    Was hoping for some help. Bought my boy a 50 and was told it's an 88cc. Carb went bad leaking fuel replaced it with a cheap carb from Amazon and now it revs up so high I feel it's gonna explode. Just ordered a carb that's ment for an 88. Would the smaller carb cause it to Rev so high? Also, now the needle or throttle assembly keeps getting stuck. Replaced it, worked fine for a second. Then got stuck again. Any help would be appreciated 🙏

    Any info about tuning on these carbs?

    If you're running an 88cc kit I'd start with a 92 main jet and a 38 pilot jet, needle at the third notch from the top and the air screw about 1.5 turns out from seated. Definitely pick up the jet kit at the same time, I couldn't find any jets that would fit locally and had to grind a pilot down to fit.

    Already bought a jet kit Running the 88 kit, stock head with a 189 cam, pz20 carb that comes with the big bore kit, just can’t seem to get jetting right for pilot seems super rich still even going down to a 35, I’ll try what you said and see how that goes, appreciate the response

    From 72cc tp 88cc must change the chain too?

  • @GarageAddiction

    @GarageAddiction

    3 жыл бұрын

    You only need to change the chain length if you change the sprockets or fit a massive rear tire. A 3.5 on the rear needs to be alllll the way back in the stock swingarm.

    You can use the stock head with most kits, I’ve never run one with the stock carb so I can’t speak to that though.

    Yeah when we were running the high compression setup it was detonating badly. Currently we're on a normal 88 piston due to ordering the wrong part and losing another engine to a bad oil pump :D

Alejandro pointed out that I ordered the wrong piston, the one installed wasn’t domed. TBW0365 - is the high comp piston from Tbolt :)

    With the high compression piston and head it was about as fast as a stock grom so like 50-55. Regular 88 piston and stock head feels more like 45.

    Don't ever adjust your valves like this. Always do it with the valve head installed along with the timing chain on with full tension on it. This is not the way to adjust your valves.

    Can get away with it? Yes. Will your valves be adjusted accurately? No
