Lara's Manor from the original trilogy will forever have a place in my heart.

A bit of trivia I never see mentioned: in the final level of Tomb Raider II, "Home Sweet Home", the level takes place at night. However, go up into the attic and the window there is still in daylight mode

Great video! One fact that'd be quite interesting to add is that Lara's home in the Classics is not her childhood home. Lara's parents are still alive after all and they disowned her. The manor she lives in was left to her by her grand aunt :) (Also it was changed in TR5, but originally Winston was the grand aunt's butler and Lara "inherited" him with the house.)

2:32 fun fact: in the german dub of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Richard Croft is voiced by the german voice actor Eberhard Haar. Who also voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman in the GER DUB of Batman TAS.

I really hope that in the next Tomb Raider we get a fully explorable Croft Manor

I heard Arnold Schwarzenegger mispronounce Glasgow to the point it sounded like “Glass Cow” and my heart just sank. Tbh I’ve no right to be angry when the place is such a s**thole 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fantastic video as always! Can I just give you one piece of advice? I know you've said English isn't your first language, but in UK place names the "shire" is pronounced more like "sure", so Warwickshire is "Warricksure" If you're ever unsure, most towns have Wikipedia pages that have a "listen" option to hear the pronunciation.

Yeah it's a common occurrence for the mispronunciation of England locations, but I can't fault anyone because the pronunciations are truly odd unless it's second nature to you.

I still cringe a little, but it's worse where I'm from, as not one person from outside of Yorkshire can do a convincing Yorkshire accent! You all abbreviate "the"! It's not abbreviated, it's implied!

it was weird to have alfred auto lock on you from the moment you start the mansion level, that shit always freaked me out to hear his old humming and the dangling of teacups slowly approaching you from somewhere

Lara Croft's manor house feels so comforting and nostalgic

I can never get enough Tomb Raider content

There have been several intersting fanmod additions to the manor that I've seen. A far larger basement vault containing some of Lara's more... *excitable* finds and artefacts, the tomb of Arthur Pendragon (and thus the hiding place of Excalibur) and her mother's greenhouse, a huge glass-house just outside the main gate where Lara claims to have been writing her autobiography, surrounded by her mother's beloved trees and flowers..

If only Croft Manor could really be found in Guildford!! 🤩 But I always found it cool that Lara and I are both from there 💪🏼 Great video as always, Kai!!

Good old ps 1 era

My love to Lara started with Legend (for me the best TR game)...when I played TR 2 and 3 as a kid I found them scary to play :D (still having traumas from those cobras in the jungle)...but always nice to learn something new from the universe. Thank You Kai for bringing me closer!

Loving the Tomb Raider content! You should include the little fact that there's a real life street named after Lara in one of your videos! "Lara Croft Way", I believe it's called, but I could be wrong.

Awesome vid Kai! A friendly tip from an Englishman. The word “shire” on its own is pronounced how you say it in the video (“shy-er”) but when it’s on the end of a word the pronunciation changes to sound like “sheer” - eg. “Oxfordsheer”, “Nottinghamsheer”, “Buckinghamsheer”. It’s a silly language 🤓

When it's part of a county name I think most people pronounce it more like "Shu" or "Shur" than "Sheer", but it varies based on dialect. Place name pronounciation is weird across the whole world. If anyone is making a video with place names in it, they should look up the pronunciation on basically everything. Though I definitely don't blame anyone for not immediately knowing that Warwickshire is pronunced "Worrickshur".

I spent hours in the manor locking Winston in the freezer. I was about 5-6 so it was a blast to me 😂

This was very enjoyable to watch. I have played all the Tomb Raider games, but never knew all this. Thank you for sharing it. Maybe one day someone will make Laura Croft visit Racoon city is PS1 graphics. That would be a great adventure.

Ah the original Spencer mansion, when it was just known as “the mansion” cos there was no Spencer yet? 🤔 Pre-rendered backgrounds made it look more cinematic, music added atmosphere, and the door opening screen added some tension for first time players (back then anyways)

I was 16 when the first game came out and I could never have fathomed that there'd be a day where, instead of waiting 6 months for a birthday or christmas, I'd be able to play every single game every made for those consoles for free and yet... here we are.

It's pronounced Warwiksheer shire is usually pronounced sheer at the end of place names in England. Worcestershire is even more difficult for Americans to get right. Its pronounced woostersheer

Ha! I was actually looking to see if someone said this in the comments. Looking back, I absolutely feel that way about early Lara. There weren't any redeeming qualities for her as a person, she was just kind of a murderous rich colonizer stealing cultural artifacts which would make her my sworn enemy nowadays. But the new ones? Oh boy, she's friggin' awesome. Just a good person who still makes some mistakes but she doesn't step on native cultures, she cares about people, she cooperates with the natives not by taking the lead from them but by following theirs and always asking what they need from her. I could talk about it all day. I feel like I actually grew as a person by playing the new ones. If I met new Lara in real life she'd be more likely to give me a hand up than shoot me.
