywhere. Thank you.
They are snag tools, technically for fixing snags in knits but they work great for pulling those ends to the back. rb.gy/zt2s8c
@@gemmastitches thank you so much! I’m still new to the craft and learning.
Thank you for answering. I know how and I am told do very well by my family that into everything fabric imagined. Just be debating on what ct aida I want to use. My thought was higher count would make it look better. Guess I just need to get nicer patterns
What ct aida was used
This was on 14 count
Amazing dedication. I have been working on a 120 x260 piece for that long. I still got another week or two to go.😅
The back could be displayed as different form of art work of the same piece
Oh my gosh I just found this channel and I am so happy I did. I loved stitching on call with my friends when I was younger but now Im not able to as much. I have a massive project Ive been ticking away at for the past few months, using the paper pattern and a highlighter. The app that you show in your video is amazing and already so helpful! I set it up with my pattern and filled in my already done stitches while listening to you just casually talk and stitch. It was so soothing. I cant wait to binge this series while I work on my own project after work! So glad I found this channel and thank you so much for posting your content! ❤
Pattern keeper is such a game changer, isn’t it! Thanks for joining me 🥰
Where do you buy bolts of cross stitch fabric?
I bought mine off Ebay. Unfortunately that seller is no longer active. Wool warehouse sells by the meter so you can buy a continuous cut of several meters if you like. They ship worldwide.
I believe you will stitch faster than you think on this section. We all hoped you had a zero by now.
I wish I could stitch 250/hour. Pretty awesome Gemma.
Hi Gemma. We live in the southern part of Sardis near the river. But far enough that we are on higher ground. But the flood of Nov. 2021 was not fun. It wrecked the brand new part of Thurston Meadows campground.

Amazing! You ought to be proud as punch! But pray tell, the back ? How???
Thank you! I never carry my threads more than an inch and I use pin stitches to finish off a thread most of the time so that reduces the bulk on the back of the piece
Hi, I am going my first head, once upon a time. I am doing it 14 count Aida. The Aida is 40x38.my question is how do you frame it to make it tight. I am having a problem holding the fabric. 😢

Hi Gemma. I think you are my younger sister almost. We have a lot in common for sure! Murdoch is a terrific show. Have you seen Johnny Harris' show about small towns in Canada? I forget what it's called. I love Agatha Christie too. I started reading mysteries just because of her books.
I have not seen the Johnny Harris show but I will look for it!

Bikes only seem louder because they are more exposed, whereas car engines are enclosed by the body of the car and therefore seem quieter. Harley Davidson have definitely taken the idea of making loud bikes to heart though.
I loved seeing your Firefly project. I'm not sure why it would be a copyright issue since you're not selling the pattern nor sharing it with anyone. I don't think you need to be concerned.
Your stitching is so beautiful. I stopped stitching mine and just watched you. LOL!

We are having the first corn of the season tonight! For 2 summers while our daughter was in high school ( she graduated in 2016 ) she sold corn in the barns for the Sparks family. We know them from hockey because our son played twice with their son. Now our great-niece is going to sell corn this summer.
Gemma, can you please help me out? I have a pattern for a gorgeous renaissance painting, but I haven't started it becauze a big chunk of the top is the sky - very boring one or two colors. How do you begin a project when there is alot of stitching in one color, which is boring? I don't dare start from the bottom up where there is more color variation. Please advise. Thanks. 🙂🌷🧶🙂🦋🙂⚘🌞
When I started my peacock project it had only two colours in the upper left, so it was boring. What I did was start it while I was working another piece, I did the outlining stitches of the white and then slowly filled it in. I committed myself by doing at least one thread per day. Then by the time I was done my other piece (Majora’s mask clocktown) my peacock piece was ready to go at the more interesting part. This is why I started the background for my Ocarina of time piece. If I tried to stitch all that black in one go I would lose my mind! 😄
I was wondering how long a thread you use when you start a new thread colour. As I see you using loop start 99% of the time, what do you do with the double stranded threads that you cut off that are too short to fold in half? Just get rid of it? Or would you use that double strand to do a confetti ?
Yes, I do loop starts for confetti as well. I cut my threads around 33” so they are around 15” when held double. I save any leftover threads that are long enough to use again even if it’s for a single stitch since there are always scattered stitches throughout the pattern that don’t need a whole long thread. If I have some strands that are too short to fold in half but still long enough to use I will use an away thread method rather than loop start. I have a thread card for each color with a slit in it to hold leftover threads until I have a place to use them again. I show this in this video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6Jsss-eqZOvl5c.htmlsi=Ql1Sk2TCXK-WQHQ_
@@gemmastitches thank you for the explanation! Follow up Q, what is away thread method?

I so enjoy watching ur videos. I was wondering how hard is it doing a HAED ??? I’ve been stitching for two years and I think it’s time for me to try a full coverage. What company do u use to get ur kits ??? Happy stitching 🧵🪡❤️
No matter what, it’s just one stitch at a time! I don’t find HAEDs more difficult than other full coverage designers. I highly recommend using an app like pattern keeper, it is so much easier than paper, I will never go back. I only buy the pattern as a PDF, I gather the materials together myself.
I admire your work, your patience, & especially your pattern choices.
Amazing!
I really love all you’re projects it’s a shame people have nothing better to do than complain. I even bought the stain glass Zelda because you show it. Love your work 😊
I've been marveling at how fast you stitch. Do you keep your needles threaded?
Yes when I’m working in an area I keep them threaded, easy to just pick it back up again
I wish I could give you several likes for each video. You and the Stitchy Witch (Carla) are my favorite. You tell such good stories while Carla is so soothing to listen to.
