Croft Manor has always been a central part of this franchise for me. Its weird though. What started as a somewhat tutorial level, evolved into a very special place to feel at home.

God, I love how the classic TR theme's melody is integrated into this. I was so young when I played the original TR games, I barely remember them, but that theme is so iconic to me for some reason.

I would just stop. Just stop and listen to the music. Didn't matter where I was. The pool, the gym, the garden... I'd just stop and listen to this sublime music.

This song represents the old, playful adventuring of the older Tomb Raider games. While I love how realistic and mature the newer games are, the old ones will always have a special place in my heart!

I agree. The tone and feel of the new games are completely different. Not bad different, just different. They lack the same charm and enchantment of the classic Tomb Raider franchise. They have their own charm and enchantment to offer, but it's just a totally different feel altogether.

Same here lol, around 2 years ago I bought the game on Steam and played through the whole thing. Still have memories of my dad playing this when I was younger, and he always struggled to get past this one part. Makes me feel happy in a way that I was able to finish what he started.

@@randomjunkies6022 hahahah same like my dad, when I was a kid, he was obsessed with oblivion he played it every day but didn let me play it. So one day when he was at work I started the game and deleted his save by accident he was so pissed. Almost 20 years later now, and we still make jokes about it

Real Ones still listen to this no matter how old it gets ❤

It rather feels melancholy traveling around the Manor in Anniversary compared to Legend. No Zip, Alister or friendly comical banter. The pool all boarded up, the gym has fewer accessories and platforms etc. Felt a bit depressing. Nonetheless a beautiful music piece.

I don’t know too much about the older games, but from my understanding, the time line after legend goes back Lara’s very first adventure in the first game, so maybe that’s why she’s receiving the shipments of furniture and the pool isn’t ready and etc. it seems like she’s just moving into Croft manor again rather than it already being fully established. When running throughout this level, it was always a little eerie to me with the music and the lack of other people in the house. I’ve never played legend, but from a walkthrough I saw of it, it was definitely more lively and realistic than in anniversary..In anniversary, I felt like I was in an echo chamber of hearing Lara fail these super hard puzzles haha (to my credit, it was the gym part that got me, the jumping and grappling was a nightmare with motion controls on the wii)

Felt it years ago when I first played it in 2007/2008. Even now as a grown adult, in 2021, and not so long ago, was playing it and felt the same. Beautiful music, but something is a bit odd about it. It does feel rather empty and at times more than eerie as if something is looming around... 👀

Same, always been a bit afraid of this when I was little because the music was a bit mysterious but in a strange way. Added to that the lack of people and I was a bit stressed running in the dark corridors ah ah But I was even more surprised and a bit creeped out when I went back to the game this morning, I was doing the Croft Manor's puzzles and then for the first time I've just seen Winston just casually being there, a bit hidden just behind the little pathway leading to the labyrinth. I noped the heck out, especially when I realised he just stood there and you couldn't talk him it seems x)

Pareil pour moi, j'avais toujours un peu peur de me promener dans le manoir d'Anniversary comparé à celui de Legend 😂 Surtout j'évitais d'aller dans le labyrinthe par peur de me perdre et croiser des monstres en plus de la musique que je n'aimais pas, à cause de l'ambiance stressante et solitaire qu'elle rajoutait ! En tout cas maitenant j'adore cette musique et l'ambiance du manoir !

This theme has been in my head for over a decade. Haven't listened to it since then but its stuck with me all the same, and occurs whenever I walk in the moonlight for some reason. It's so calming and nostalgic and serene, a faded childhood memory.

My favourite version of Lara's mansion. Good puzzles, bit of story and music that hints of mystery and danger.

God I remembered the day I got this, it was 2009 or 2010, ups delivered the game, I was very young. The disc was so cold. I Remember playing this.

I miss good old Tomb Raider :(

following the story, after I played Legend, I was so amazed at the epicness of this game that I coudn't get enough of Tomb Raider. I wanted more. But I didn't manage to crack this one, fortunately my mom was kind enough to buy me the game since I've had good grades. Although, it was not as warm as Legend and felt kind of isolated (which perfectly transcribes the original from 1996), it definitely had that taste of adventure, same action, more exploration and still as epic as ever.

The 2 words I'd use to describe this game are isolated and difficult. There are so many occasions where I'm lost in a tomb and find myself begging either for some music to play or for someone to start talking to Lara, just to break that feeling of isolation.

