My Dominican friends say that they are Black. I am from Jamaica and The Bahamas and all the Dominicans I went to high school with call themselves Black. They don't even call themselves Afro ... anything.. And the Jamaican culture with bleaching thing changed many people are advocating for not bleaching.. Many people in the Caribbean are advocating to stop bleaching in this generation.

Latinos are not a race and you can be any race and latino. So Cris is culturally latino but racially he's black and those Dominicans he said look white most likely are.

@@97musicaddict you sound like one of those latinos that claim latino as a race 🙄 did I say he couldn't? Was just correcting the assumption a lot of people make about the region and race.

This is one podcast that no matter what topic or guest i love to listen but sometimes i feel the conversation gets stunted by hard stopping at the hour mark. Maybe an hour and 15 or 30. I might just be greedy but i need more Pastor David in my life.

Regarding the skin tone thing, it was the same in Europe until recently (historically speaking). Nowadays it’s mostly the opposite, a tan is considered prettier and healthier than being pale. (Generally speaking of course) It also implies you can afford to take a vacation to sunnier destinations.

My friends and I knew a guy who wouldn't technically code switch, he would just straight up try to copy people around him. It had the same energy as a serial killer learning how to smile to seem more human. It was simultaneously creepy and annoying- everyone in the room would just side-eye him lmao. You could know him for a day and you would know something was off. You could feel the fakeness. We also knew another guy (who is white) who would say "nigga" so much to the point of annoyance. It wasn't just "you're white, you don't understand what that word means to some of us"- he would say it so much my friend and I would joke that his parents are black and he doesn't know he's white. The second guy from what I last heard got clean and went to college or something related to chemistry, I think. I wonder if he still says "nigga" or if he took some sociology/afro studies class.
