Winn-Dixie used to carry Fisherman’s Wharf brand that was really good. I’ve tried other brands but they taste “soapy” to me. I mix this with a small sized pasta, red & yellow bell peppers, celery, onions & mayonnaise. I dice the veggies small, around a 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces and layer them on multiple paper towels to drain overnight in the fridge. If that step is skipped, all the juices release after it all put together and it looks awful & gets watered down… Basically a glorified macaroni salad. One pound of elbows or other small pasta to 2 pounds of faux crab meat.

Hey! I actually made mine with Old Bay and if you ask me, they were not good at all 😣 and I usually love crab with some old bay and butter!

I just finished making some with old bay and I'm enjoying them! I did a pretty light dusting when I added the oil and I'm glad I did it then versus adding old bay after frying. You never know until you try!
I ate these all the time as a kid, and we called the seafood sticks in the uk instead of imitation crab. I actually prefer it to crab lol. I’ve gotten the chance to eat crab recently (I come from a poorer family so it’s hard to get) and I found myself disappointed, so I just went back to eating seafood sticks

I agree, I prefer imitation crab over actual crab. I don't really understand why it's so loved, same with lobster.
I use to work at a sushi restaurant and we had imitation crab (krab) and the kind we got would become little shredded pieces when crushed them by hand. We would then fry them and use as garnish, and of course I'd throw it on some rice for a quick Scooby snack for myself .....Mmmmmm

You just came up with the new name for imitation crab...”Krab”. Well done! 😂😂😂👍🏽
I love how careful you are about harsh sounds in your videos. A couple of videos back you had many bowls/plates for ingredients and you placed each one so carefully so that they weren't a loud, harsh sound. You did it in this video too. Placing a jar down so carefully. I appreciate your extra attention to detail, Emmy. Your videos are so relaxing!!

Costco in the UK actually sell these made from CRAB, and this method works fantastic with those. Made a mint Riata dip to go with them. I made 2 batches, one with the imitation and one with the crab,, Big difference in flavour. grandkids NEED MORE of either one so #success .hahahaha Great Vid Emmy 🙂
I had some imitation crab in my fridge and made it after watching this video! It’s so crispy, it definitely tastes like the crab or shrimp chips. I’m making this when I crave potato chips from now on!
I've always enjoyed unrolling imitation crab sticks; now there is something cool to do with it!
it's interesting that you're showing this! It's quite a common snack here in Singapore, especially during the lunar new year ☺️
In Poland they are called Surimi, i personally make a salad with Surimi cucumber mayo and rice noodles. It's amazing my fiancee can eat like 3kg of this "salad" in one sitting 😂

I love imitation crab. My parents never bought because “it’s not real crab” every time we went to a relative’s house & had imitation crab salad my parents would say “you know it’s fake crab, right?”

Know a couple in moms age just like that. We all was to dinner at common friends that used it. They come saying you know it's not real crab? I responded well they went to school for longer (they had universitie degrees and the cpuple compleining high school) then you so I would think theu can read. Omg they got so angry at me 😂😂😂 i was rude and i don't know what. I was maybe 12 or so then. Mom and dad, he wa still alive was on my side and told them well you should not complain on free food

I love imitation crab! One of my favorite things to do with it is make a salsa/imitation type ceviche. Chop up the imitation crab and add lots of chopped tomatoes, green onion, cilantro, lemon juice and seasoning salt. Eat it with tortilla chips, it’s soooooo good!!!
Emmy!! I love watching your videos to relax. Such good positive energy from every video 😊
Hi Emmy. I just wanted to say that seeing your videos makes my day. I made the milk bread and it has become a family favorite.
Hi Emmy, I'm in the UK and love your channel. I made these this week and shared them with my son and wife. Really nice snack. I bought some Asda (like Walmart) seafood sticks for just £1 and we all had a good portion! Thank you for inspiring us.
Many years ago I managed the seafood department at Winn Dixie, a very large grocery store chain . We had this imitation crab meat that we used to make a pasta salad and a crab dip. It was delicious!!! I love crab legs and I love the imitation crab!!! Thank you for always bringing us simple recipes!!!!! ❤️❤️

I know exactly what I’d sprinkle on these!!! Carla Lalli Music has a recipe for fried mushrooms that she tops with a combo of equal parts salt, pepper, cayenne, MSG, and lemon zest! I swap the cayenne for aleppo cause I don’t like too much spice, I usually use this for fried veg or chicken.

