I will always remember the intro to this level. Lara in the elevator, chatting with her colleagues. You don't see her outfit. This music starts playing in the background; it's clear she's at a high-class affair. Then she arrives and the elevator opens... and she's absolutely STUNNING. NEVER before, or again, has Lara been shown with such a level of class and flair as in this intro. Fits her like a glove. One of the greatest cutscenes of gaming. What a way to perfectly capture what classic Lara was always about: dedication, ruthlessness if needed, but never without a perfect sense of style and class, as a true British lady.

For me she was just moving her head. :))) Still,good times. :D Still remember the first time I encountered that demon "thing" in Peru.I was 6 or 7 years old and I had to ask my dad to pass that part for me. xD Until I met it again in Kazakstan.Two years later.This time I was not afraid. :D I blasted that son of a ...Whatever it is into Tesla Coils. :D

I could never get tired of this particular one the whole game had a fantastic soundtrack. Fell in love with it, this just oozes the feel of class and relaxation.

Just. LOVE, this song.. I was looking for it since I played the game years ago. When I found it and get it, it was just the most played song in my itunes library, because I listened to it many many many times, non stop with no break, like a background music in my house. That's it, a background music. I knew the laughs and the conversations in the back of the music perfectly. And I just wanted to join the party in Japan, it's my dream !!!

@annabellerosie123 That's because there's additional layers in-game where the music is "muffled" - if you stay in the elevator you can really only hear the bass. As you advance down the hallway, the ambience is heard in full. Neat sound design by CD! I constructed the intro to this piece to reflect that ;) A version is available without the ambience, derived from the Tomb Raider Anniversary Collector's Edition Soundtrack @ 0:15 into /watch?v=Q19CGcNmIRQ

This particular kind of music is regard as chillout, lounge and easy-listening.. its some sort of mix of ambient too.. but with electronic instruments...a great song to relax and chill haha! hope that helps..;)

Lift doors pinged. A slender pair of legs stepped in. "What exactly happened last time you and Takamoto got together?" An elegant painted nail pressed a floor button, and Lara answered Zip. In her little black dress and heels, with backpack strung off her shoulder as a purse, an immaculate Lara stepped out. "But you let him go," Zip continued. "And now we're going to have a useful conversation. It's turned out quite nicely." She had reached media magnate Toru Nishimura's tastefully decorated offices in good time for the party. She walked down a hall and stood for a moment looking down on the room. The party was in full swing though there was a relaxed atmosphere. There were perhaps thirty guests, chic young Japanese in cocktail dresses, suits and tails, dancing or chatting in twos and threes. To one side of the room a bald-headed bartender in a white jacket stood alone behind a wide counter, polishing glasses. "Lara, got a call from Nishimura," Zip said. "He's in his office, so he won't be mingling. The bartender will hook you up with him, though." "Ever predictable," Lara sighed. Curved stairs led down either side of the balcony. The circular motif was carried from the floor, where a colourful modern art water feature stood in the centre of glass concentric rings, a pool flowing beneath. The light sound of laughter and chat carried across the room as Lara slipped unnoticed down a quiet corridor. It led to a single marquetry door at the end, with an electronic keypad and camera mounted above. Lara tried the door. "It's locked." "Office doors usually are," Zip pointed out. "He said to see the bartender when you got there." She returned to the party and approached the man in the white jacket polishing glasses at the bar. "Good evening, I believe Nishimura-san is expecting me." "Ah, Lady Croft. He is in his office, down the hall behind you. I will let him know you are coming." "Thank you." She went back along the corridor and noticed the keypad had changed from red to green. She entered Nishimura's office. -- Nishimura's Warning -------------------------------------------------------- It was a spacious, richly decorated room with polished marble floors. "Welcome, Lara. You have been enjoying my little party?" Nishimura stood by a window. He was a portly man in a white linen suit with dapper wing-tip collar. "I'm enjoying it very much, Nishimura-san," Lara replied in perfect Japanese. "When Takamoto arrives, however, it may cause you some inconvenience." Nishimura came forward to greet her. "Take care, he is a very dangerous man when his interests differ from yours." "You'd be amazed how persuasive I can be, even with dangerous men." "I am convinced. I am dangerous too, you remember. But please, enjoy the party while you can, and good luck." Lara exchanged bows, then left.

It seems all of the background voices in this track are speaking English with American accents, which is weird given the level's Japanese setting and character designs (not saying that Japanese people can't have American accents, fyi)

@MrCharlieGoddard Yes! They are becoming synonymous in quality with film scores. Actually most games, at least the blockbusters, have been getting dedicated music releases in the past 3-5 years. This seems to have affected Crystal Dynamics's view, as they recently stated that they would like to release the soundtrack to Tomb Raider (2012) too! Fun times indeed.

I can't help but just dance to this music.

This game is why I want to visit Tokyo so much.

this is my fave track from the game. I think you are mistaken about it not being released however. At one point you could buy a collectors edition of anniversary, and it came with a soundtrack of legend and anniversary. I have it.

@MrCharlieGoddard Right you are, there was also a Limited Edition DVD soundtrack for TRU, and a Collector's Edition soundtrack for TRAOD. However, these are not commercial entities - they are enclosure or promotional albums. You can't just go to a CD shop or iTunes and buy them now :( They also included very little music; the majority remains unreleased.

I wish they released this track without the background talking. What were they thinking?

@H4RR7JH Oh I didn't really think of that, I assumed that if they were being released on a CD, even a promotional one, it still counted, my bad! :P Shame they don't release the full soundtracks. But thats the case with most games I suppose... Shame, most of them have really great ambience music these days!
