I mean to be fair, that was a similar experience to the one I had when I had the chance to get close to our closest cousins in the animal world. My local Zoo has the largest ape enclosure in the world, and I visit there fairly often because its such a calming atmosphere. I remember just the other day, I was sat in absolute shock watching a Bonobo maybe 2 feet away from me on the other side of a pane of glass using the reflection in it to locate and pull a splinter out of his lip, and I... That made something with me that I cannot quite explain. I mean you always hear that the (other) Great Apes are very human in their skills and looks, but seeing it taking place inches away in real-time is another story entirely. It profoundly impacts how you see humanity as a concept, and even apart from deeper philosophical epiphanies, in my opinion, it just causes this odd, warm, fuzzy feeling - not unlike love - when you realize that you aren't just some special individual looking at nature, but that you are, indeed, part of nature, and that you share a common ancestry and most of your genetics with these gentle giants. Very Humbling, in a good way.

+LilMOMMAson I can respect your decision, and while I'm a HUGE fan of wildlife/animals, hunting is unfortunately necessary, especially when it comes to certain types of animals. For example, White-Tail Deer have to be hunted due to exploding numbers here in New England. There are soooo many WTD and because of an ever-increasing number of humans and encroachment into more lands, that is a VERY bad combination, which results in gov't officials unanimously encouraging hunting (over a finite hunting season) so that it ultimately saves the WTD and humans (from accidents, deer running out into highways, etc.). Besides, I only hunt what I plan on eating. I DETEST trophy hunting for tigers, rhinos, etc. I find the latter 100% reprehensible.