Being a lover of shrimp chips I just had to click on this as soon as I saw it show up in my feed. Now I just have to try it. I have loved shrimp chips since I was a kid but I never loved having to fry them up. This would be so much easier. Thanks Emmy.
I love this idea. We always end up with extra imitation crab when we make California rolls at home and this seems like a great way to use up the rest!
It may be imitation crab but it's mostly real fish. One of my grandma's later in life signature dishes was "crab" salad cold from the fridge on a fresh piping hot baked potato. Pure bliss!!! We always thought it was funny because she lived about 90 minutes from Huntington Beach outside L.A.

They need to tell you it's imitation crab because it's very sweet for fish, which it's really what it is.

This looks great and I will be making it! Off to the grocery! Thanks Emmy.
Whoever create these snacks is a genius .wish to have an air fryer now im drooling with amy 😂😂
I love making crab cakes out of the imitation crab. Imitation crab, onions, bell pepper celery, raw eggs, mayonnaise, Old Bay, lemon juice, bread crumbs. Pan fry in a butter oil mixture.

Well, there _is_ a better (and shorter) name: the original japanese "surimi". We use that word in France. I love surimi! Didn't know you could make chips out of them. I'll have to try that. Note that some surimi brands have a better crab taste than others. Some even do contain actual crab.

The way Emmy does the R rolls is always so endearing.
Crunch, crunch, crunch. Sounds great, gotta try them.
I'd recommend doing them in batches in the air fryer. They would cook more evenly and quickly if they were less crowded in the air fryer.
I think I love you Emmy. I'm off to the air fryer right now.
Methinks it would pair well with a tangy and/or creamy dip to counter "dry mouth". Tzatziki, Guacamole or perhaps a spicy, chunky salsa with fresh coriander and fried garlic sprinkles :)
Those look and sound amazing! This is the first recipe I’ve seen that’s made me really want to buy an air fryer
Yummy i wanna make some now love your videos😍😍😍😍😍
My mom uses imitation crab for ceviche along with shrimp! My brothers and I will grab some imitation crab and pour fresh lemon juice and hot sauce( usually tapatio) on them and eat them before the ceviche is ready! Definitely recommend 😋
You are awesome Emmy! Hello from Alexandria VA!
🍤 chips are my FAV! So, ima hafta try these!
I love imitation crab meat. Most salad bar "seafood salads" are just imitation crab. Who knew you could air fry it? Looks good!
Yum! Crunch, crunch, crunch!

Have you tried the Aldi's (grocery store) store brand of imitation crab? It's better than any other I've tried and cost less than $2 a pack. We buy them and clarify butter and eat them like crab legs. I'm allergic to shellfish so these hit the spot!
This mom is on Round #2 for her kiddos, they love this. Thx ☺️
Finally made some of these snacks tonight using a little avocado oil and a light dusting of old bay before air frying. So good!
Thanks for this! Made it last night. Used some spicy seasoning. Delish!! Will make again!
I'm excited to make this!
I bet using toasted sesame oil would give them a nice flavor!!! My air fryer is packed up for a move, can't wait to try these!
Emmy, you're so cute and sweet! I like pollock, it's always cheap. Of course I LOVE crab legs, but not for 80 bucks for two sets of legs! You obviously know how things in the world are going, gas, food, everything. I'm a loyal customer of yours, and I love your channel! Make the best of what you've got, right?? I love Imitation Crab!! 🦀 I like trying to find different recipes to use it. Tricking people is also something I love!! 😁
I grew up eating imitation crab salad sandwiches as one of our bagged lunches for school. My mom made it the same way as tuna salad, with diced celery and mayo and a little seasoning. I loved the stuff. Would even eat some straight sometimes.
