Question: if you angled the vent stack other than straight up would that retain more smoke in the yoder?🤔

You ponder a good question. I’m not sure it would slow the smoke down enough to make a difference though. The fan moves a lot of air. I have a video coming where I test pellets, the amount of smoke was extremely interesting! Thanks for watching.

Charcoal will have that extra element of another flavor, but I think they taste pretty good.

Not a lot. I’ve watched a couple videos on it, that’s about it. Not sure how clean the smoke is.

@@RumandCook it’s a thin blue smoke. Guys have said the white is only at start up.

That’s not what I’ve seen in the videos I’ve watched, which is where my concern comes from. It’s billowing smoke mid cook and comment sections are full of praise for how much smoke it has. People think seeing a bunch of smoke is a good thing when it’s not. I’m trying to stay out of though lol. Looks like a well made product overall, but this is one of those things where I’m guessing without hands on experience. My Yoder has thin blue smoke all the time and does a good job so I don’t really have a reason to dig any deeper 😀

@@RumandCook how old is your Yoder? I recently purchased a used one that has the older controller non wifi 10 yrs old. It barely smokes anything white or blue. Just a bit here or there.

It’s a year old, but been using one for 3 years. Both have been the new fireboard controller. Pretty sure they switched the programming a few times over the years. I know you can get an upgrade kit, might be worth looking at. I’d play with pellets first though. Try some Bear Mountain or Lumberjack and see how it performs. The most smoke is going to happen at 200-250. As you get to 275+ it starts to burn cleaner and you see less smoke.