I actually like the isolation in the early games way more than the action focused gameplay of the newer ones. No hand holding and you actually had to figure out the puzzles yourself. Just better IMO

I remember the feelings I was getting while listening to the soundtrack of all older TR games. I used to listen to the music almost every day and it was such a magical experence, so calm beautiful. This type of music brings out the best feelings in me, it makes me dream. Now after not listening to almost any classical type of music in a long time I feel so loaded right now listening to it. Forever in love!

Oh yes, TR in general is full of wonderful tracks, full of nostalgic, sweet and magical music that you can't just listen to it without feeling moved - it's already become part of the soundtrack of my life.

This just goes to show that its more to this than nostalgia that people will not understand lol. Im not hating on the peoole who hate our nostalgia. but i could never explain this the way you did. Everytime i come back to these i still remember that feeling compared to hearing the other game soundtracks. Its not the same anymore 😭😭😭😭. I get goosebumps and chills coning back to these and it always lightens my nights.

Your every words describes my exact feelings.

A small snippet of this plays at the end of tomb raider underworld when that version of Lara walks away for the final time and says "goodbye mother, rest in peace".

what a wonderful song. Anniversary & Legend are hands down the best in the TR series in my book. So fortunate to experience this masterpiece.

As the kids say: "this is everything!". The allusion to the original Tomb Raider theme, the sort of heaviness of the piece, it gently pulls you into another world.

You could be outside at night when the stars are shining listening to this just enjoying the air and night sky total bliss for me. Wonderful music ~ I really enjoyed this game

I love this, so nostalgic... the best time of this incredible game. Listening to this soundtrack brings me back to those moments of peace. No doubt, it marked my childhood.

I recently started this game. After playing Legend on the PS2 back in the day, the controls felt very familiar, even after all these years. Before starting the first level, I went straight to the Croft Manor. I didn't expect it to be a tiny treasure hunt side quest, having you go back and forth unlocking stuff while also honing your skills. After listening to this for a couple of minutes, I fell in love with it. Such a great experience, and I barely started the game!

I loved all of the Core music - especially, the first two main themes. Absolutely beautiful! And..distinctly Tomb Raider. You can hear it in the melody reflecting back to a golden age of gaming. I spent hours completing the first four games. The music really added to the environment. It MADE me keep going when frustration set in. I HAD to keep playing to see what was around that next bend! That's what games should do and these did a fantastic job of it. Even with it's flaws, I still played through this one too! The music had alot to do with it. Very few games have done that and I still get chills when I listen to it!

This is soo beautiful. WOW. I can't believe I hadn't discover this before!

@@dellixxia6321 Yes, The Last Revelation was amazing! I like history and mythology of Ancient Egypt. For AOD, Core Design made a good job with the history but the gameplay was too hard for me. However, as a french, I was happy to see Lara "visit" Le Louvre and go to Paris. Sorry if my english is bad.

31 this year. never played the newe tomb raiders, when i was very young i watched my dad play through all of the ps1 games. listening to this gives me nostalgia towards the series. im really happy to have this kind of memory.

I used to play this while my sisters watch, now that i move out I miss those moments.

amazing piece, so beautiful. it keeps me invested with curiosity to explore what the manor has to offer.

The newer tomb raiders have nothing on the old ones.

The reboot was amazing. I hope we can continue Lara Crofts story.

The nostalgia... it’s too strong!!!

it does feel like there was a period in the late 90s and a lot of the 2000s where composers were really giving it their all. Don't get me wrong, there are some games post 2010 with great soundtracks, but a lot of them to me just sound like the composers are trying too hard. I think out of all of the post 2010 games I've played the only 4 I can think of that did surprisingly well in the soundtrack field are Journey, The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, and No Man's Sky. But pre-2010 I can safely name Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Okami, pretty much any Ratchet & Clank game up to A Crack in Time, the original Spyro games, the Jak games, the Crash Bandicoot games, The Splinter Cell Trilogy, Beyond Good & Evil, Infamous, and probably some more I can't immediately think of. And I wish I could say this is just nostalgia talking, but if you play through pretty much any of those games it does feel more like the composers were having fun with their music rather than just trying to constantly sound dark and gritty.

Check out Darksiders 2 (it's like a gothic mix between Zelda, Tomb Raider and God of War), it has an incredible soundtrack by Jesper Kyd who did the old Hitman soundtracks. One of the best I've heard for years

+New Resident Evil Save Room Music This is the exact version that plays on my disk. What region are you from? I'm from United States so my disk is the NTSC version. If you have the PAL Version, that might explain the differences as sometimes different regions do different things with their games.
